Cover Loving: Kati Nescher In Givenchy For British Vogue

vogue feb 2013 Cover Loving: Kati Nescher In Givenchy For British Vogue %tag

It looks like Vogue didn’t get the memo about using an actress on the cover of their February issue, instead they’ve gone for a Kate Middleton look-a-likey, better known as Russian model Kati Nescher.

It seems Vogue is all about the models, which I like, and for the second month in a row, Kati follows fellow model Kate Lupton on the cover, which looks set to continue next month, as rumours are circulating that Cara Delevingne will grace the March issue.

I have to be honest I am not hundred percent sold on this cover shot by Patrick Demarchelier. I love the gorgeous Givenchy dress, monochrome with ruffles – totally adore, I even love the side-on pose, the elegance, and the red taglines, and I have to salute Vogue for going with a model.

But, what I am not loving is how the styling of the hair seems to have aged poor Kati, maybe they took the Princess Kate reference a little too far, but for me it doesn’t work with the ‘modern glamour’ tagline. Plus is anyone else a little distracted by her ear???

Maybe I have to see it in person to fully appreciate – what do you think of Vogue’s February cover?

Cover Loving: Jennifer Lawrence Covers Vogue UK

VogueJenniferLawrence Cover Loving: Jennifer Lawrence Covers Vogue UK %tagOoh I have been waiting for this cover since I found out Jennifer Lawrence was Vogue’s November cover star, and it doesn’t disappointed. Shot by Alasdair McLellan, Jennifer sparkles in a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana lace gown from the autumn/winter 2012 collection.

There is something about Jennifer that goes beyond her Katniss character in The Hunger Games, there is a beauty about her that is unconventional, I am not going to lie that isn’t to mean that she isn’t drop-dead Gorgeous – I wish I looked like that – but there is more to her beauty than other Hollywood starlets that excites me.

I was looking forward to her W cover but they went too far, this cover has a charm about it, I like the pose with the hand on hip and shot to the side and her hair and make-up is flawless. I can’t wait to see the accompanying editorial.

What do you make of Jennifer’s latest cover? Will you buying the November issue of Vogue?

Cover Loving: Models Continue To Shine On The September Issues

SeptemberIssueModels Cover Loving: Models Continue To Shine On The September Issues %tag

I love celebrities and I do love seeing celebrities on magazine covers, yep even I have been persuaded to buy a magazine just because my favourite actress is on the cover, but I have to be honest I do love it when models take covers, more so when it is a September issue – as they are the fashion issues of the year.

It seems that this September the supermodels really are taking over and producing some amazing covers. I have already shown you ELLE UK’s gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, well the subscriber cover dropped through my letterbox over the weekend and I am so pleased they showcased her incredible pins!!! Well it seems that more magazines around the world understand the power of a model – Flare, Canada’s biggest fashion magazine has gone for Lindsey Wixson, Vogue UK and Japan both went for Karlie Kloss, Tokyo Numero have the lovely Candice Swanepoel, and Tatler shows that Cindy Crawford can still work it.

One of my favourite covers so far for September has to be Flare’s gold rush with Lindsey Wixson wearing a coat, top and skirt from Prabal Gurung’s autumn/winter 2012 collection, with incredible Laruicci earrings and a super pop of red lippy.

What I love about this cover, other than the obvious – her striking beauty, I still can’t believe that she is only 18-years-old, but that Flare didn’t go for one of the obvious, high-spending advertisers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton or Gucci – it is always refreshing to see, especially with a September issue.

I was expecting a lot from British Vogue, September as they state themselves is ‘Fashion’s Olympic moment’, but for me this vibrant  seventies-inspired look doesn’t quite cut it for me. Shot by Nick Knight, I love the Jonathan Saunders high-waisted gold printed skinny trousers teamed with a clashing printed silk shirt, but I am put off by Karlie’s pose, I am not sure Tara would approve, and I really dislike the orange and pink text – just too much.

I think I am going to have to give it to Vogue Japan, their September issue featuring Karlie in an Yves Saint Laurent chainmail dress is divine. I love the moody feel to this cover, the white background works perfectly with the smoky tones and of course it wouldn’t be Japanese without the text overload. Everything from the styling to the make-up to her pose and the text works on this cover shot by Mikael Jansson.

Special mention has to go to Cindy Crawford, how stunning does she look for Tatler, she really doesn’t age I couldn’t believe that she is 46 – she is giving these younger models a run for their money!!!

Have you been impressed with the September covers so far? Do let me know which ones are your favourites.

Cover Loving: Emma Stone Graces British Vogue

vogueuk Cover Loving: Emma Stone Graces British Vogue %tag

Following on from her uber-glamorous and stunning debut for American Vogue and her adorable Teen Vogue cover with her boyfriend Andrew Garfield, The Amazing Spider-Man star Emma Stone has also bagged a British Vogue cover.

Very different from the July American Vogue cover, Emma Stone is showing what a versatile cover star she is, I am loving her monochrome MaxMara jumper teamed with a cap on the British Vogue August cover, her eye just pop beautifully – stunning cover.

Also are caps having a moment? I was just saying earlier how chic Diane Kruger looked in a flat cap at the Chanel show yesterday. Also caps on covers always seems to work well – I also loved Victoria Beckham for i-D magazine back in February.

I am not sure if I prefer it over the American cover, they both work for me, I think I will have to see the accompanying editorial to pass judgement.

What do you think – are you loving Emma Stone’s Vogue cover spree?

Cover Loving: Kate Moss as David Bowie – Again

voguepariskate Cover Loving: Kate Moss as David Bowie Again %tag
As you all will know by now I am an avid Vogue Paris reader, but I have to confess I am not sure about the December/January cover showing Kate Moss transformed into Ziggy Stardust. As a David Bowie tribute goes it is authentic, complete with the bright orange-hued mullet wig, but I kind of think that Vogue UK did a better job depicting Kate as Bowie on their May 2003 cover shot by Nick Knight.

One thing I do love though is the sparkly Balmain dress and her striking stare.

Also is Moss getting younger or have Paris Vogue gone a little crazy with the photoshop??

Cover Loving: Vickie B Goes Casual For Vogue UK

Pic: Vogue UK - February 2011

Well we all saw it first via eBay, but here is the Victoria Beckham cover for Vogue UK, and I love the fact that it is showing a different side of her. Shot by Alasdair McLellan, this is the first un-posed look I have seen from the WAG-turned-fashion designer, and it really suits her.

Who would have thought Victoria Beckham could do a soft look cover? Well I didn’t, but it is refreshing to see, but I have to admit that I so glad that it still includes her famous pout. Lovely cover and I can’t wait to see the editorial spread inside tomorrow when I pick up my copy.

Bit of a difference from her Vogue UK debut in  April 2008, shot by Nick Knight, looking all glam. Think I prefer the February issue to be honest.
