One Hot Pig: Miss Piggy Is Hot To Trot

I have never really been a Muppets fan, well except of the exquisite style of one Miss Piggy, and I am loving that InStyle US are celebrating her first on-screen appearance in 12 years with an eight-page spread.

Hitting newsstands on Friday, the November issue Miss Piggy editorial is filled with custom-made designs by the likes of Prabal Gurung (pictured above), Jason Wu (below), Brian Atwoood, Suno, Opening Ceremony, and Giles & Brother. I love the white Prabal Gurung design as it is a classic, and the signature Jason Wu feathers, but the one there I am most excited about seeing has to be Suno, I am expected a vibrant print dress.

What I found really funny when looking at WWD’s coverage of this editorial is that they called Miss Piggy a ‘plus size’ how crazy is that – she is a muppet for god sake!!

Also keep your eyes peeled to InStyle’s Facebook page as they are releasing a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot on there later in the week.

I so can’t wait to pick up my copy.

The movie which hits screens in November sees Miss Piggy playing a Paris Vogue fashion editor, and designers including Zac Posen and Christian Louboutin have made her costumes. Is that enough of a reason for me to go see it?? Sadly, it probably is!!!

Also I am super excited about the make-up movie tie-ins as well coming in November: the Miss Piggy for MAC make-up collection, which will only be available online, features eye shadow in Miss Piggy Pink, black eyeliner, and faux lashes; and then OPI have created 12 limited edition nail shades, six shimmery reds and neutrals, plus six glittery shades, sadly though only three of them are named after Miss Piggy – they are the best ones though!! My favourite being Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It! a flamboyant glittery red – a pure diva colour!!

Tiffany Dinner: Diane Kruger Stunning In Prabal Gurung

Who: Diane Kruger

Where: At a Tiffany & Co. dinner celebrating Frank Gehry’s collaboration

Wearing: A Prabal Gurung embroidered tulle chemise with silver and gold hand painted sheet metal sequins and feathers from the autumn/winter 2011 collection; teamed with two-toned sandals and a metallic Ferragamo clutch.

Verdict: I can’t lie I am a huge fan of Diane Kruger, I just feel that she oozes style and for me always seems to get it just right without playing it safe all the time. I said when I saw Prabal’s spring/summer 2011 collection that I could see Diane wearing his pieces, and I am so glad that she went for this gorgeous hand-painted metallic gown.

I love how this dress has a sultry feel to it with its shimmering embroidery, but still demure with its three-quarter sleeves and the cut of the dress falling just below-the-knee. This dress really is perfection and works perfectly with her skin tone and I am so glad that she kept her hair down, especially as I think with a dress with this much detailing there is a pressure to pull the hair back, but I really like that she has added her own style to such an amazing dress.

Video Loving: Prabal Gurung – Resort 2012

I do like it when fashion designers do something new, whether it is a collaboration, or switching it up and adding menswear, I don’t know about you but it keeps it interesting. Well I was thrilled to see that for Prabal Gurung’s debut Resort collection he decided to team up with dance-rap artist Rye Rye, no I haven’t heard of her either, but the song is called New Thing so it is aptly named!!!

“I have always followed the multitude of fashion films created by other design houses and loved seeing all the different interpretations of the collections,” says Prabal. “But the idea behind this was to bring other creative minds to the table and inspire our customers as well as the YouTube generation.”

I just love it, normally designers hit the runway to showcase their latest collections but for the Resort lines it normally just gets Editor previews and goes slightly under the radar, so I am so glad that this video directed by Kenneth Cappello brings the fashion alive.

There are 21 looks in the collection, spy them all here, there are lots of bold colours including Barbie pink, yellow and green, which work perfectly against the black and white graphic prints, as well as the flashes of florals, laser-cut polka dots, sequins, and ribbon embroidery. I just adore the statement cocktail dresses and ball gowns – absolutely gorgeous.

I really want to see this dress on the red carpet, please super stylists to the stars put this beauty in front of your clients!!

Who: Actress Zoe Saldana

Where: At the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar party in West Hollywood, California

Wearing: A red and pink chiffon pleated Prabal Gurung dress from the autumn/winter 2011 collection, teamed with metallic fuchsia heels

Verdict: I am so pleased that someone wore one of the dresses from this amazing Prabal Gurung collection, and I so pleased that it was Zoe as she looks amazing in this dress.

I love the clashing colours, the ruffles, and most of that cute gold clutch with tassel, also how hot does her red lippy look. Seriously sexy look. I love it.

NYFW SS11: Prabal Gurung Wants To Dress Intelligent Girls

Prabal Gurung showed his spring/summer 2011 collection in New York today displaying his ability to create the perfect evening gown and showing why so many celebrities love to wear his dresses. This season’s inspiration came with the concept of wanting to dress smart, intelligent girls – and with this came gorgeous dresses just below the knee and elegant necklines.

Once again we saw colour block, geometry shapes and textures gracing the runway. But the pieces that stood out had to be the floor-skimming dresses that I can imagine many a celebrity is asking their stylist to secure for their next red carpet as they were exquisite.

I could really see Diane Kruger wearing this dress to an award ceremony – she would look gorgeous in this.

One of my favourite dresses had to be this one with a pink flower splatter print on it.

But for me the aqua and red collection of dresses were the most wearable of the line. Three quarter sleeves, high neck and calf-length. Elegant and ladylike while still be cool and sexy.

But as with all Prabal’s collections it is the architectural structuring detailing that he delivers in his designs that makes him stand-out from the crowd, displaying his signature pleats, folds and drapes throughout.

The detailing on this front panel is amazing, and the added thigh-slit makes this a sexy, red carpet ready gown.

Overall this collection was pretty, with a lovely injection of colour, refined elegance and most certainly had red carpet appeal to it.
