Grammy Awards 2015: My Best Dressed List

Grammys-rihannaThe Grammy Awards are notorious for being a bit of a hit-and-miss red carpet, mainly because singers it seems like sheer, cut-outs, and generally plunging, anything for a little attention. For most it doesn’t work, it is generally so bad you have to laugh, but as I don’t like to focus on the negative, lets rejoice in the fact that there were a handful of beauties that pulled off amazing looks. Here are my best dressed ladies from the 2015 Grammy Awards:

Rihanna in Giambattista Valli

Rihanna was the last to arrive and oh boy was it worth the wait. The singer literally glided down the red carpet in this dreamy statement pink tulle Giambattista Valli haute couture gown, worn straight off the Paris runway, teamed with over 50 carats of Chopard diamonds.

First of all, the cotton-candy colour is divine, secondly, there is no such thing as too big when it comes to Rihanna, thank god for that, and thirdly, I love that she saw it on the internet and had to have it! There is only one thing, even though I love this look on Rihanna, part of me is a little sad that this beauty won’t now get a Cannes outing, which is kind of where I thought it might be showcased.

As well as loving the dress, I do love a girlie Rihanna, I adore the fact she went for a feminine, natural beauty look, the ballet bun goes perfectly with this ruffled ball gown.

Love, love, love.

Gwen Stefani in Atelier Versace

Before Gwen Stefani hit the red carpet I was despairing a little that I wouldn’t like any looks, I should have known that the No Doubt singer would bring her A-game. This black Atelier Versace jumpsuit is incredible and I quite agree with Gwen that it does look like an “artwork” with that asymmetrical, structured, sequinned bodice.

Adding her own personal stamp on the jumpsuit, I love that Gwen decided to tailor the trousers for a skinnier feel than the wide-legged version that went down the runway in Paris a few weeks ago. As well as loving the outfit I have to praise her flawless hair and make-up, I think she had the best beauty look of the night.

grammys-nicole-kidmanNicole Kidman in Mugler

Rocking a little black dress to the Grammys might seem a little boring, but put it on Nicole Kidman and it is pure elegance, and the perfect plus 1 attire. Normally I wouldn’t go for body-con dresses in my best dressed, but there is something about this Mugler LBD that I adore, maybe it is the fact that Nicole is working it, or the exquisite metal eyelets detailing throughout that added a rock-n-roll edge, I just really loved the fact it was sophisticated, fun and sexy all at the same time, without being too much. Also just for her amazing pins she had to make the list – simply stunning.

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab

One thing you are guaranteed with Taylor Swift is that she always has fun on the red carpet and she looked incredible in this custom teal ombre Elie Saab gown, teamed with purple Giuseppe Zanotti heels and emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings. Normally I am not a fan of the mullet-dress, but the jewelled colour just popped beautifully, and her legs really do deserve to be shown off.

grammys-iggyIggy Azalea In Giorgio Armani

Rounding off my Grammys best dressed list has to be Iggy Azalea as she surprise the hell out of me, I don’t think I have ever seen her look this good before. Her custom electric blue Giorgio Armani silk-crepe gown was divine, tailored to perfection, and I really loved the subtle cut-out detailing on the sides, shoulders and towards the bottom of the gown at the front. This was sexy without trying too hard – her body really does look incredible in this gown. The only thing that lets this look down for me has to be the hair, why the crazy crown of braids, if she had gone for a sleek ponytail or bun I would have adore it, as everything else including her flawless make-up was perfection.

Cover Loving: Rihanna For Glamour US

Wow, now this is a whole different side of Rihanna. Gracing the November issue of Glamour US, Rihanna looks gorgeous and girlie showing off her curly cropped hair and striking eyes. Normally the singer is all about sex appeal, but what I love about this cover is how girlie she looks, with a touch of RiRi attitude of course!!!

Wearing a Dior bodysuit, Kenneth Jay Lane hoop earrings and a Lynn Ban cuff, this is one gorgeous cover, but what draws you in though has to be her make-up, from her dramatic eyes to the soft lip colour.

Made-up using products from her own Mac collection, I love the bronze and gold metallic eye shadow and strong eyeliner – it really does make her green eyes pop. With her eyes looking so incredible it looks like the rest of her face is make-up less. Simply gorgeous.

For me this is one captivating cover – are you a fan of RiRi’s latest editorial?

Behind-The-Scenes: Rihanna For River Island

A lot of people are excited to see Rihanna’s debut fashion collection, including me, and a lot of people have questioned her slot at London Fashion Week, but whether you agree with high street names showing at fashion week or not the anticipation for her line is incredible and this video just builds up the tension.

Rihanna sits alongside her costume designer and co-designer on the line Adam Shulman and chats about her excitement about dressing “young, sassy personalities”, to her love for River Island and British street style, as well as what we can expect from the collection, which she describes as “casual, chic, and flirty”.

I have to be honest I was excited before, but hearing her speak about the collection, seeing glimpses of swatches and sketches I really can’t wait for her LFW presentation.

Are you looking forward to shopping the Rihanna for River Island collection?

Holiday Style: Rihanna In Roberto Cavalli

Who: Rihanna

Where: On holiday in Positano, on the Amalfi Coast of Italy

Wearing: A white and red graphic shell printed silk Roberto Cavalli ensemble, consisting of a scarf halter and matching wide-leg trousers, teamed with a gold arm cuff and white Prada platform sandals

Verdict: I am loving this bold and sexy look from Rihanna while on holiday in Italy. Everything from the gorgeous shell print to the relaxed wide-leg style of the trousers, which you don’t really see Rihanna in to the sexy scarf halter top. I am also loving those retro-inspired Prada platforms in her hands. Also I think a special mention has to go to her hair – I don’t think I have seen it look so good.

If you follow RiRi on Instagram you will have seen that she is certainly having a good time – showing off her amazing body in a number of different bikinis, sharing her new Prada bag, as well as her love of leopard print!!!

Here’s hoping that her relaxed holiday style will be making an appearance in her up-coming collection for River Island which was announced this week. The capsule line, which marks Rihanna’s first foray into fashion design will launch for Spring 2013 – no word on what it will consist of other than it will be inspired by her style. I am expecting – lots of leopard print, ripped jeans, tiny shorts, plenty of bling and of course everything being delivered with a sassy attitude.

Here is what Rihanna had to say about it:

“I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”

Are you a fan of Rihanna’s holiday style, and are you looking forward to her style hitting River Island next year?

Battleship: Rihanna In Stella McCartney

Who: Rihanna

Where: At the Australian ‘Battleship’ premiere in Sydney

Wearing: A black stretch all-in-one Stella McCartney jumpsuit from the pre-fall 2012 collection, teamed with black sandals

Verdict: I love this jumpsuit, it has an elegant tuxedo feel about it, while still having the sexy sophistication that you expect from Stella McCartney, and I have to admit something I wouldn’t have thought Rihanna would wear to a premiere.

Even though I like this sleek look, I think her hot red lips and her RiRi attitude helps, I would have loved to have seen her work this all-black number with a pop of colour, maybe a neon pink clutch or vibrant sandals, but I am think a chic and simple vibe was more what she was after and it totally worked.

What do you think do you love Rihanna’s latest Stella McCartney look?

Shop Her Style: Rihanna Wears River Island

Wow, Rihanna really is becoming a Twitter monster, and I am loving it – especially when she tweets her fab piccies of herself and I just had to share this one from yesterday as she is sporting a £20 tee from River Island. Yep, you read that right, Rihanna is wearing high street!!!

The lovely RiRi is beginning to become River Island’s super fan, Topshop may have Beyonce who spent a fortune when she visited last year, but I think Rihanna and River Island is a great mix, and maybe it is because the retailer has a collection of tees with her face on them??? But word of warning I am sure that this grey Rolling Stones print tank top is going to sell out, so if you like snap up quickly!!!

I have to be honest I have no clue what the poses are all about, but other than the tee I am loving her red animal print jeans, as well as her return to her dark brown locks, which looks so much better than her blonde hair with dark roots.

Buy Her Style: Pick up Rihanna’s t-shirt online at River Island for £20.

Will you be buying?

Grammys 2012: My Best Dressed – Rihanna and Katy

After being utterly bored by the BAFTA red carpet I wasn’t really in the mood to stay up and watch the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, I did however catch-up this morning and I have to be honest there were a lot of hits and twice as many misses – but this is kind of what I expected from the Grammys.

For me the best dressed has to go to either Rihanna’s show stopping black silk cady custom Giorgio Armani gown or Katy Perry’s sky blue Elie Saab gown from the spring/summer haute couture 2012 collection. If it came down to just the dresses I think Katy would win, but her Smurfette hair is really putting me off, but then again I am not that thrilled by Rihanna’s roots either.

What I love about Rihanna’s look, which she co-designed with Armani is that it fitted her body perfectly, everything about this dress is sexy from the plunging neckline to the thigh-high split, to the dramatic open back and the mermaid silhouette into an elegant train – taking inspiration from Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface obviously works for RiRi as this is one great red carpet look.

On the other hand there is Katy Perry looking elegant in this exquisite fully-embroidered backless floral Elie Saab creation. Everything is divine from the colour to the simple ribbon belt, to the gorgeous floral appliqués, and I do love it when Katy does princess rather than quirky. If only her hair was elegant this would have be a clear winner for me.

A special mention has to go to both Fergie in this vibrant orange lace Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown from the spring/summer 2012 collection, hot off the Paris catwalk and Gwyneth Paltrow in a black cut-out Stella McCartney dress with gold belt from Stella’s Evening Collection for both looking absolutely incredible – seriously crazy hot bodies.

I know everyone isn’t going to love Fergie’s bold catwalk-to-red carpet look complete with black bra and big pants but I love that she totally went for it – and come on you all have to admit she is totally working this dress.
