Who: Tilda Swinton
Where: At the opening ceremony of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival for her new movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Wearing: A black wool tuxedo, paired with white silk chiffon ruffles and a white matte silk charmeuse man’s shirt all from the Schiaparelli Haute Couture spring 2014 collection, teamed with a striking gold cocktail ring and the Schiaparelli feathered sandal flip flops as seen on the runway.
Verdict: I love, love, love Tilda Swinton, not only is she a woman who totally knows how to work a suit, but I adore how she really does beat to her own drum by wearing the most amazing and daring fashion on the red carpet.
What I love the most about this look is how she really compliments the mannish tailoring with her slouchy posture and those regal ruffles on the blouse – it makes it chic, sophisticated, and edgy all at the same time – everything you expect from Tilda.
As well as being a fan of her masculine red carpet look, I love how she softens the impact with the styling of the striking cocktail ring and her fun barrel-curl hair-do and bright red lippy and nails, it really works to tie in the whole look.
The only thing I am not so sure about has to be those feathered flip-flops, I get that they were part of the runway look, but other than the fact her feet must have been freezing – it is winter in Berlin, the quirky footwear doesn’t add anything to this look for me. But on the other-hand I so appreciate that they are so Tilda, come on only she could pull of these sandals.
What are your thoughts on this quirky and daring red carpet look?
