Window Loving: Shoe Carnival At Selfridges

selfridges shoe carnival 6 Window Loving: Shoe Carnival At Selfridges %tag

Fairground season has come early at Selfridges as the London department store has transformed its windows into a fun carnival scene featuring some of the amazing shoes it has to offer in its huge footwear department.

From a high-heel clad Ferris wheel to a revolving hi-top helter skelter, and even trainers ride the dodgems – the windows are completely genius and fun. I love the perspex heeled boots on the high striker and the kissing wedges in the kissing booth!!!

Beauty: Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Fragrance

Pink Friday nicki minaj 8 Beauty: Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Fragrance %tag

On Friday I attended the launch of Nicki Minaj’s first fragrance, Pink Friday at Selfridges, which comes in a OTT bottle, a statuesque-Barbie version of the diva singer with a touch of the classic Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance bottles, and with the deluxe 100ml size the bottle also comes with a Nicki Minaj necklace.

Like the star herself, I think there will be a lot of people loving this bottle and some will find it a little creepy, I think it is the gold head with pink lips that does it – I love it though especially as you have to pull her head off to spray on the fragrance!!!

As for the fragrance itself, I have to be honest I was really impressed with it, celebrity scents can be a little hit or miss, but I actually liked the extremely sweet and fruity smell, which reminded me a little of Juicy Couture’s scent,  Viva la Juicy, with its top notes of Starfruit and Mandarin, mixed in with lotus and jasmine floral notes with vanilla and musks.

The fragrance is exclusive to Selfridges until April, and Minaj fans or Barbz as they are more affectionately known can also pick up a limited edition handmade couture design to dress up the 100ml bottle – there is ‘Duchess Pink’, complete with an ice cream cone on her hat, ‘Whip It Like Minaj’, a bondage leather look, as well as ‘Starships Minaj’ that features a hooded designed with a jewelled necklace, and a secret look called ‘British Pink’, which I had a sneek preview at and it looked very bling!!!

The scent is available in three sizes, 30ml – £24; 50ml – £30; and 100ml – £39. There is also a sparkling body lotion, £15, and a hair mist, £12.50.

What do you think of Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday fragrance?

Window Loving: Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama Take Over Selfridges

SelfridgesLV14 Window Loving: Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama Take Over Selfridges %tag

I love it when fashion and art collides, more so when the takeover is so intense, and you can’t get any more all-consuming than Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama bringing their monograms and dotty approach to life across 24 windows at Selfridges.

I knew it was coming but I still wasn’t prepared for the wow factor of seeing Louis Vuitton’s highly anticipated exclusive Kusama collection takeover Selfridges’ large windows on Oxford Street. If you haven’t been by to see, do, it is stunning, and take it from me walk from the Orchard Street end of Selfridges as you will be able to follow Kusama’s ‘Love Forever’ poem, which has inspired the display, in both English and Japanese.

If you aren’t familiar with the poem here it is, as well as a few snaps I took on my HTC One X of the windows – I truly wished I lived in a permanent polka dot world!!!

Stars, the earth, I and you: we are but one polka dot

To a shining future

Budding love

All about my great happiness

Fashionably dressed up

Let’s go and see out boyfriends in high heels

I, in high heels

Love Forever

Weekend Fun: Why Not Play Mini Golf On Selfridges Roof

Selfridges4 Weekend Fun: Why Not Play Mini Golf On Selfridges Roof %tag

Do you remember the boat lake on the roof at Selfridges last summers? Well, this year they’ve outdone themselves by creating a crazy golf course, yep on the rooftop of Selfridges on Oxford Street London there is a 9-hole golf course.

Granted it isn’t a huge space, but you have to go just to check out the cake-shaped London landmarks, seriously you won’t have seen the Tower of London look so delicious before!!!

What I love as well as the fun, the view and the gorgeous cafe, which means you can have the highest afternoon tea on Oxford Circus, is that this isn’t the first time Selfridges have had crazy golf on their roof. Apparently, in the 1920s crowds would ascend on the top of the building to meet with friends, watch fashion shows and even play a round of crazy golf, seriously who knew, such a shame that the Blitz in 1940 destroyed the roof gardens.

The Big Rooftop Tea & Golf Party runs through the summer until September 2, visit Selfirdges to secure your ticket, because of the size spaces are limited.

Marc Mouse1 Opens Today: Marc by Marc Jacobs Mouse Pop Up %tag

Love quirky, love Marc by Marc Jacobs, love shoes? Well Selfridges London is being taken over by Marc by Marc Jacobs iconic ‘Mouse’ ballerina shoe from today in the Second Floor Shoe Galleries. The pop-up will be open until May 5, and will feature 15 different versions of the ‘Mouse’ flats, from yellow patent to studded black, to white perforated and even jelly ballet flats, and many are exclusive to Selfridges.

To celebrate the pop-up Will Broome, the British artist behind the fab ‘Miss Marc’ illustration will be illustrating the space with his drawings, and he will also be live illustrating from the shop on April 28 and 29 from 3-6pm.

I am loving the studded pale pink ones – how adorable, now I just need to find £250!!!

Fab Details: Gorgeous DKNY Garment Tags For The UK

DKNY5 450x1024 Fab Details: Gorgeous DKNY Garment Tags For The UK %tag

I am a sucker for the details, whether it is a gorgeous print on the dress, the intricate embroidery on the collar, or in the case of DKNY the chic illustrations that will hang on each garment and accessory in UK department stores to identify its Limited Edition pieces.

I am assuming that these illustrations are from the fab Dallas Shaw who does a lot of work with DKNY especially her Twitter avatars,  as they just oozes the glamour and elegance of the brand. These beauties are frameable art in my opinion, oh and they are not helping with my dreams to be a fashion illustrator, if only I had these skills my blog would be extra pretty!!!

Selfridges and Harrods even have their own exclusive garment tags above, which are my two favourites – as well as the one below – that clutch is cute!!!

Pop-Up: Dirty Pretty Things in Selfridges

This week I went along to the launch of premium lingerie label Dirty Pretty Things’s pop-up shop in Selfridges, bringing its rock-n-roll vibe of fancy pants to the department store, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The  very cool brand designed by Dee Murren and Claire Merry is marking its third anniversary with a collaborating with their old friend jeweller Stephen Webster on a limited-edition set, exclusive to the department store. They’ve taken their best-selling ‘Eloise’ style and reworked with Webster’s ‘Envy’ pendant from his ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ collection – check it out below worn by the very intimidating but uber-gorgeous model below.

I love how the pop-up was laid out, with the brand’s signature leopard print, neon hues, and quirky prints mixed in with blossom trees and I loved everything in the collection. My favourite line had to be the Dawn bird print below, how cute does that print work against the pop of neon pink – LOVE – I am hoping my Valentine will pick me up this gorgeous babydoll.
