My Style: Summer Walk By The River

This weekend I embraced the sunny weather, because let’s be honest we don’t know how long it is going to last for. On Saturday, I generally sat around the garden, lounged around reading magazines, occasionally helped with the gardening, and munched on BBQ food, which kind of spur me to get up early on Sunday for a walk down the River Cam.

Living in South Cambridgeshire I get the best of both world’s I am not too far from London, no matter what some people think, and I get to explore the gorgeous countryside, quaint towns and adorable villages. One of my favourite villages, and on my wishlist of dream locations to live has to be Grantchester, which is just outside Cambridge.

This is a village that isn’t that big but has three great pubs and an amazing outdoor tea room, which is where we started our Sunday stroll, well I needed to fill up before the walk and I do love lounging about in a deck chair!!!

From there we headed down the river until we came to the edge of Cambridge and headed into town, it took about an hour, we weren’t rushing and it was hot, but it was such a lovely walk. It was fun watching the tourists try their hand at punting, the new canoeists going round in circles, the cute dogs swimming in the river, and the adorable swans.

I always find it hard to decide what to wear on hot days, it is that worry of getting my legs out, wearing something that will reveal my less than stellar body, so I decided to go for a fun floral skirt, tee and bright trainers – easy, casual and comfortable. Although, as it was so hot I am not sure why I opted to wear a black top, such a mistake, I love the loose fit of my boyfriend tee from Primark I just wish I had worn my white one instead.

I also wore my Lulu Guinness watch, which I am obsessed with, and as it has a larger face that my other watches I now have a large tan mark on my left arm!!!

What did you do this weekend to enjoy the sun?

My Style: Cats & Dogs Without The Rain

While visiting Columbia Road it seemed rude not to snap my outfit, but instead of a flower stall backdrop I decided that this beautiful floral mosaic wall that was on one of the side streets was much prettier.

It was milder last week than it is now so I was fine to wear this look without a huge winter jacket. I love skater skirts, they are just easy to wear, comfortable, and look great with a statement knit, a blazer jacket and biker boots, which to me equals weekend staple!!!

I know that I have been going crazy on the animal jumpers, I promise this will be the last one, as even though it is pretty it malted worse than my real cats, which is why no close up as the grey furry wool is all over my blazer.

To add a bit of warmth I paired my look with my dalmatian print scarf from New Look, which was a complete bargain at £7.99, and the cobalt colour meant I could get my trusty Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag out of storage – oh how I have missed this bag!!!

What are your go-to weekend staples?

My Style: What I Wore To My Friend’s Wedding

Last weekend, before the weather turned on us, I was enjoying the sun down in Sussex for my friend’s wedding. It was a small but sophisticated affair at the gorgeous Marco Pierre White venue Kings Barns, and the day was just so much fun-filled with lots of Pims, laughter with friends, delicious food especially the strawberry Pavlova, a little bit of crazy dancing, adorable bunting, and most importantly a stunning bride and handsome groom.

This was my second wedding of the summer, I still have another two to go before the year is up, but this is the one I have been most excited about as both Jim and Sarah are close friends. I don’t think I have been to such a fun and relaxed wedding before, I adored Sarah’s striking dress she really did look gorgeous and I admired Jim for wearing his dress uniform, it was scorching and that uniform looked warm, but he did look incredible.

I had been panicking slightly about what to wear as I knew it was going to be such a great day, when I saw this gorgeous nude pink dress in Warehouse I was blown away, I completely fell in love with its Art Deco-inspired sequin embellished neck line. I have to be honest I was a little worried about going for such a light colour, I am normally in the colour scheme closer to black, but as soon as I tried it on and twirled in the chiffon full skirt it just felt right.

With the statement detailing on the front I didn’t go crazy on my accessories, opting for platform strappy Calvin Klein Collection shoes, which were the most comfortable shoe ever and a bargain from The Outnet clearance sale, as well as an Art Dec-style clutch from Warehouse, a couple of my favourite charm and diamond bracelets, well it wouldn’t be right without some arm candy, and finishing off my look were my new specs from Specsavers.

I always worry about having to wear glasses at weddings and parties, I could wear contacts but touching my own eyes creeps me out, but these Karen Millen beauties are perfect when dressing up. I love the matt finish to frames, I find shiny a little too much at times, and these are the lightest glasses I own so it really didn’t feel like I was even wearing glasses.

My Style: Warehouse block sequinned dress; Calvin Klein Collection platforms from The Outnet; Warehouse Art Deco box clutch; Thomas Sabo charm bracelet; Swarovski diamond bracelet; Karen Millen glasses c/o Specsavers.

I didn’t want to go too crazy in sharing pictures from the day, but here are a few of my favourites: First up we have Paulie and I with Mr and Mrs Priestley, I blame the heat for Paulie taking off his tie and jacket as he really did looked dapper. Below is a close up of Jim’s medal bling; the happy couple I just adore Sarah’s wedding dress; and the last photo is Paulie with our close friends Olly, Marcus, Jim, Pete and Mat.

My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks

At the weekend I went to my boyfriend’s oldest friends wedding, they were born an hour apart and have been friends ever since, so I decided to work two very different dresses from the Marks and Spencer Limited Collection. I know what you are thinking two dresses to a wedding that isn’t my own is a little excessive, well in my defence I was invited to the wedding ceremony at the church and then the evening bash, so with the downtime in-between I decided that I wanted to try out my new LBD in the evening.

So, for the main event the wedding ceremony was in the most gorgeous church just behind Poole Quay, and I decided to be extra brave and work this amazing bright coloured digi-print from Marks & Spencer’s amazing Limited Collection. As soon as I tried it on I knew instantly that I loved it because of the colours and the flirty silhouette, I was a little worried however if I could pull it off. As it was so bright, I knew that working a bright pair of shoes would be perfect, as well as a bright colour on my nails, I went for Rimmel’s Peppermint shade. I did also look for a bright blue clutch but I couldn’t find one anywhere, but I am so glad that I went for this Art Deco-style clutch box from Warehouse as it will go with everything.

My Style: Marks & Spencer – Limited Collection, Abstract Print Dress, £39.50 (c/o); Warehouse, Deco Box Bag, £26; Marks & Spencer – Limited Collection, Red Raffia Sandals, £29.50; Swarovski Bracelet; Thomas Sabo Charm Bracelets.

For the evening bash, which was in the RNLI’s Head Quarter’s right on the quay, I decided to work my new little black dress, basically I loved the print number but I forgot my white blazer and the black didn’t work and it was a little nippy, so I went for a black number teamed with my fiery heels.

Firstly I am in love with this dress, only £25 from Marks & Spencer it is a complete bargain and it is super flattering, I felt slim and sexy all night and I loved it paired with my blazer from New Look. I broke up the black with a skinny cream belt from Warehouse, which matched my clutch perfectly. I also changed up my jewellery a little and added a cool gold beaded doll bracelet from Maggie Angus’ new autumn/winter 2012 collection, which got a lot of lovely comments.

My Style: Marks & Spencer – Limited Collection, Scoop Neck Plain Dress, £25; New Look – Blazer; Warehouse – Clutch as above; Warehouse – Belt; Marks & Spencer – Limited Collection heels as above; Swarovski Bracelet; Thomas Sabo – Charm Bracelets; Maggie Angus – Doll Bracelet (c/o).

So which look do you prefer? Full on print or LBD?
