Lookbook Love: Christian Louboutin Goes Fishing

We’ve seen Christian Louboutin heels as works of art, gracing the red carpet, and now the famous red soles have been depicted in fishing scenes for the brand’s spring/summer 2013 lookbook shot by Peter Lippmann.

What I love other than the fact it the imagery is eye-catching and makes you double-take, has to be the way the shoes and jewelled clutch really do pop against the haunted-yet-beautiful scenery of the river.

Who would have though that luxury shoes would look incredible displayed as fishing bait?

Louboutin Loving: When Art Meets Fashion

I think a lot of Christian Louboutin fans will admit that they see their heels as pieces of art, well for the autumn/winter 2011 lookbook Peter Lippmann has reinvented iconic portrait masterpieces to highlight just that. This isn’t the first time that Peter Lippmann has used art work for Christian Louboutin, they did it for AW09, but it doesn’t make it any less spectacular.
My favourite has to be the photograph above based on Francois Clouet’s 16th century portrait of Elizabeth of Austria, with added sparkle as she has a Christian Louboutin Catalina sequinned clutch bag, £795, and a golden spiked Pigalilli platform, £2,295, resting on her lap. They work so perfectly, a regal touch for a celebrity-loved heel.
Other amazing famous art masterpieces given a shoe update include, Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist’s Mother, by James McNeill Whistler, where instead of clutching a handkerchief, Whistler’s mother can be seen holding the gorgeous Tootsie booty, £1,895.
In another classic, Francisco de Zurbaran’s Santa Dorotea features the new 8 Mignon purple strappy heels, £765, as part of the fruit platter, the colours are divine.
The most surprising portrait, but one of the most divine, has to be Marie-Guillemine Benoist’s Portrait d’une Negresse holding a Balda Booty, £695. I can see this white leather ankle boot being a favourite of many celebrities.
For me though, all the drama of Jean-Marc Nattier’s Marquise de Pompadour portrait, is one of the best shots. I just love how the leopard print shoulder bag is nestled under her arm. Great styling!!!
I just felt that these snaps were so stunning that they needed sharing, I even think they would make a great exhibition, just think ad campaigns, lookbook images, and a selection of his most iconic heels, come on V&A make it happen!!!
