Introducing: Medwinds Mediterranean Style

Last week I was introduced to Spanish brand Medwinds debut spring/summer 2011 collection at Cube PR’s showroom and I instantly feel in love with its relaxed Mediterranean charm. Launched in Barcelona earlier this year the online brand offers high quality clothing and accessories for both women and men with competitive prices, and free shipping and returns.

I don’t like to compare brands, but when they are new I think it is needed to get them noticed, so I would say that Medwinds is kind of a mix between GAP and H&M with its gorgeous selection of plain basics, from t-shirts, dresses, blouses and shorts. Perfect additions to any wardrobe, from casual weekend pieces to stylish work options.

What I was most surprised about were the details, I loved the cute collars on the blouses, the pleating on tops and dresses, and most of all the soft pastel shades. Think of Medwinds as an affordable holiday collection, it has everything you need to enjoy the summer, complete with swimwear.

I think the items that gained the most attention had to be the footwear and handbag collections, and I have to admit I was one of them, but really I shouldn’t have been surprised as the brand is from the people behind footwear Camper.

They offer a great selection of flats, wedges, work shoes, evening heels and my favourite pair has to be these gorgeous peep-toe tan wooden wedges.

I always love it how bloggers are generally drawn to the same item at events like this, at Tabio it was a pair of tights, and at Medwinds it was this exquisite Marsella Tote bag, with its soft tan leather and enough room to carry everything a fashionista would need. It definitely made it to my wish-list!!

Even the men’s collection is divine, with loose-fitting t-shirts, shorts, swimwear and stylish bowling ball shoes.

As well as the clothes and shoes it was an evening of great company, it is always nice catching up with the Cube PR gang, but I also got to see the lovely Alex Loves in her beautiful Erdem dress and Lois aka Bunni Punch working the Medwinds bag that I want.

Video Loving: Lanvin Gets Its Fight On!

I am not sure how I have missed this amazing video for the Lanvin spring/summer 2011 collection, but Steven Meisel has models Iselin Steiro and Kinga Rajzak fighting each other. Also did I mention it is all done to the soundtrack of Superfreak – amazing I love it!!

Also is jerky movement a new trend?

Hot Trend: Palazzo Pants – Trouser Of The Season

ASOS - £40

So for spring/summer 2011 you may have noticed that skinny is out and wide is in, and when you are looking at Palazzo Pants, the wider the better!! However, when you suggest wide trousers, I think most are a little scared to give them a go as they think they are going to make them look bigger than they are, however Palazzo Pants are surprisingly flattering.

Seen at many SS11 shows, from floral beauties at D&G to gorgeous pleated ones at Richard Nicoll. The high street has ones to suit everyone at the moment.

Still feeling unsure? Well follow these tips and embrace this fluid style – trust me you will love it, from the swish as you walk to the comfort.

Shoes: Palazzo is all about the 7os vibe, so embrace it with sticking to wedges or chunky heeled shoes, go for height and they will make your legs look like they go on for miles.

Tuck in or belt up: It is all about defining your waist to balance your sihouette, so think pussy-bow blouses, vest and camisole two-pieces, or just go for a simple tee tucked in.

Finishing touches: To take off the summer chill pair with a leather jacket or a cropped blazer for a more tailored look. I would also recommend chunky bangles and jewellery for a great 70s look.

Top picks: My favourite has to be the ASOS Palazzo Pants (above), £40 –  I love the high waist design with double buttoned waistband, added together with the pleated front they reeally are divine. What makes them even better, well the price for one very reasonable at £40, but they also come in three different colours: Withered Rose (pictured), Jade and Olive.

Dorothy Perkins - £35

Dots aren’t going away any time soon, so why not pick up these black spot palazzo trousers from Dorothy Perkins for £35.

River Island - £34.99

When it comes to floral prints I think these River Island blue floral print belted palazzo trousers are one of my favourites, only £34.99, and comes with a perfect belt. Wear with a black tee for simple-yet-comfortable.

Matalan - £16

If the River Island aren’t wider enough, or even bolder enough in the flower stakes then you have to go for these great value ones from Matalan. These Papaya print trousers are only £16.

New Look - £28.99

But if like me you need to work you way up to bold prints, check out New Look who have some amazing block colour ones. My pick has to be these Crepe Wide Leg Trousers in magenta, only £28.99, and they even come in coral.

So which ones are you going to go for?

Gorgeous Clothes Alert: Faun Bloggers Tea Party

This really has been an amazing week, not only for myself but for the exposure of my prized possession, this blog. After a successful Bertie blogger event, I got a last minute invite to an intimate blogger’s tea party to check out new womenswear label, Faun, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled as this is one seriously gorgeous new brand.

This event had everything you would want from a tea party: a fabulous location at the Out Of Town, a cafe-cum-furniture shop-cum vintage haven *if you haven’t been you should – it is amazing*, you could buy everything from the seats that we were sat on to the amazing Singer sewing machine; then we had truly scrummy cupcakes and cake pops from Molly Bakes; great company, I got to have a catch up and a gossip with Carina100, Wolf Whistle Amy, and I finally got to meet the lovely Alex Loves, and another of my favourite blogger’s La Vie a la Mode *gorgeous and stylish blogger – check her out*; and then to top it all off we got to swoon over new clothes. Yes, I love being a blogger!!

What makes this label for me has to be the quality – most pieces are silk or linen, and the wearability of the gorgeous, feminine clothes. The ethos behind the brand is to ‘bridge the gap between high street and catwalk’, and they certainly achieve that with this debut spring/summer 2011 collection.

The contemporary line features dresses, tunics, bias cut t-shirts and vests *which I have to get*, blouses and even shorts, we were also treated to a preview of the stunning tulip skirts which will be added for autumn/winter *trust me they are worth the wait*.

What I loved was the colour palette, cornflower blues, faded corals, and acid yellows – perfect for summer.

This is my favourite dress from the collection, I love the mixture of linen and silk, the utility vibe with the exposed zip and pockets, and most of all the casual vibe of the dress. Closely followed by this neon yellow colour block silk dress, super flattering, with its black elasticated waist and I love the draped front pockets and black panelling to the back, gorgeous and also comes in a coral print.

If like me you are into flattering silhouettes, girlie touches with cascading ruffles and silk panels teamed with edgy detailing of exposed zips, pockets and cut-outs, which subtle peek through on the backs of the dress, then this is new clothing label for you.

Created by George Singleton, you really must check out the rest of the collection, with prices starting from £80 up to £315 for the key statement pieces, perfect if you have a wedding to attend this summer, or if you are after a casual-yet-chic piece for work, there is something for everyone.
