My Style: Pretty In Pink

My-style-next-lace-dress-6

A couple of weeks ago the lovely girlies at Next invited me and a few of their favourite bloggers to see The Bodyguard for a girl’s night out and I wore this beauty of a pink lace dress. I was having so much fun, munching at STK London, catching up with my friends and then singing along to Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, boy can Alexandra Burke sing, that I totally forgot to get an outfit post. A crime I know for a fashion blogger!!!

What I love about this beauty of a dress is that it can be dressed up or down and it still looks so pretty, I think it is because the silhouette is so flattering and the lace is delicate and fun. To see The Bodyguard, I dressed it up with a statement necklace, a cute clutch and strappy black heels, but I love that it works just as well teamed with pumps for a day wandering around Cambridge.

I think the reason this dress works for a Sunday walk after brunch is the accessories, a pop of blue just works perfectly with this pretty pale pink hue. I love that it adds a touch of fun, which means that the addition of the denim pumps don’t seem too casual. Plus I love any reason to wear my new blue mini Links of London friendship bracelet that Paulie got me for my birthday, it works perfectly with my Shore Projects watch.

Do you have a summer dress that you love to dress up and down?

My Style: Pretty Floral Skirt

My-style-floral-skirt-6

No matter how hot is out there, even the hottest day of the year so far, it seems that I still can’t help wearing black and chunky boots, it seems that my wardrobe and style is all about winter. Don’t get me wrong I have pretty dresses in summer hues, I get them out on occasions, it is just I prefer black. So my compromise, with myself to wear more summery clothes, is this adorable dark floral skirt.

I don’t have many floral prints in my wardrobe but this one appealed due to the darker vibe as well as the neon pink kick, plus it is in my favourite flattering skater skirt silhouette. I was going to pair this Primark beauty with a neon pink boyfriend T-shirt, but I just couldn’t find it, but my trusty black one was easy to find, I have like 10 of them!!!

But you know what, I think the print and bare legs make this look summery enough, I hope, but I do think a brighter or even white top would have made it pop even more in the sunshine. I think the extra sparkle of this gorgeous Next necklace and Citizen Eco-Drive watch helps though – they both really catch the light perfectly.

Are you a lover of wearing black even on the hottest of days?

My Style: Rocking Monochrome & Some Cute Flats

my-style-monochrome

I don’t think you can go into a high street store without seeing monochrome looks – it is everywhere for spring/summer and it is a trend that is going to continue into autumn, which is why when I saw this Jaeger dress in the sale I had to snap it up.

This beauty, I can see now is going to be my throw-on dress, it is causal and comfortable with its oversized silhouette, yet it can be smartened up with a belt to nip in the waist, and can easily make the seasonal change from summer to autumn with the addition of tights and boots.

As the dress can be a little plain, I find that what can make or break this look is how you accessories it, so with that in mind I decided to pair with my new ASOS flats, which are super cute with their double bows. In the pictures they look like there are white flats, but actually they are made from a silver hologram material, which shimmers in the sun and looks great with my pink pedicure that is still going strong.

I shot these piccies in the garden, which has been my office this summer, and I thought it would be nice to add a spot of colour to my black and white look with some of my new flowers that have bloomed, plus see if you can spot my very own baby panda…OK kitty…but she is in a tree and is very cute!!!

My Style: Autumnal Layering and Breton Stripes

I am a huge fan of autumn, mainly because it suits my layering style, and this week with the lingering fog and chill in the air my need for layers has become more apparent. We are in the midst of press day season, lots of time away from my computer, mentally making my spring/summer 2013 shopping list, as well as constantly being in and out of different venues – so this look was perfect.

I am a fan of parka coats and this one from Dorothy Perkins is one of my favs and has been in my wardrobe for around five years and still looks fresh each season. It isn’t the warmest of coats, so generally autumn is when I wear it, but I love the shape, the drawstrings and the pockets – plus khaki green really does work with most colours.

When I look at this outfit I realise how many capsule wardrobe pieces it contains, that wasn’t intentionally but does show that when you buy classic pieces such as black jeans, a long draping cardigan and a Breton striped top what you can come up with.

This Breton striped top from Crew Clothing is fast becoming one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe, I love that it is perfect for layering under a cardigan and it is comfortable to wear, which is ideal for a busy day.

Today, I also went to the OPI Nails spring preview, checked out all the fab colours coming and also got a pretty manicure – I am in love with the new Liquid Sand shades coming – I do love matt textured looks. I also think that my purple splash nails also goes well with my pink arm candy, especially my Chamilia bracelet that was designed in aid of Breast Cancer awareness month.

Finishing off my look are my new biker boots from Tribeca shoes a cool footwear emporium of the latest trends. What makes these boots my new favourites has to be the style – I love the studs, they are seriously comfortable, and every time I wear them I can’t believe they are only £35 – serious bargain!

Do you love autumnal layering? And are you a fan of Breton stripes?

My Style: Dorothy Perkins green parka (many, many seasons ago); New Look bird scarf; Crew Clothing Ginger Lily Tee(c/o); Warehouse jeans (c/o Westfield London); AllSaints cardigan (c/o); and Tribeca Shoes – Kimmi Black Studded Biker Boots (c/o); New Look bracelets; Chamila breast cancer bracelet and bead (c/o); Ice-Watch (c/o); NW3 plane necklace (c/o); and Karen Millen glasses (c/o Specsavers).
