Hotel Review: Renaissance Arc de Triomphe Hotel, Paris

Hotel Review: Renaissance Arc de Triomphe Hotel, Paris

Paris is one of my favourite places, I think New York is the only city that rivals it for me, and I love that it is so close, the Eurostar really does make it super easy to visit from London and the UK. However, when I have been to Paris before I’ve found it very frustrating finding a great hotel, they are generally tiny, expensive and not very modern.

Don’t get me wrong there are amazing hotels, but over the years I’ve come to realise that Paris is a city where it really does pay to go for something a little more special, the city is so beautiful and your hotel room needs to match, there really are other areas of your trip that you can budget on, for instance standard class on the Eurostar works just fine.

Andrey Hepburn In Paris When It Sizzles

Andrey Hepburn In Paris When It Sizzles

I have a love for old movies, I love the innocence, the storytelling, and most of all the beauty of the costumes. I promised at the start of the year more of these fashion pieces, it hasn’t quite panned out as I have planned, but I have a great one today discussing Audrey Hepburn’s incredible costumes from her movie, Paris When It Sizzles from 1964.

The movie itself isn’t a classic, it was actually panned when it came out, the story can be quite hard to follow and the chemistry doesn’t seem quite there between Hepburn’s character Gabrielle Simpson and William Holden as Richard Benson, but it’s in Paris, who doesn’t love to see the Eiffel Tower.

For me what makes this movie stand out is its fashion as Hepburn got her good friend Hubert de Givenchy to create all of her looks, and he didn’t stop at just her outfits as he also made her an exclusive fragrance, which she insisted he also be recognised for in the credits, when you watch keep going until the end if you don’t believe me.

24 Hours In Paris With Renaissance Hotels

24 Hours In Paris With Renaissance Hotels

24 hours doesn’t sound long in Paris, but as it is one of my favourite cities, I’ll always make it work, and as I was in town to celebrate Renaissance Hotels #DayofDiscovery I knew it was going to be a fun day.

I warn you this is a bit of a lengthy one, it was a jam-packed day, but trust me it will be a fun post – we went on a 2CV tour of Paris, we saw some iconic sights as well as secret spots of Paris, enjoyed some scrummy food, danced in the street, went to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition, and discovered a new amazing singing trio, The Groovy Project, it was seriously one amazing day in Paris.

Vlog: 24 Hours In Paris

Vlog: 24 Hours In Paris

So I’ve become a Youtuber, OK, not quite, but I have actually put some content on my Youtube channel, and the plan is to put more captivating content on there in the coming weeks and months, rather than just uploading videos shot from my smartphone.

The first of which is from my 24 hour adventures in Paris last week, if you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you probably saw that I went on a whirlwind trip to the French capital with Renaissance Hotels to celebrate their global Day of Discovery, which generally meant having as much fun as possible in 24 hours, which I hope comes across in the video, I even dance in the street!!!
