Press Preview: Warehouse – Spring/Summer 2013

SS13 Warehouse 3 Press Preview: Warehouse Spring/Summer 2013 %tagI know I haven't been doing reviews of every press day, I will share some of my favourite pieces in a round-up blog, but I just had to show you what Warehouse have coming for spring/summer 2013 as I was blown away.

First up the location, the Warehouse press team always seem to get the venue so right, last season was an amazing gallery where they put on an exhibition, and this time round they went for the rooftop bar of the new, not even opened, ME London hotel. This place is incredible, sharp, crisp white and mirrored interior, a glass canopied rooftop that let's you see straight down into reception, and then there is the amazing view – you can see the everything from the London Eye to Tower Bridge and with it being opposite Somerset House you are so close to that you can nearly see people skating. I reckon this is going to be one hot location for fashion week.

My eyes were quickly drawn to all the structured monochrome styles, which had intricate zip detailing, gorgeous silhouettes and textured pieces full of fringing, lace touches, beaded embellishments and studs – there were a lot of pieces that I am going to want to invest in next season.

My Style: Try The Trend – Tamaris ANTIshokk Glitter Riding Boots

http makeagif.com media 10 29 2012 ynTDJW My Style: Try The Trend Tamaris ANTIshokk Glitter Riding Boots %tagI am a boot whore, I have more pairs than I count, and I love finding new brands that as well as looking pretty are also actually good for my poor battered feet. This month I was asked to test out a pair of boots from Germany’s biggest shoe retailer, Tamaris, which as well as being glittery, so on trend with the equestrian buckles, they also have the brands exclusive ANTIshokk technology in-built. I know fancy right!

Of course I jumped at the chance – new boots that sparkle, absorb shock energy when you walk, and that can be worn all day without hurting no matter how much walking you do – had to be tested.

To be honest it did seem a little too good to be true, so I threw the biggest challenge a fashion journalist has – seeing how they cope during press day season, second only to fashion week for the amount of walking and standing around I do.

Granted I don’t understand why these boots are comfortable, I could give you some techie jargon such as they are constructed with pneumatic chambers and core stabilisers, which is all true, but what I do understand is that these beauties really took on my challenge and impressed me.

A typical press day schedule for me is around 5-6 events, an average of 10 mins walk between each venue across London, up and down the escalators at the tube, as well as the actually standing around catching up with my favourite PRs and looking around all the beautiful collections – as well as being fun it s also tiring and normally I do these busy days in flats, so it was nice to wear a bit of a heel and still feel great at the end of the day.

Like with all new shoes/boots you have to wear them in, at first they pinched a little on the toes, but the ache that normally comes in the heel and the sole never came, and I wore these boots three days in a row without any major problems, which is basically unheard of.

I am not going to bore you with all my looks while I tested my new boots, but over the past month I have worn them with a maxi skirt, a kick flare dress, and teamed them on numerous occasions with jeans – I was surprised by how adaptable they were.

My favourite look had to be teamed with my skinny jeans, a funky colourful cardigan, and my winter-warmer duffel coat. Don’t you just think the colour of the beige and glitter works really well with blue? I also love how these boots gives a casual look an edge.

My Style: Lands’ End duffel coat (c/o); New Look cardigan, vest, bracelets and scarf; Warehouse jeans; Barbie necklace; Retro 54 glasses; and my Tamaris boots (c/o).

Fancy checking out the whole collection from Tamaris? Well why not head on over to their website, prices start at £29.99, which is pretty reasonable, my beauties are £69.99 but worth every penny.

What do you think – could you see yourself wearing these glittery beauties?

My Style: Autumnal Layering and Breton Stripes

MyStyleBreton8 My Style: Autumnal Layering and Breton Stripes %tagI am a huge fan of autumn, mainly because it suits my layering style, and this week with the lingering fog and chill in the air my need for layers has become more apparent. We are in the midst of press day season, lots of time away from my computer, mentally making my spring/summer 2013 shopping list, as well as constantly being in and out of different venues – so this look was perfect.

I am a fan of parka coats and this one from Dorothy Perkins is one of my favs and has been in my wardrobe for around five years and still looks fresh each season. It isn’t the warmest of coats, so generally autumn is when I wear it, but I love the shape, the drawstrings and the pockets – plus khaki green really does work with most colours.

When I look at this outfit I realise how many capsule wardrobe pieces it contains, that wasn’t intentionally but does show that when you buy classic pieces such as black jeans, a long draping cardigan and a Breton striped top what you can come up with.

This Breton striped top from Crew Clothing is fast becoming one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe, I love that it is perfect for layering under a cardigan and it is comfortable to wear, which is ideal for a busy day.

Today, I also went to the OPI Nails spring preview, checked out all the fab colours coming and also got a pretty manicure – I am in love with the new Liquid Sand shades coming – I do love matt textured looks. I also think that my purple splash nails also goes well with my pink arm candy, especially my Chamilia bracelet that was designed in aid of Breast Cancer awareness month.

Finishing off my look are my new biker boots from Tribeca shoes a cool footwear emporium of the latest trends. What makes these boots my new favourites has to be the style – I love the studs, they are seriously comfortable, and every time I wear them I can’t believe they are only £35 – serious bargain!

Do you love autumnal layering? And are you a fan of Breton stripes?

LFW SS13: Day 2 – Black With A Hint Of Neon, Oriential Beauty, and Now 1994

Day2LFW8 LFW SS13: Day 2 Black With A Hint Of Neon, Oriential Beauty, and Now 1994 %tagAfter the craziness of yesterday I tried to pace myself today, well that was the plan but to be honest you just can’t help getting caught up in the fashion wave, and today was mainly about Vauxhall Fashion Scout and the one, the only Henry Holland.

Day2LFW3 LFW SS13: Day 2 Black With A Hint Of Neon, Oriential Beauty, and Now 1994 %tag

I started the day with The Body Shop as they are the make-up sponsor for Vauxhall Fashion Scout, the off-schedule platform during London Fashion Week. What I love about London’s fashion scene is that it really does nurture new talent, whether it is Fashion Fringe, Fashion East, Topshop’s Newgen or Fashion Scout’s Ones To Watch.

What’s always nice with these back-to-back showcases is that they are always completely different, and that certainly was the case for Ones To Watch this season. There was Ming pin Tien with his leather constructions, Charlotte Simpson with her red carpet worthy sequinned beauties, Hana Cha presented a cool collection of monochrome fringing and dip dye chiffons, and the final collection from Hellen Van Rees was a three-dimensional masterclass.

Highlights:

Day2LFW1 LFW SS13: Day 2 Black With A Hint Of Neon, Oriential Beauty, and Now 1994 %tag

I ended my day with a nighties flashback at House of Holland, not just that the ‘Buzz Kill’ collection, which was inspired by the “forgotten decade”, but mostly that the soundtrack could totally have been Now 1994 – think Shampoo’s ‘Were in Trouble’ and No Limit’s house banging tune, it was a flashback to my 14-year-old self!

It was also the craziest show I have been too this season, set in an NCP car park, it was just cool, like Henry himself. Everything from the invite, a floral iPhone case to the incredible music, to the House of Holland front row gang of the gorgeous but super-skinny Kelly Osbourne, the striking Nicola Roberts who snuck by paparazzi, and Alexa Chung, this was my first experience of a HoH show and I loved every second of it.

Day2LFW6 LFW SS13: Day 2 Black With A Hint Of Neon, Oriential Beauty, and Now 1994 %tag

The beauty of off-schedule is that sometimes you just don’t know what to expect, and sometimes there is a designer that really stands out, today at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, that designer was Tahir Sultan. Other than the fact my friend Amy is on his PR team I didn’t have a clue who Tahir Sultan was, what his designs were going to be like, or how good he was, well after seeing his ‘The Silence’ spring/summer 2013 show I can certainly say that I won’t be forgetting him anytime soon.

This was a collection reminiscent of BodyAmr, it had a glamour and confidence about it that was pure opulence and utterly divine. The models were stunning, the tailoring was exquisite, but for me it was the drool worthy red carpet gowns that had me wanting more. Don’t worry I promise more pictures from this collection soon.

My final highlight of day 2 was Ji Cheng, I knew it was going to be good after receiving the intricate tea bag inspired invite, and I wasn’t wrong. This was a collection filled with oriential beauty and Western tailoring and the pair really married up well. I loved the asymmetric cuts, the peplums *yep, they aren’t going anywhere*, the gorgeous backless gowns, the incredible make-up and the striking handmade bamboo hats.

When I got up this morning I just wanted to do comfort, so it could only be one think skinny jeans and a jumper day. Once again it was mostly black, it is slimming after all, but today’s looks was finished off nicely with lots of studs, and pops of neon pink, especially my gorgeous neon pink Cambridge Satchel Company bag, which I truly love.

My Style: Warehouse black skinny jeans (c/o Westfield London), Warehouse studded jumper (c/o Westfield London), Spy Love Buy studded skull boots (c/o), Cambridge Satchel Company bag, H&M bangles, Ice-Watch, Barbie necklace, Retro 54 glasses, and my HTC One X, which I am constantly glued to, unless when I think I have lost it when actually it was in my back pocket like I did today!

So what was your highlight of London Fashion Week Day 2?

My Style: What I Wore To My Friend’s Wedding

WeddingStyle My Style: What I Wore To My Friends Wedding %tag

Last weekend, before the weather turned on us, I was enjoying the sun down in Sussex for my friend’s wedding. It was a small but sophisticated affair at the gorgeous Marco Pierre White venue Kings Barns, and the day was just so much fun-filled with lots of Pims, laughter with friends, delicious food especially the strawberry Pavlova, a little bit of crazy dancing, adorable bunting, and most importantly a stunning bride and handsome groom.

This was my second wedding of the summer, I still have another two to go before the year is up, but this is the one I have been most excited about as both Jim and Sarah are close friends. I don’t think I have been to such a fun and relaxed wedding before, I adored Sarah’s striking dress she really did look gorgeous and I admired Jim for wearing his dress uniform, it was scorching and that uniform looked warm, but he did look incredible.

I had been panicking slightly about what to wear as I knew it was going to be such a great day, when I saw this gorgeous nude pink dress in Warehouse I was blown away, I completely fell in love with its Art Deco-inspired sequin embellished neck line. I have to be honest I was a little worried about going for such a light colour, I am normally in the colour scheme closer to black, but as soon as I tried it on and twirled in the chiffon full skirt it just felt right.

WeddingStyle4 My Style: What I Wore To My Friends Wedding %tag

With the statement detailing on the front I didn’t go crazy on my accessories, opting for platform strappy Calvin Klein Collection shoes, which were the most comfortable shoe ever and a bargain from The Outnet clearance sale, as well as an Art Dec-style clutch from Warehouse, a couple of my favourite charm and diamond bracelets, well it wouldn’t be right without some arm candy, and finishing off my look were my new specs from Specsavers.

I always worry about having to wear glasses at weddings and parties, I could wear contacts but touching my own eyes creeps me out, but these Karen Millen beauties are perfect when dressing up. I love the matt finish to frames, I find shiny a little too much at times, and these are the lightest glasses I own so it really didn’t feel like I was even wearing glasses.

I didn’t want to go too crazy in sharing pictures from the day, but here are a few of my favourites: First up we have Paulie and I with Mr and Mrs Priestley, I blame the heat for Paulie taking off his tie and jacket as he really did looked dapper. Below is a close up of Jim’s medal bling; the happy couple I just adore Sarah’s wedding dress; and the last photo is Paulie with our close friends Olly, Marcus, Jim, Pete and Mat.WeddingJim My Style: What I Wore To My Friends Wedding %tagWeddingJimSarah My Style: What I Wore To My Friends Wedding %tagWeddingTheBoys My Style: What I Wore To My Friends Wedding %tag

My Style: A Rainy Day Needs A Gorgeous Dress

MyStyleWarehouse1 My Style: A Rainy Day Needs A Gorgeous Dress %tag

The weather it seems has been the hot topic for weeks now, granted we all know that Blighty isn’t an island blessed with gorgeous summers, we are known for the occasionally heat wave but generally it isn’t amazing. However, I think everyone would agree with me when I say bring back the old summers all is forgiven as it feels lately that this is more autumn than summer.

Well I have decided that no matter how bad the weather is, and to be honest it couldn’t have gotten much worse on the day this picture was taken – think constant rain, that I am going to make myself feel better with a great dress.

The dress in question in this post is from Warehouse, if you haven’t stopped by in a while do, I always seem to leave with something. This dress isn’t very summery, I was attracted by the print and the pleated skirt, but it definitely wasn’t geared for high winds and rain – I did flash a few peeps during my Christmas in July madness across London.

What have you been wearing to cheer yourself up from this weather?

[Pic: thanks to Sherin for snapping me and blame the rain for the state of my hair!!!]

My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks

Wedding1 My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks %tag

At the weekend I went to my boyfriend’s oldest friends wedding, they were born an hour apart and have been friends ever since, so I decided to work two very different dresses from the Marks and Spencer Limited Collection. I know what you are thinking two dresses to a wedding that isn’t my own is a little excessive, well in my defence I was invited to the wedding ceremony at the church and then the evening bash, so with the downtime in-between I decided that I wanted to try out my new LBD in the evening.

WeddingDay3 My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks %tag

So, for the main event the wedding ceremony was in the most gorgeous church just behind Poole Quay, and I decided to be extra brave and work this amazing bright coloured digi-print from Marks & Spencer’s amazing Limited Collection. As soon as I tried it on I knew instantly that I loved it because of the colours and the flirty silhouette, I was a little worried however if I could pull it off. As it was so bright, I knew that working a bright pair of shoes would be perfect, as well as a bright colour on my nails, I went for Rimmel’s Peppermint shade. I did also look for a bright blue clutch but I couldn’t find one anywhere, but I am so glad that I went for this Art Deco-style clutch box from Warehouse as it will go with everything.

For the evening bash, which was in the RNLI’s Head Quarter’s right on the quay, I decided to work my new little black dress, basically I loved the print number but I forgot my white blazer and the black didn’t work and it was a little nippy, so I went for a black number teamed with my fiery heels.

Firstly I am in love with this dress, only £25 from Marks & Spencer it is a complete bargain and it is super flattering, I felt slim and sexy all night and I loved it paired with my blazer from New Look. I broke up the black with a skinny cream belt from Warehouse, which matched my clutch perfectly. I also changed up my jewellery a little and added a cool gold beaded doll bracelet from Maggie Angus’ new autumn/winter 2012 collection, which got a lot of lovely comments.
