My LFW Style: Monochrome With A Pop Of Orange

My LFW Style: Monochrome With A Pop Of Orange

This is the first London Fashion Week in years where I haven’t done a full-on schedule, and surprisingly I am feeling more inspired than ever, which I think comes across in my growing confidence with my style posts, helped a lot by the fab Ashanti from AdornGirl who captured my look on the day. When I say more confident, I mean I don’t get super embarrassed every time a camera is pointed at me, I actually enjoyed myself, only taken me five years!!!

Pinspiration: Dressing Down A Sequin Skirt

Pinterest-sequin-skirt

There is something about wearing sequins that I think just brightens up any day. Sparkles in general I find helps with the darkness of winter, but sequins just add a whole need level of glamour that helps me cope with the cold. I am currently obsessed with dressing down sequins, especially skirts, with chunky jumpers, denim shirts and trainers, I love it when sequins are worn in a nonchalant way, and by pairing a sequins down it really does take the piece away from just partywear and makes it just cool daywear.

I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to sequin skirts, I love the idea of pairing a silver sequinned beauty with Benton strips, or a dark beauty with a denim shirt, and I am totally in love with brightly coloured trainers with a classic black sequin pencil skirt.

My formula to keeping it casual is to basically add one casual element, whether that’s a graphic print tee or sweatshirt, a chunky knit, or a cool pair of trainers, and then keep the rest of my look glam – it is as easy as that to have a cool daywear look without looking like you are trying to hard.

Fancy giving it a go? Well I have tracked down a host of sequin beauties on sale that are just perfect, I am lusting over the black sequin and feather pencil from Topshop, was £95 now only £30, and the vibrant figure-hugging sequinned skirt from French Connection with a swishy fishtail hem, was £120 now £48. I can imagine wearing both with a chunky grey marl jumper.

Just hover over each one for the brand and price, and then click through to snap up a bargain. I basically want them all.

How would you style a sequin skirt for a daytime look?

My Style: Pretty Floral Skirt

My-style-floral-skirt-6

No matter how hot is out there, even the hottest day of the year so far, it seems that I still can’t help wearing black and chunky boots, it seems that my wardrobe and style is all about winter. Don’t get me wrong I have pretty dresses in summer hues, I get them out on occasions, it is just I prefer black. So my compromise, with myself to wear more summery clothes, is this adorable dark floral skirt.

I don’t have many floral prints in my wardrobe but this one appealed due to the darker vibe as well as the neon pink kick, plus it is in my favourite flattering skater skirt silhouette. I was going to pair this Primark beauty with a neon pink boyfriend T-shirt, but I just couldn’t find it, but my trusty black one was easy to find, I have like 10 of them!!!

But you know what, I think the print and bare legs make this look summery enough, I hope, but I do think a brighter or even white top would have made it pop even more in the sunshine. I think the extra sparkle of this gorgeous Next necklace and Citizen Eco-Drive watch helps though – they both really catch the light perfectly.

Are you a lover of wearing black even on the hottest of days?

My Style: Living In A Barbie World

Barbie-Primrose-Hill-6

I spend a lot of time living in a Barbie world, I write my blog in front of around 30 of my favourite dolls crammed into my office, but for some reason other than the odd piece of Barbie jewellery I have never worn a piece of doll loving attire on here, well that is until now!!!

I spied this beauty of a top in Primark, I instantly fell in love with it not just for the Barbie overload but also the cool sporty arms, kind of makes me think if Barbie was to have her own baseball team this is what she would wear. This top is also a great transitional piece for those less than sunny days, as the elbow-length sleeves make it perfect for keeping the chill off. As the top is doing all the talking I decided to keep the rest of my look quite plain and this black skirt from New Look is just perfect for my casual look.

I also think my Barbie look went perfectly with the pink coloured houses of Primrose Hill. Not an area of London I have spent that much time in, not sure why as I was mesmerised by the rows and rows of pastel coloured town houses, such a cute area and the perfect location for The Apartment‘s spring break. There was a fun, chilled out schedule of yoga, a blow dry masterclass and movie marathons, as well as gorgeous nibbles from Aubaine. Unlike fashion week when it is a little crazy it was nice to catch up with friends and enjoy just lounging about, plus I also got to get the fab guys at Blow Ltd to do my hair, I really do think I am a little addicted to their Beach blow dry.

As well as debut my first Barbie-adorned piece of clothing I also wore my new Citizen Eco-Drive watch for the first time. My watch collection has grown over the years, I blame my fiancé he loves watches, but this Swarovski crystallised beauty has to be one of my favourites. I have lots of watches that are either stylish or functional, not many do both, but the Eco-Drive really does with its silver accents, sparkle, and white dial, teamed with day, date and 12/24 hour time displayed in three sub dials. Normally when a watch has so much going on it isn’t as feminine or glamorous, but I think you have to agree this is one gorgeous watch. Best of all, apart from it being so comfortable to wear, I also love that it doesn’t need a battery, this little cutie harnesses the power of light. I have to be honest I am seriously impressed and I think I have worn it nearly every day since it arrived.
