I know I have only been engaged just over a week, but it is amazing how quickly you actually get immersed into searching the internet for wedding ideas, and how much more interested you are to see actual wedding pictures. One real wedding that has caught my eye is ‘The Big Bang Theory’ star Kaley Cuoco who went for full on fairy princess for her wedding to tennis player Ryan Sweeting on New Year’s Eve.
Like Kaley, I also don’t really want a white gown, I am thinking more like dusky pink, off-white or even dove grey, but I have to be honest I had been considering a Barbie pink one as it makes such a statement. Everything about Kaley’s custom Vera Wang gown is divine, from the petal pink hue to the strapless tulle ball gown silhouette and the gorgeous sweetheart neckline. Also if you look closely you can see hand appliqué Chantilly lace accents.
Even if you think the pink shade is too much you have to agree that she looks absolutely radiant and I can’t wait to see the official photographs as she apparently she accessorised her romantic gown with a nude tulle veil with pink hand appliqué Chantilly lace.
Kaley isn’t the only celebrity who has recently worn a pink wedding dress – Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel and Reese Witherspoon all went for the fashion-forward choice.
Would you wear a pink dress for your wedding?
As well as loving Kaley’s pink gown – I also noticed on her Twitter that she had an upside down six-tiered chandelier wedding cake made by The Butter End Cakery. This is such a cool idea, not only is it so original but wow what a statement piece for the reception. The cake didn’t just look amazing it sounds pretty amazing as the two-flavour cake was almond with toasted almond cream cheese buttercream frosting and chocolate almond cherry with cherry cream cheese buttercream frosting – sounds yummy!!!
I was actually contemplating not having a wedding cake and having more of a full-on dessert table with all my favourites but this beauty might have changed my mind to do more of a statement.
What do you think of this amazing cake?
Who: Oscar-nominee Viola Davis
Where: At the 84th Academy Awards held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles
Wearing: A custom emerald-green corseted faille Vera Wang gown with floral crystal appliques and a draped chiffon pleated skirt, teamed with a crystallised box clutch, diamond cuff and earrings
Verdict: Wow, the colour, the silhouette, the beaded detailing to the bust, and her hair – LOVE this look on Viola Davis so much. It seems that Vera Wang continues to surprise me with her exquisite evening gowns, like with Michelle Williams in 2006 this is another dress that works colour and structure perfectly.
Where: At the 69th annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles
Wearing: In a custom Vera Wang peacock strapless mermaid gown, with knife-pleated bodice and sheared bias flange skirt detail, teamed with a diamond cuff and earrings
Verdict: Quote of the night is Sofia discussing why she choose Vera Wang, “they zip and they close” – classic!!! I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that Sofia and Vera Wang seem meant for one another as this is a gorgeous dress. I love the colour, the pleated bodice but most of all the mermaid silhouette totally works Sofia’s curves. Gorgeous!!!

OK, I know I am not the only one who is excited by Kim Kardashian getting married to basketball star Kris Humphries, so I thought I do a quick run down of what we know, what I am most excited about and to see if I am the only one *please don’t let this be true*!!
Well it really has been a year of famous K’s getting married, first it was Kate Middleton now Duchess of Cambridge, then supermodel Kate Moss, and now the most famous of the Kardashian sisters Kim is tying the knot to her toy-boy, well he is 26 and she is 30.
Sadly as I am in London and the wedding is taking place in California, to be exact the Sotto Il Monte estate in Montecito, I reckon I will be a sleep when Kim or one her of the Kardashian clan no doubt Twitpic a snap of her dress so readers from over the pond you will have to let me know what you think.
What we know *or should I say what the gossip mags are saying*:
- that her dress has been designed by Vera Wang, but no word on colour or style as apparently the dress code for guest is black and white so maybe she is going in a different direction for her gown
- that her bridesmaids and maids of honour will wear green *well according to Kourtney on Twitter, I reckon that this might not be true, can’t really see Khloe in green*
- the groom and his best man will wear Ermenegildo Zegna *as it is an evening wedding I am thinking tux style*
- the guestlist will be celeb filled including Kelly Osbourne, Serena Williams, and even Eva Longoria
- the whole event is being filmed exclusive by E! *yes to capture all the tears and drama*
But let’s get back to the dress, Kim gave her biggest hint to the style on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show that it will be old-Hollywood inspired. I was thinking that she would go for a strapless fitted bodice and skirt, to show off her famous rear with a ruffled mermaid skirt, or I was hoping that she would go all OTT and go for a fairytale Disney princess style dress kind of like the one Vera Wang did for Barbie.
Also how is Kim going to wear her hair – up or down, what bling will she have, what shoes, and will she have a tiara? Seriously so many questions that I can’t wait to be answered. I know sad right!!
Sadly I am off to a baby shower tomorrow and then a few days away, don’t worry folks I have some post scheduled to keep you going, but my Kim K wedding dissection might not happen until mid next week *don’t cry*. Of course travelling won’t stop me from tweeting so I am sure I will voice my views there – so make sure you are following me @FashioNBarbie and let me know what you think.
As you know I do adore Gossip Girl, I think in part it is because I want to be Blair, well yesterday Leighton Meester came to London to launch Vera Wang’s new fragrance Lovestruck, which she is the face of, and OMG how beautiful she is.
I didn’t actually get to meet the amazing Leighton or Vera Wang, like I did when Nicole Richie came to town, sadly I was just passing through Harrods and didn’t have the time to queue up and get a bottle of the perfume signed. But I did get a few snaps – I just loved how happy she looked, how friendly she seemed and seriously her make-up and hair was flawless.
Leighton looked gorgeous in Vera Wang of course, teaming her chiffon pleated sleeveless top with gorgeous stretch leather motorcycle leggings, finishing off her outfit with Brian Atwood heels.
