Victoria Beckham: “The Queen Is An Icon”

VBeckhamQueen Victoria Beckham: The Queen Is An Icon %tag

I am a big fan of Victoria Beckham, granted she wasn’t the best singer in the world, but come on I think we can all agree that fashion was certainly more her calling, and I am loving this insightful video that she has realised as part of her ambassador duties for the GREAT campaign, which promotes the UK abroad.

In this video Victoria shares her thoughts on what she believes makes Great Britain so special, discussing everything from fashion to music, yes she did put the Spice Girls up alongside names like Oasis and the Stone Roses, as well as sharing the fact that David can’t dance, and how Anna Wintour is the most respected British woman in fashion.

Victoria also shares her love and memories for Camden Market, why she wanted to become a fashion designer, why her line is based in Britain, and my favourite part is when she discusses The Queen.

“The Queen is an icon. She’s so appropriate and very very chic – I mean, she’s the Queen!”

Taking about her fashion line, Victoria added:

“I want to empower women, I want to make women feel good about themselves and for me to be able to achieve the quality that I want to give my customer, I have to do that in London. My brand is British, my team are all British, you can feel the energy as you’re driving through London.”

When it comes to the Great British fashion brands, I do think that Victoria Beckham deserves a place alongside these names:

“In Britain we have some incredible brands, when you look at Burberry, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Mackintosh, Hunter – we have really cool, quality British brands and I’m really proud to consider myself one of those.”

Looking amazing in one of her own designs this is most naturally I have seen Victoria in a video, and I love it when she giggles and asks “is that me?” when a drawing of herself in one of her hand-to-ear poses is shown. It is also nice to hear that even though she lives in America she is still very proud to be British!!!

So what makes you proud to be British?

Range Rover: Victoria Beckham In Her AW12 Line

Over the weekend, Land Rover unveiled the Range Rover Evoque special edition, a collaboration between Land Rover Design, led by Gerry McGovern with Victoria Beckham, who was appointed Creative Design Executive in July 2010. It has taken 18-months but the car has finally launched, and of course they couldn’t do just one event at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, nope Victoria Beckham was on hand for three – a photocall, an afternoon tea, and a party, which means we got three great VB looks, all from her fabulous autumn/winter 2012 collection.

For the photocall, Victoria went for her classic chic black fitted dress, which falls just below-the-knee, and teamed with nude ankle-strap peep-toe heels, and her hair down.

My favourite of the three looks was her afternoon tea outfit, a tight-fitted light grey dress with maroon collar and cuff detailing, teamed with a double wrapped leather belt and knee-high peep-toe boots. I am loving not only the details of the collar and cuff, but also the colour, the side-swept ponytail and her smoky eyes – this a great look. The only thing I am not sure about is the boots, I am not 100% sold on the peep-toes.

The party look was another great choice, opting again for the light grey, but this time the strapless dress has a colour-block design with black and maroon to the bodice. I like the dress, but I am not keen on those peep-toe knee-high boots styling for a party look, if she had worn it with different heels, and maybe the dress was different colours from her afternoon tea dress then this might have been my favourite.

Which of the three looks do you prefer?

Cover Loving: All Hail Queen Victoria

Seriously, Victoria Beckham keeps on surprising me lately, and her cover for the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar China just blew me away.  Shot by Chinese photographer Chen Man, I love Victoria’s fiery red hair in this very avant-garde editorial shoot, where she kind of look like a video game character.

Everything from the couture styling to her cat-like eyes with yellowy gold eyeshadow, to that gorgeous Asian head-dress, this is an almost unrecognisable Victoria Beckham and I love it.

My Chinese is a little rusty, or should I say no-existent, but I have been assured that it hails Victoria as ‘Queen Victoria’ and I quite agree I love this editorial spread.

I think I prefer this cover to her UK Harper’s Bazaar cover, which don’t get me wrong was beautiful, but the Chinese edition gets my vote just for doing something completely different with her.

What do you think UK or China?

Cover Loving: Victoria Beckham Stuns Me Again

VictoriaBeckham Cover Loving: Victoria Beckham Stuns Me Again %tag

Harper’s Bazaar know how to get me to buy their May issue, add a gorgeous looking Victoria Beckham and rework the masthead typeface into a whimsical script, which is perfect for this floral cover. Shot by Camilla Akrans, Victoria Beckham is stunning in her Prada spring/summer 2012 one-piece, but what stands out the most for me is how flawless her face looks – her cat eyes are divine.

I loved her recent i-D cover, which I thought was her best ever cover, but I think this Harper’s Bazaar might be top of the list now – what do you think?

I am excited to see the accompanying editorial spread as well as read the interview with ‘Queen Victoria’. Will you be buying the May issue?

Madame Figaro: Victoria Beckham Doll-Like Editorial

Victoria1 Madame Figaro: Victoria Beckham Doll Like Editorial %tag

I love finding editorial spreads that have a doll-like quality about them, and these snaps of Victoria Beckham for French magazine Madame Figaro are some of my favourites of her. The top image is just divine, not only is Victoria wearing the most exquisite Prada body with embroidered lace flowers on it, but her pose is very Barbie-lious – the arms, the perfect arch of her back, and that tiny waist - she really makes a great doll.

I also think the setting of the shoot helps as it looks like she is in a giant dolls house, as well as her great figure and the gorgeous clothes – with her own designs mixed in with Hakaan, Lanvin, and Alexander Wang, this is one of the best editorial spreads I have seen her in for a while. I continue to be blown away by Victoria Beckham – I loved her autumn/winter 2012 collection, her recent i-D cover was sublime, and I am loving seeing all her designs hitting the red carpet.

If you have time pop on over to Madame Figaro’s website as the interview is quite revealing, Victoria talks about her family, how she came about setting up her fashion label, that she is obsessed with Clemence Posey, and how she would love to see the world through the eyes of Miuccia Prada – apparently ‘her vision of fashion is ultra-intelligent’ – I totally agree.

NYFW: Victoria Beckham – When Military-Met-Sporty

AW12VBWeb1 NYFW: Victoria Beckham When Military Met Sporty %tag

Victoria Beckham has proved that she is a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry with her latest collection – I just absolutely loved it all. This collection really showed how much the label has evolved, her trademark fitted dresses were still present and looking amazing, but they were joined by beautifully tailored coats, flirty skirts and lots of cute details such as baseball collars, as well as military epaulettes and buttons.

AW12VBWeb2 NYFW: Victoria Beckham When Military Met Sporty %tag

This was a capsule collection of 22 day dresses, or as Victoria put it ‘workwear’ featuring shorter cocktail and day dresses, which was just a taster of the autumn/winter 2012 line. I have to admit my first thought was that there wasn’t any formal eveningwear, which I am sure was worrying a few stylists, but apparently there are options in the showroom for buyers and celebrities to feast on for the Oscars.

I loved her use of colour against a mainly black palette, the pops of red and sky blue looked amazing against the autumnal olive and maroon tones. Her use of contrasting colourways worked well on the sporty dresses, as did the inclusion of the magic trick dress that makes you look slimmer with the centre panel in a different colour – but most of all I adored the baseball-style collars and the styling of football socks slouched down with motorbike boots.

Overall this collection had all of her touches with the figure-hugging silhouettes but with an added confidence with the addition of gorgeous tailored coats, and I just adored the added twists of flirty short sleeveless dresses with epaulettes but nothing to hang them onto, as well as the harness-style straps, gold military button details and the exposed zips down the back of the dresses.

There was also a nod to her family for autumn/winter with David snapping away on the front row to the beanies inspired by his favourite headgear, and the baseball style touches coming from their son Romeo, and there was even a bag named after baby girl Harper.

Pic Loving: Victoria Beckham Has David By The Balls

VictoriaBeckhamBalls Pic Loving: Victoria Beckham Has David By The Balls %tag

OMG I love this picture that David Beckham just posted on his Facebook page of his wife Victoria along with the caption, “So proud of my wife taking #NYFW by the balls” – hilarious!!!

Showing Victoria cupping David’s assets on his H&M billboard is really genius – I so wish I had though of that!!!

I just love that Victoria knows how to have a laugh – and this picture just proves what I’ve always thought that she really is the boss in that relationship and has always had David by the balls. Also that is one hot dress – LOVE it.
