Cover Loving: ELLE US Hollywood Issue – Reese, Penélope, Melissa & Shailene

American ELLE’s Hollywood issue is one of my favourite magazines to pick up as I love the mix of actresses they go for – and this year is no exception with Reese Witherspoon, Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, and Melissa McCarthy all gracing the cover.

My favourite cover this year is a difficult choice – between Penélope Cruz, who looks stunning wearing a cashmere sweater by The Row and Chopard jewellery – I love how they’ve kept her make-up to a minimal to show off her adorable freckles, and Shailene Woodley, even though this cover looks set for summer rather than autumn wearing Calvin Klein Swimwear there is something different about the pose that makes it stand out.

Reese Witherspoon’s cover is probably the most predictable, but nevertheless she still looks stunning in a sexy Versace number. The cover I think I was most disappointed with was Melissa McCarthy styled in an oversized Marina Rinaldi coat with OTT eighties hair – I can only imagine how much hairspray they used.

Online there also seems to be another two covers featuring Marion Cotillard working the crop top trend in Dior, and British actress Naomie Harris looking absolutely gorgeous in a Calvin Klein Collection wrap halter top and skirt, very similar to the one that Rose Byrne wore to the Primetime Emmys.

Considering this is a November cover there is a lot of skin on show – especially with the main fashion tagline being ‘the perfect coat shape’. It is hard to decide on my favourite but I think it has to be Penélope Cruz as she just looks gorgeous and is really the only one, except for Melissa wearing anything autumn related.

Which cover is your favourite? Also do you think these covers seem more appropriate for spring/summer than November?

Met Gala 2012: Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row

Who: Mary-Kate Olsen

Where: At the 2012 Met Gala in New York

Wearing: A custom-made, floor-length, black silk The Row gown

Verdict: I have to be honest, I really want to love this Goth-inspired dramatic gown, but something is holding me back. I am not sure whether it is because there is too much dress, she seems to be drowning in all the detailing of the structured bodice, the wrap-style waist band, the high neckline and the long-sleeves.

Maybe it is because it is in black, would a different colour have helped? Or maybe it is because Mary-Kate came solo, would Ashley have balanced out this look?

I am thinking this dress isn’t going to be very popular, what do you think?

Street Style: Jennifer Lopez Shines In Hollywood

Who: Jennifer Lopez

Where: Arriving at the Civic Center for the American Idol’s Hollywood Week auditions this week

Wearing: Flared white Milly trousers, a black top, with a divine mustard Hamilton wool-crepe The Row coat from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, teamed with Charlotte Olympia Dolly platforms and over-sized sunglasses. Finishing off this sophisticated daytime look is a very glamorous Giambattista Valli leopard-print clutch, which works perfectly against that bright coat.

Verdict: I am loving Jennifer Lopez since she started on American Idol and I was excited to see her wearing the Olsen twins The Row recently in Hollywood, especially this perfect mustard yellow. I loved the 70s vibe of the whole look from the white flared trousers to her Charlie’s Angels bouncy hair and those huge sunglasses – she works this look to perfection and I adore it.

Picture Perfect: How Adorable Is Ashley Olsen?

Without the tiny dachshund dog this would still be an adorable picture, but come on how much of a style icon does Ashley Olsen look in this casual shot?

I am totally in love with this look, from the gorgeous caramel bag from The Row’s autumn/winter 2011 collection, to the crisp white shirt, the immaculate dotty print black midi skirt *is it Louis Vuitton??*, Chanel black and gold gladiator sandals and those striking Prada sunnies.

I don’t know whether it is because I have been watching too many Sex and the City repeats but she looks very Charlotte on her doggie walk in New York City.

A truly elegant and polished look, finished off perfectly with her hair slicked back – please, please when I grow up can I be an Olsen twin??

CFDA Awards: Olsen Twins Work The Row Bags

Who: Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen

Where: At the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City

Wearing: Ashley is wearing a strapless pale blue dress from The Row, teamed with gold heels and a tan coloured The Row handbag; while Mary-Kate is sporting a black The Row dress with a drop hem, teamed with a sparkly gold sequinned Chanel jacket from the pre-fall 2011 collection and gold strappy heels, and completing her look is a cream The Row handbag

Verdict: First off I can’t believe that they didn’t win the Swarovski Award for Womenswear *it went to Prabal Gurung*, secondly how amazing do they both look – this is the best I have seen them in a while, and thirdly I love how they completely work their own designs in different ways, but still do the twin thing with their matching bags – completely adorable.

I think I prefer Ashley’s handbag the colour is classic, but I adore Mary-Kate in that Chanel blazer, which kind of looks a little big on her but I think that is why it works. I also adore Mary-Kate’s make-up and half-up-half-down hair, she looks so happy in this picture I just love her look.

I also can’t believe that the two only turn 25 next week *June 13*, anyone else feel like they should be older – they’ve done so much!!

So which Olsen gets your vote?

Hollywood Style Awards: Lea Michele Rocks The Row

Who: Glee starlet Lea Michele

Where: At the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles

Wearing: A white textured strapless The Row column gown teamed with nude Louboutin heels

Verdict: At first I wasn’t sure about this look. I love a column gown, but this one had me questioning whether it worked, and think mainly my initial problems were on the colour and the length. I have been writing this post all day as I keep changing my mind on whether I like it or not.

Let’s go with what I like: the textured detailing is a great addition to this dress, I love the casual vibe that you get with The Row with the pockets, and to be honest the only thing that works with the length for me is that it is strapless.

What I am not so sure about: it has to be the colour if this was in black or navy I don’t think I would have gone back and forth like I have, I am also thinking she could have done more with her hair and shoes.

I am just torn on whether this is a hit or a miss dress – what do you guys think?
