Shopping: 10 Summer Jackets

Summer-cover-up-3

I totally understand winter dressing, I love to layer up, feel all cosy and generally be as warm as possible, when it comes to the summer months I really struggle as I either have beach climate outfits or winter warmers, It seems I have nothing in between. Which is kind of a problem for this variable weather we have been having – one minute boiling hot – the next second a little on the chilly side, which is where these amazing summer jackets come in.

The most important thing with a summer jacket other than the fit, I sometimes go down a size as I don’t have as many layers on underneath, has to be versatility, it has to go with a lot of summer looks and different occasions, as lets face it you aren’t going to buy more than say one or two for the season.

My summer jacket normally revolves around lightweight parkas or a denim jacket, but I was after something a little smarter that wouldn’t look out-of-place with a casual look and that’s when I spotted this soft quilted cropped jacket from Warehouse, which FYI is now in the sale.

It really is perfection, it is light, it is a great colour, goes with jeans, skirts, dresses, and works dressed up and paired down. Plus it has the all important three-quarter sleeve, for some reason I think that makes a summer jacket as you can show off your arm candy!!!

So the quilted Warehouse beauty might be my favourite and my current go-to summer cover-up but I done a little shopping for the top 10 summer jackets out there at the moment. So whether you after something to wear to a festival, team with a gorgeous dress to an outdoor wedding, or wear to a Sunday brunch with friends – I have found something for everyone.

Which jacket is your favourite?

Echo Falls: The Best Nights Are Unplanned

Processed with VSCOcam

Think back to your best night out and I bet it was one that was one that was totally unplanned. I have found over the years nights out that are planned, scheduled and uber-organised, like every New Year’s Eve ever, never quite live up to expectation, instead it’s those nights that start off with a casual drink, a shopping trip or a bite to eat with friends that turns into something amazing.

Some of my best unplanned nights have seen me take on the crazy pub golf crawl challenge, be tipped upside down by a Z-list celebrity, lose one boot, spin too many shot wheels, as well as meet new friends, so I have to be honest I was super excited and a little nervous when Echo Falls asked me to join them on a night of surprises – all I knew is the time and location of where to meet.

So at 5.30pm I joined Sherin, Ashanti and Laura, as well as the Echo Falls girlies before we were greeted with our own limo, with its music blaring, and a selfie-calling mirrored ceiling, I just couldn’t help myself. It was in the limo, while singing along to tunes that we were given our first clue to solve, which equalled a shopping spree in Warehouse. We had 30 minutes to buy something fabulous to wear for our night out and as I stupidly left my jacket at home I decided to added a gorgeous blue quilted number to my jeans and shirt look. I realised that while I was having so much fun I totally forgot to get a picture of me in the jacket, I promise it will make an appearance on my blog soon.

Next clue, head to Carnaby Street for a mini Benefit makeover, and on our way we bumped into our very own ‘Echo Falls’ busker, who included all of our blog names into our own song – it was hilarious, it had us dancing and even got the tourists snapping, they really will take pictures of anything.

After giggling with our busker, who I wish we could have taken with us for the rest of the night, the Benefit girlies got to work on our make-up and gave me a fab night out look, before we headed over to Kettners for dinner.

Dinner at Kettners is always special, even more so when you have your own private dinning room, waiter and a special menu. I went for the soup to start, which was lovely, and then I went for the pan roast guinea fowl breast served with wild rice, confit garlic and tarragon cream sauce. I was a little nervous as I have never had guinea fowl but it really did taste like chicken and was so delicious, and I adored how it was presented.

The best bit about dinner, other than the fab company of course, had to be pudding – I went for the fruit topped pavlova and it was incredible, everyone else went for the chocolate tart, which I also got to taste thanks to Sherin being stuffed and I can tell you this is a great place to come for dessert!!!

An unplanned night out, wouldn’t be a night out without making at least one new friend along the way – I couldn’t resist posing with the Benefit doll.

Want to check out our fun night out watch this cute film that the Echo Falls put together. Thanks Echo Falls for a great unplanned night out!!!

My Style: Feeling Blue But So In Love

OOTD-Blue-and-in-Love

With the recent cold snap I feel like I have been wearing the same outfit, generally jeans, more often than not my biker boots, and nearly always a very warm jumper – today’s look isn’t that dissimilar to be honest but I decided to mix it up with a bright blue jacket I found hanging on the coat hooks by the door.

Don’t worry it is my jacket, just one that sadly has been forgotten about this winter, and I am not sure why as I love the colour and the fit. On a cold day like today it really did brighten my mood.

Today’s look is very blue – blue coat, jeans, sweater, scarf, Cambridge Satchel bag and even the gloves that my Mum knitted me – everything is a different shade of blue, well except for that red t-shirt peeking through underneath the sweater, my gold jewellery and black boots.

To balance out the blue feeling I decided to go for a soppy love vibe with my Zoe Karssen LOVE jumper that I picked up off The Outnet, I just love her printed slogans, I seem to be building a collection of her t-shirts, but this sweater is laid-back lux to perfection – super comfortable, so warm and totally me!!!

Finishing up my look are my cute new love heart initial bracelets and my love ring that I picked up at the Claire’s gifting suite at The Apartment during London Fashion Week.

My Style: Day Three At London Fashion Week

OOTD-LFW-Day3-gap

Day three and the sun has been shining all day, granted still not that warm, but I don’t mind shivering when it is bright. Once again, another look, another shade of pink – so we’ve had a bright pink jumper, bright pink accessories and today I went for my new Gap blazer which I picked up in the sale last weekend.

Considering a blazer is a wardrobe staple I only seem to have two very ill-fitted ones so I thought it was time to invest for fashion week as you can dress an outfit up or down with one and lots of my friends recommended Gap. When I saw this bright pink beauty I couldn’t resist, even more so when it was £20 off – serious bargain that I am sure to wear all-year round.

As the trim of the blazer is a dark grey I thought it would make the bright pink stand out even more if the rest of my outfit was charcoal grey and black – and I think this is one of my favourite looks for a while.

As you know if you follow me on Twitter I love jeans but like most people I struggle to find styles that fit and look flattering and a number of my followers answered my pleas for help and suggested Uniqlo, a shop I love for t-shirts but have never tried for denim, but I have seriously been missing out.

These dark grey beauties are from the super soft, super stretchy skinny range, and I can assure you they are exactly that, they are just so flattering and for a long time putting skinny jeans on didn’t make me feel instantly fat. Plus they are super long, I have them turned up as wearing with boots today, but in the summer I will actually be able to wear jeans with flats and not feel like I am showing half my leg off!!!

Finishing off my look is my trusty Osprey London bag, this is so perfect for fashion week – classic colour, classic design and fits everything from my iPad, tickets, make-up, chocolate, phone, diary, notepad, pens, etc, etc, in, as well as my Ice-Watch, which sadly has the wrong date on it, my Topshop ankle boots that I am literally wearing to death, and a new statement necklace from New Look.
