During London Fashion Week one of the most talked about presentations had to be Sophia Webster’s secret garden in the middle of Regent’s Park for her spring/summer 2014 collection entitled, Supa Dupa Fly. I sadly missed it, and was uber jealous of everyone that attended as I love Sophia’s quirky accessories – from the incredible crafted heels to her speech bubble clutches.
If you love bold and striking fashion then you are going to love River Island’s autumn/winter 2013 collection that is starting to roll out across stores.
I’ve already given you a sneak peek of the collection, from my behind-the-scenes at their lookbook shoot post, but as I have spotted a few of the pieces in store and online I thought it best to share my favourite pieces from such a strong collection.
Known for not being afraid to have fun with fashion, the AW13 range is jam-packed full of trends, everything from monochrome, yep black and white pieces aren’t going anywhere to teen spirit, think 90s grunge with tartan, dark florals and cropped knits.
One of my favourite trends has to be Supernova, with its runway-inspired glam looks that are party ready and little bit Balmain with its mix of patchwork sequins, textures and prints. The one piece I think everyone will want is this cute sequinned mini – how hot is that. Dress it up for a full on glam look or why not just pair with a white tee and a blazer.
There were lots of pieces that caught my attention from the striking cobalt blue tote, this was love at first sight, perfect fashion week size, to the neon crystal embroidered dress to the tapestry-inspired pieces, especially this dress with a jewelled necklace attached, to the gorgeous statement coats, I know pink is everywhere fancy something different why not try out this orange one, and I think I need to update my biker boots with these chained beauties.
Of course I couldn’t share autumn/winter looks without a look at the coats – I am really drawn to the oversized mannish checked one.
Then we have the accessories, a section that keeps on getting stronger for River Island, this season there are lot of party-ready heels for the Christmas season, cute satchels, statement jewels, kinky boots and a selection of fun baseball caps and beanies.
What do you think of River Island’s autumn/winter 2013 collection? Any pieces heading to your shopping list?

One of the brands that surprised me during the autumn/winter 2013 press days had to be Hobbs, I’ve heard such good things from the retailer from my friends, but I have to be honest I don’t regularly shop there.
For AW13 the offering is really strong and directional – with incredible bold tailored coordinated pieces, gorgeous oversized, mannish coats, and super flattering full skirts and items with delicate detailing on such as cut-work lace and scalloped edged collars.
There is an elegance about the new collection, that you would expect from Hobbs, but also a more fashion-forward feel – it really has stepped up for autumn/winter to rival Jaeger for contemporary womenswear with an edge.
One of the highlights of the collection for me has to be the gorgeous ‘Persephone’ tapestry-inspired silk printed matching pieces, the green print really made an impact at the preview, and the model look incredible wearing the trousers, shirt, coat and bag together. For everyday life maybe this look is a tad too bold, but I think the trousers and coat could totally work together with a more neutral top.
There were a lot of other pieces that stood out from the oversized mannish windowpane checked coat to the dress worn over a shirt and trousers, and the gorgeous feminine details of the Hobbs N.W.3 collection.
But what really caught my eye was the strength of its accessories collection, especially its Italian-made footwear from cute brogues from the traditional to the heeled to the boot variety, leopard-print ankle boots and wear all-day long stacked court shoes. This really is a great place to look for new classic shoes this season.

The collection has already started to drop online and in store – to help you get started on your autumn wardrobe I have picked out some of my favourite pieces below:
I know that the autumn/winter 2013 fashion week’s seem a long time ago, and talking about wintry clothing while the sun is shining does feel like I am jinxing the rest of the summer, but the autumn collections are starting to roll out on the high street so I thought it was about time I shared some of my favourite press days.
First up we have H&M’s autumn collection, the one that split opinions when it was shown as part of Paris Fashion Week in February, but seeing the curated line up close has made me a fan of this mainly black, flirty Boho chic collection. I think that even though most of the pieces are priced more than the normal H&M items, for instance the gorgeous wool skirt below is around the £150 mark, I still think this collection will fly off the shelves.
There were lots of highlights from the heavy laser-cut wool skirt with an autumnal leaf embroidery design, to gorgeous beaded dresses, fluffy jumpers, thigh-high boots, Baker Boy caps and incredible vintage-inspired accessories.
Granted the collection might be for everyone, I am a fan of the Boho elements, but they aren’t really my style, and I love the flirty beaded dresses, but where would I wear them, but there are pieces that I will certainly be looking for come September including this statement necklace, the jewellery clasp shoes, and the sleeveless coat. I think once you see the collection in person you will be pleasantly surprised not only by the pieces but the quality of the items.
This sleeveless tailored coat really reminds me of the one that Victoria Beckham was sporting from her own autumn/winter 2013 collection. The only question I have – how and when will I wear this? I was thinking it would look cool layered over straight trousers, and a cute cropped chunky jumper – I just think for this look to work the jacket has to be long and has to be worn open.
