Shopping: Fashion Week Inspiration at H&M

hm fashion weeks 2 Shopping: Fashion Week Inspiration at H&M %tag

It is three weeks to London Fashion Week, I say it every season but wow it really did come around quickly this time, and it means I have started my panic/preparation for my outfits. I always find it more pressure during fashion week, everyone seems to go a little crazier, a more exaggerated version of themselves, whereas I generally like to stick to black, black and a bit more black, unless of course I am in jeans!!!

So thank god for H&M’s new Fashion Weeks collection that is a monochromatic minimalism masterclass, while still offering that quirky fashion week edge. I basically want the whole collection, but I think these pieces have to be favourite, starting with this gorgeous simple black crepe cami dress – I love the clean lines, the fact it actually falls at the knee and the sporty mesh panel to the front, but most of I adore the price of £12.99. Also it works perfectly with the wide coat, another bargain at £39.99, just pair with classic black heels and this is one stylish and comfortable look.

The other look that is high on my shopping list has to be the oversized white blouse, £24.99, nipped in at the waist with that large wide belt, £24.99, teamed with very cool black jersey leggings, which for £14.99 they are a great price but I think I would need more model-like pins to pull them off, but I think the blouse and belt would work just as well with jeans.

Then we have the chunky knit, the long line blazer, the fake fur jacket, and the statement tee – basically this collection has everything you need to put together a great fashion week capsule wardrobe.

Whether you are planning for fashion week or not – would you wear this monochrome collection?

Boux Avenue: Revamping My Lingerie Wardrobe

boux avenue Boux Avenue: Revamping My Lingerie Wardrobe %tag

I regularly do a clear out of my wardrobe, rotate my winter and summer clothes, as well as donating those pieces that I just don’t like, never wear or frankly don’t fit me, one area that I don’t ever do a clear out of is my lingerie drawer and I have to be honest I am not sure why considering I wear underwear every single day.

I only considered that my lingerie wardrobe might need revamping when Boux Avenue invited me to come to their Westfield London store, check out the collections and take advantage of their free bra fitting service.

I know what you are thinking, ‘I know what bra size I am’, but really do you? I checked out my lingerie drawer and I have bras ranging from A to DD cup and I can tell you now I am never, ever going to fit back into that A cup no matter how pretty it is, but I have kept hold of it for more than 10 years. This bra has moved with me probably three or four times and I still can’t seem to part with it. I can’t be the only lingerie hoarder.

So I wasn’t totally off on my bra size, but just by wearing the right size I noticed instantly that my clothes looked better, I felt more comfortable and anything that makes you feel better can only be good for your confidence. So why is that women would prefer to wear the wrong size than get measured? I think we have all have our own reasons, embarrassment, busy schedule, unaware that most lingerie places offer the service for free, the list goes on.

Well let me tell you I have had a bra fitting with lots of different brands, some were hands on, some just looked and adjusted as I tried on, and Boux Avenue measure you while you are in your current bra before getting you to try on your favourite styles so you know for sure that it is the right size. My bra fitter told me that no matter whether you have a fitting or not, always try on the bra before you buy as dependant on the style, your size can change slightly, which is exactly what I found I am actually two sizes.

What I loved about Boux Avenue is the choice, they offer everything from basics to sexy lingerie sets, as well as a gorgeous bridal collection, sleepwear and swimwear, basically everything I would need to revamp my lingerie wardrobe. The selection was a little overwhelming but I decided to stick to key pieces I would need to kick-start my revamp.

First up I needed a nude and black T-shirt bra, I live in these and the Boux Avenue one is amazing on, then I went for a floral beauty, no lingerie drawer is complete without florals, a sexy bra set for those date nights, and I also went for a retro-inspired longline bra, I love the balconette style as well as the fact I can wear under a sheer shirt and it will look chic as hell. Plus as my honeymoon approaches I couldn’t resist picking up one of their bikinis, I can’t wait to wear it in Antigua.

I love all the pieces I picked up and can’t wait to wear them all. There is a certain satisfaction about a tidy lingerie drawer, getting rid of the clutter, and not having to worry about which bras actually fit me. An added bonus is that my drawer also smells amazing as Boux Avenue packaged up my beauties with a scent parcel, I do love the little touches.

So when was the last time you did a clear out of your lingerie wardrobe?

Shopping: 10 Summer Jackets

Summer cover up 3 Shopping: 10 Summer Jackets %tag

I totally understand winter dressing, I love to layer up, feel all cosy and generally be as warm as possible, when it comes to the summer months I really struggle as I either have beach climate outfits or winter warmers, It seems I have nothing in between. Which is kind of a problem for this variable weather we have been having – one minute boiling hot – the next second a little on the chilly side, which is where these amazing summer jackets come in.

The most important thing with a summer jacket other than the fit, I sometimes go down a size as I don’t have as many layers on underneath, has to be versatility, it has to go with a lot of summer looks and different occasions, as lets face it you aren’t going to buy more than say one or two for the season.

My summer jacket normally revolves around lightweight parkas or a denim jacket, but I was after something a little smarter that wouldn’t look out-of-place with a casual look and that’s when I spotted this soft quilted cropped jacket from Warehouse, which FYI is now in the sale.

It really is perfection, it is light, it is a great colour, goes with jeans, skirts, dresses, and works dressed up and paired down. Plus it has the all important three-quarter sleeve, for some reason I think that makes a summer jacket as you can show off your arm candy!!!

So the quilted Warehouse beauty might be my favourite and my current go-to summer cover-up but I done a little shopping for the top 10 summer jackets out there at the moment. So whether you after something to wear to a festival, team with a gorgeous dress to an outdoor wedding, or wear to a Sunday brunch with friends – I have found something for everyone.

OK so how hot is Jennifer Lopez looking at the moment, I am seriously obsessed with how good her body is, don’t get me wrong she has always looked amazing but right now she is insanely hot.

Her instagram has become a daily pleasure for me, I love that she shares behind-the-scenes shots of her tour, gets her fans to vote on her outfits and even post no make-up selfies of herself. I have to be honest but move over Beyonce, J-Lo is taking your reign as my Instagram queen!!!

One of Jennifer’s Instagram’s that caught my eye this week was this stunning piccie of the singer, showing off her great pins and fabulous hair, and the cutest jumper ever that I instantly recognised as Markus Lupfer, basically the only designer you want to buy if you are after a statement sweater.

The cotton pink sequinned Markus Lupfer ‘Love Myself’ sweater is perfection and I have found it on FarFetch so you too can look like J-Lo, I just wish buying it also meant her glamsquad came and styled me up as she looks flawless in this picture.

Love J-Lo’s sweater – check out 10 of my favourite Markus Lupfer sweaters right now:

Cute Alert: Asos x Minnie Mouse Ears

asosdisney Cute Alert: Asos x Minnie Mouse Ears %tag

I have made no secret of being a lover of cute, whether that’s an adorable piece of jewellery made even cutier by my favourite doll Barbie, or a statement sweater of a basically any animal alive and now I have to add Minnie Mouse ears to my ever-growing wish list.

These beauties are part of Asos’ exclusive collaboration with Disney and I can’t quite decide which pair of Minnie Mouse ears are my favourite. Of course Minnie’s timeless and signature polka dots are high on my list, but I can’t help but be seduced by the fun leopard print ones, the pom pom beauties and the festival-ready floral ‘blossom’ bow. All I know is that each pair is so cute I want them all!!!

Prices start at £10 for the classic red and white spot ears and bow Aliceband, which I have to be honest as Minnie’s signature style these might just be my favourites, but I do adore the quirkiness of the pom poms for £12 and the leopard print sequinned embellished headband for £15.

Which ears do you want to rock this summer?

Buy It: ‘I’m Kind Of A Big Deal On My Blog’ T-Shirt

Next blog t shirt Buy It: Im Kind Of A Big Deal On My Blog T Shirt %tag

Yesterday I went shopping with The Apartment at Next, they kindly let me snag a few goodies for London Fashion Week, and I stumbled across this beauty of a t-shirt.

There have been a lot of blog related slogan t-shirts done in the past, do you remember Man Repeller wearing American Apparel’s ‘All Blogs Post The Same Stuff’? Well I think I have found the beauty of a t-shirt that every blogger needs to wear this London Fashion Week from Next - ‘I’m Kind Of A Big Deal On My Blog’ – and the best bit it is only £16, yep it is a bargain.

Not only a bargain it is super fun and comes in two colours – navy or ecru, and trust me you will be surprised with how great it feels and I just love the mirrored foil print detailing.

This isn’t the only great slogan t-shirt that Next has to offer fashionistas looking for a cute addition to their LFW wardrobe – I also love their sequinned ‘Fashion’ tee with chiffon panels and the camouflaged ‘Hey’ grey T-shirt.

Wardrobe Essentials: Iris & Ink SS14 Collection

IRIS INK SS14 Wardrobe Essentials: Iris & Ink SS14 Collection %tag

I am a lover of high quality basics, they fill in the gaps of any woman’s wardrobe, and The Outnet’s in-house label, Iris & Ink is one of favourites to pick up a great jumper, shirt and leather skirt. It is basically a line filled with wardrobe essentials and for spring/summer 2014 the collection has exploded and is its biggest ever, which is good news for every woman out there.

Everything in the collection is an investment piece from the leather staples such as the pleated skirt to the fashion-forward items like the suede shirt dress that will jazz up anyone’s day, to the essential cashmere jumpers that literally come in every shade of the rainbow to the beautifully tailored trousers and shirts. I am crushing over the whole collection.

The prices are around the high-end high street end, think Whistles, Reiss and Karen Millen, but there are some bargains to be had in the collection as well – I think the straight-leg pants with black piping for £95 is a great addition to any wardrobe, as is the leopard print sweater for £110, and the semi-sheer washed-silk shirt for £98 can be dressed up or down.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a wardrobe filled with gorgeous cashmere sweaters, white shirts, leather skirts and stripy tops.
