Campaign Loving: Zara Goes To P.E. Class

TRF_03_1920

I don’t often feature lookbooks on Fashionista Barbie, but I do love a great campaign, and I have to be honest I think of this autumn/winter 2014 shoot from Zara TRF more of an ad campaign than a lookbook **that’s my spin to include, and I am sticking with it**.

As soon as I saw these back-to-school inspired shots captured by Patrick Demarchelier I got all nostalgic, it got me thinking of all that new stationery, the excitement of seeing your friends after a long summer break, and those new trainers that you just have to persuade your mum to buy you for P.E. class.

As well as loving the setting, check out those sky blue lockers – very chic, I absolutely adore the collection – plaid skirts, stripy tops, Mary-Jane flats, cool plimsolls, and is that flared denim I see. Come on these clothes are dreamy, now if only my body would transform back to those school days!!!

Editorial Loving: Nicole Kidman For Vogue Germany

Vogue-Nicole-Kidman-1I know that everyone has already moved on to the September issues but I have only just picked up the August cover of Vogue Germany, which was an homage to Nicole Kidman. The Australian actress didn’t just get two gorgeous covers, but also three incredible editorials inside that really shows off her model potential and various personalities.

We have the whimsical editorial shot by Camilla Akrans that shows Nicole wearing Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry Prorsum, Louis Vuitton and Valentino in a gorgeous outdoor setting. I just love how Camilla has shot this editorial, the soft lighting and the fuzziness to the images makes it romantic and magical and Nicole looks absolutely gorgeous styled by Nicole Knels and I love the loose curls in her hair.

Then we have the high-fashion editorial shot by Patrick Demarchelier, this is a powerful spread that unleashes Nicole’s inner femme fatale and I love that the majority of the editorial is in black and white as it really suits the dramatic pieces by Rodarte, Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander McQueen, Prada and Haider Ackermann – plus did you spot that incredible studded Chanel glove?

For the final spread, Nicole gets sexy with the help of her pal, designer and stylist L’Wren Scott, who styled her in a check shirt and bra, while she frolicked in a field in a gorgeous editorial shot by Bruce Webber.

I don’t think we see enough of Nicole Kidman in magazines and after seeing these gorgeous but very different editorials I don’t understand why. There has been a transformation of the past few years with Nicole – not just in her editorials but also her red carpet looks and I am loving seeing her be a little more daring with fashion – she is so stunning.

Which editorial do you like the best? I think Camilla Akrans gets my vote as I just love the lighting, the setting and how beautiful Nicole looks.

Editorial Loving: Chloe Moretz Channels Old Hollywood For US Glamour

chloe-moretz-glamour-us-sept

Do you ever see some editorials and think why wasn’t that on the cover? Well that’s how I am feeling about the September issue of US Glamour. For the ‘Hollywood Issue’ the magazine went for Jennifer Aniston, yes I know she still sells covers, yes she does have a film out, but it just didn’t blow me away, on the other hand this editorial featuring young starlet Chloe Moretz channelling Old Hollywood glamour is divine.

Shot by legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier, the young actress of Kickass fame looks gorgeous in this editorial which mixes 1940’s Hollywood with a touch of 90’s grunge. At only 16, Chloe looks incredible dressed in looks by Diane Von Furstenberg, Chanel, Saint Laurent, and Isabel Marant.

Just imagine what an impact her black and white pictures would have made on the cover – I know not very Glamour, but come on for the September issue they could have so pulled it off.

I haven’t seen Chloe look this good before in editorials, it is a little mature possible for age, but I think that’s why it works so well and she looks absolutely flawless. I can see many luxury brands considering her as a future face – especially beauty and fragrance brands.

What do you think of Chloe Moretz glamorous editorial? Do you think that Glamour should have taken a chance and placed her on the September issue cover?chloe-moretz-glamour-sept chloe-moretz-glamour-sept-1 chloe-moretz-glamour-sept-3 chloe-moretz-glamour-sept- chloe-moretz-glamour-us-sep chloe-moretz-glamour-sept-2[Pics: Patrick Demarchelier/Glamour via thefashionspot.com]

Cover Loving: Blake Lively Wraps Up In Gucci For Lucky Magazine

Lucky-Sept-Blake-Lively

So the September issues are finally dropping and I have been a little underwhelmed so far, well that was until I saw the gorgeous Blake Lively all wrapped up in this incredible oversized cornflower blue Gucci coat with shearling collar.

Granted with our mini heatwave that we are having wrapping up in a shearing collar coat doesn’t sound appealing – but come on you have to admit that the Gossip Girl star looks incredible on Lucky’s September cover.

Snapped by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the actress who married Ryan Reynolds last year is the first cover girl for the magazine’s redesign with new editor-in-chief Eva Chen, if like me you are huge Teen Vogue fans you will already be familiar with her work.

Just from the cover I can see that Eva is bringing a more high-fashion feel to Lucky, which I am already excited about, and even though in the past I have enjoyed reading Lucky the covers never really drew me in – but I think that could all be changing.

Head on over to Lucky to see a preview of her cover shoot, Blake looks amazing in an Anthony Vaccarello dress, a classic DKNY trench, a sexy red gown that you will be surprised to find out is H&M, as well as cool oversized Givenchy jumper teamed with the sheer skirt that Zoe Saldana wore on the red carpet – I also love that the mag credits her wedding ring, which in case you were wondering she is wearing throughout!!!

In the accompanying interview Blake chats about dressing up, on texting Christian Louboutin for shoe advice, her style evolution, not having a stylists and how apparently her hubbie has “better taste” than her – I can’t wait to read – I have loved Blake since her GG girls as Serena van der Woodsen and this is a great cover.

What do you think of the new-look Lucky? Are you a fan of Blake Lively’s cover?
