There’s something about a casual sunny Sunday with brunch plans with my husband that just calls for Converse. They just yell casual, comfortable and yet when they are covered in leather sequins you can also feel stylish.
I’ve spoken about my hunt for the perfect grey winter coat previously, as this year I’m trying to just invest in classic pieces rather than trends, I had all but given up hope when I spied this beauty in the Gap sale, only one left, in my size, was down from £99.99 to £39.99 with another 40 percent off, so for £23.99 I picked up the best bargain I have found in a while, and I’m in love with it.
Trainers are having a moment, they have never been out of fashion, so it isn’t a revival, so I am going with a moment – we have designers embracing the casual shoe on the catwalk, we have unsporty types opting for pops of colour to spice up their day-to-day outfits, and we even have hard core fashionistas embracing the comfort of the flats over heels. During fashion week everywhere I turned people were wearing the Nike FlyKnits, paired with jeans, leather skirts and even dresses – it seems that dressing down is the way forward.
For me, wearing trainers is the ultimate comfort, more so than wearing fluffy-lined boots on a cold day, they are an item of footwear that really has the ability to go with anything, plus if you really want to you could also run a mile in them, I don’t – but the thought is always there!!! One thing I am loving about trainers at the moment is how fun they are – with brands going for prints, textures, clashing colours and best of all retro shapes.
These beauties that I am wearing here are from United Nude’s new Runner collection, aren’t they pretty – they kind of remind me of a pair of Kangaroo’s I had in the 80’s, yep I am an eighties baby. I love everything from the shape, I do the slightly pointed toe to the vibrant stitching and the striped pattern that makes them instantly recognisable as being designed by United Nude. They are just so much fun.
There are six different designs, these are the Petrol ones, but all of them are just as vibrant, fashion-forward and will make a great addition for any trainer collection. Mine are probably the most toned down pair, but I just adored the neon pink trim, the others called Rave, Paradise, Violet, and Bright Mix are really statements, and there is a monochrome pair called Anis. I actually love them all – they really do capture the architectural vibe of the brand.
What do you think of United Nude’s fashionable trainers?

When was the last time you actually bought a head-to-toe look from one shop? Well a few weeks back I was challenge with £100 to do just that at Bank Fashion and it was hard – not because it wasn’t enough but because of the amount of gorgeous pieces.
They sell everything from DKNY to Superdry, as well as their own label brands including Blonde & Blonde, which does casual, cool pieces like this ripped denim skirt and these cut-out boots that I am currently living in they are so nice.
It was hard to choose my final piece, I was crushing over a fluffy jumper and even a Christmas pug jumper, but I couldn’t resist this Red or Dead checked boxy crop top. I am having a bit of a check moment, first I went for the Boohoo coat, then I recently bought a check scarf, and now I have added this beauty to my wardrobe.
You are probably thinking that I froze to death in this look, well I did a little while I was having my pictures taken, but actually I was in-and-out of the car all day, first for breakfast, then to watch a movie, and then a spot of shopping that I actually didn’t need to wear tights, I have to be honest though the coat did come on for those brief moments running across the car park!!!
What I love most about this look, other than the great fit of the denim skirt, and the cool check top, has to be those cut-out boots. I have a bit of an ankle boot obsession, stay tuned for a shopping post on my favourite pieces in the shops at the moment, and trust me you will be seeing these beauties in some more up-coming style posts.
