Cover Loving: Vickie B Goes Casual For Vogue UK

Pic: Vogue UK - February 2011

Well we all saw it first via eBay, but here is the Victoria Beckham cover for Vogue UK, and I love the fact that it is showing a different side of her. Shot by Alasdair McLellan, this is the first un-posed look I have seen from the WAG-turned-fashion designer, and it really suits her.

Who would have thought Victoria Beckham could do a soft look cover? Well I didn’t, but it is refreshing to see, but I have to admit that I so glad that it still includes her famous pout. Lovely cover and I can’t wait to see the editorial spread inside tomorrow when I pick up my copy.

Bit of a difference from her Vogue UK debut in  April 2008, shot by Nick Knight, looking all glam. Think I prefer the February issue to be honest.

Tweet up: Vickie B Joins Twitter And Gets Fashion Award Nomination

Big congratulations to Victoria Beckham as she has been nominated for her first British Fashion Awards for best British Brand, up against tough competition from Burberry, Pringle of Scotland and Mulberry – but hey it is the being nominated that counts!!

But come on Victoria deserves her nod from the British Fashion Council as the spirit of the awards is all about recognising the most influential people in fashion today and celebrate the reputation and development of British fashion. No matter what you think about Vickie B is that she does fly the flag for British talent and fashion. The winner’s are announced at a glitzy ceremony in London on December 7 – can’t wait to see what she wears!!

And starting today and through New York Fashion Week, Victoria will be tweeting herself via @vbfashionweek, sharing her preparation to her spring/summer 2011 fashion presentation. Sadly it is only a short, but I am sure it will a sweet visit to Twitterville as it is just for NYFW.

So in 22 hours we have two tweets, following 10 – from the likes of her pal Eva Longoria to footwear designer Brian Atwood, and a staggering 37,636 following her every tweet:

I can’t wait for more updates and I must admit I am secretly hoping that she catches the Twitter bug as I would love her to take me on her globe-trotting lifestyle!!

New Gig: Vickie B For Range Rover

One-fifth of Spice Girls-wife-global brand-mother-solo singer-style icon-fashion designer-Spice Girl reborn-acclaimed fashion designer-and now Creative Design Executive for Range Rover. Kind of impressive timeline for Victoria Beckham, and the most interesting if not bizarre roles that she has taken on.

Announced at the car’s 40th birthday celebrations with Vogue, at The Orangery, Kensington Palace, Vickie B looked stunning in a nude dress from her own AW10 collection, teamed with Brian Atwood nude heels.
Her new role will see her collaborating with the design team on a future special edition Range Rover design, starting with the special edition Range Rover Evoque, which will be unveiled next year at the Paris Car Show, and will be on sale from next Summer.

“Victoria Beckham is a talented British fashion designer and is extremely knowledgeable about great design and trends,” said Gerry McGovern.  “Victoria understands luxury products – she is a Range Rover fan and has been a Range Rover owner for many years. Her fashion business is now in its third year and her designs are loved by critics and bought by many of the most stylish women in the world. I believe this appointment adds a new dimension to my design team as we continue to design products to appeal to a wider audience.”

The swanky bash was attended by over 300 people, including some of Vickie B’s favourite designers, Julien MacDonald, Matthew Williamson and Roland Mouret; as well as model Erin O’Connor, Zara Phillips, Alex James, and Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman who apparently was responsible for introducing Vicky B to the car manufacturer.

“This is a very exciting collaboration. The classic British heritage of Range Rover and the effortless style, quality and beauty is something I truly admire and also what I hope to achieve with my own brand.  I am honoured to take on this role and be part of the creative team.”

Is it too early to say that I want to be on the waiting list? I can’t wait to see what Vickie B comes up with. I have a Freelander at the moment and love Land Rover so a Victoria Beckham designed car would be a stylist upgrade!!
