My Style: Black, Black, & More Black, With A Touch Of Animal Magic

Sometimes you just need to wear something simple, comfortable but an outfit that still makes you feel good, for me this can be one of two looks – jeans or a skater skirt and top, yesterday when I went for lunch with my friend Alex I opted for the girlie of the two.

As it was a mainly black look, shock horror hey I do love to wear black, I decided to pair my skirt and jumper with a cute white collar. When looking to freshen up a look, I am really enjoying teaming jumpers with cute collars, whether Peter Pan style, embroidered or like this one gold tipped – simple, easy and chic.

It may have been the first day of spring yesterday but that didn’t stop it from being freezing so I paired my look with my bargain coat from Dorothy Perkins and a bright orange leopard printed scarf that I picked up ages ago from New Look to add a touch of colour.

Finishing up my look is my animal magic jewellery, a rabbit ring and stag necklace that I was kindly sent from Wonsuponatime, I am seriously in love with this cute ring and so appropriate with Easter just around the corner, as well as my animal-effect bangles that I picked up from H&M.

I find jewellery is a great way to accessory a look without costing the earth, while still making a statement, and my latest obsession after arm candy has to be rings. I have gone years without wearing any rings, after my hands swelled up while in New York and my rings were destroyed  but I am embracing them again and love really dainty but statement pieces and this rabbit is one of my current favs.

What’s your tip for jazzing up a simple look?

My Style: Day Three At London Fashion Week

OOTD LFW Day3 gap My Style: Day Three At London Fashion Week %tag

Day three and the sun has been shining all day, granted still not that warm, but I don’t mind shivering when it is bright. Once again, another look, another shade of pink – so we’ve had a bright pink jumper, bright pink accessories and today I went for my new Gap blazer which I picked up in the sale last weekend.

Considering a blazer is a wardrobe staple I only seem to have two very ill-fitted ones so I thought it was time to invest for fashion week as you can dress an outfit up or down with one and lots of my friends recommended Gap. When I saw this bright pink beauty I couldn’t resist, even more so when it was £20 off – serious bargain that I am sure to wear all-year round.

As the trim of the blazer is a dark grey I thought it would make the bright pink stand out even more if the rest of my outfit was charcoal grey and black – and I think this is one of my favourite looks for a while.

As you know if you follow me on Twitter I love jeans but like most people I struggle to find styles that fit and look flattering and a number of my followers answered my pleas for help and suggested Uniqlo, a shop I love for t-shirts but have never tried for denim, but I have seriously been missing out.

These dark grey beauties are from the super soft, super stretchy skinny range, and I can assure you they are exactly that, they are just so flattering and for a long time putting skinny jeans on didn’t make me feel instantly fat. Plus they are super long, I have them turned up as wearing with boots today, but in the summer I will actually be able to wear jeans with flats and not feel like I am showing half my leg off!!!

Finishing off my look is my trusty Osprey London bag, this is so perfect for fashion week – classic colour, classic design and fits everything from my iPad, tickets, make-up, chocolate, phone, diary, notepad, pens, etc, etc, in, as well as my Ice-Watch, which sadly has the wrong date on it, my Topshop ankle boots that I am literally wearing to death, and a new statement necklace from New Look.

My Style: Day One At London Fashion Week

My style LFW day1 My Style: Day One At London Fashion Week %tag

Today has been a busy day, tons of shows, catching up with friends some of which I only seem to see twice a year, being pampered at The Apartment run by friend Abi – the lovely girlies at Rimmel did my make-up, and for the first time in about eight seasons I actually got street style snapped – not once but twice, seriously small pleasures really do make me smile.

This fashion week I have decided to work some of the trends/looks I love most right now, first up is boyfriend jeans, granted I would have loved to wear a strappy heel with them but the cold made me go for my comfortable, wear in any weather Topshop ankle boots. I must have tried on about 20 pairs of boyfriend style jeans on the high street, and 19 of them look awful, but then I tried these ‘Sexy Boyfriend’ style at Gap and I fell in love with them.

What I love about this look, other than the fact I was extremely comfortable, has to be the pop of colour from my Primark jumper, which worked perfectly with the gorgeous white broderie trim shirt from the Glamour for Very collection, and the super cute Angelica London necklace that I picked up at Task PR’s LFW gifting suite last week. I also really adore my new Mickey Mouse ‘Mmwwaah – seriously how cute is that.My style LFW day1 close up My Style: Day One At London Fashion Week %tag

My Perfect Sunday: Tea, Cookies & Grace Coddington

tea cookies grace 10 My Perfect Sunday: Tea, Cookies & Grace Coddington %tagSunday’s have and always will be, when I am at home, a time for relaxing and doing something I love, which generally includes drinking tea from bone china, eating freshly baked goodies, and reading a good book. Today, for the first time in a while, I did just that and it was perfection.

I got out my recently purchased vintage Salisbury Bone China tea set, which I acquired at a charity shop, it is beautiful with a subtle floral print and a gold trim, I just love its Granny chic vibe.

There is something special about tea sets that I just love, they are my latest obsession I love a bit of Wedgewood, but when I saw this beautiful set complete with two cups and saucers, a tea pot, a milk jug, a sugar bowl and a tiny side plate, I just couldn’t resist it and I am so pleased I didn’t as it was perfect for my Sunday afternoon tea party for one!!!

A tea party wouldn’t be complete without a cookie, and this double chocolate chip beauty was one I made earlier, and received high praise from my boyfriend who declared them my best ever, I think it was because for the first time my cookies actually came out looking round.

Then to make the setting perfect, I made my table all pretty by added some beautiful roses, I just love how flowers just seem to make me smile, and lit my favourite Osprey London ‘Dark Amber’ candle, it smells just like Christmas and is super relaxing, and then all I needed was a good book.

For Christmas I received so many fashion books to add to my growing library and I have slowly been working my way through them all and today I finally got a chance to start reading Grace Coddington’s autobiography. It is such a beautiful book filled with cute illustrations, can you spy Anna Wintour sat next to Grace below on the front row, and pictures of Grace when she was a model – I seriously can’t wait to get stuck into this book.

So what would be your perfect Sunday afternoon?

Revisited: Osprey Home In St Albans

Osprey Home 7 Revisited: Osprey Home In St Albans %tagI do love revisiting places, especially when they are as adorable as Osprey Home in St Albans, and last week I was invited by the brand’s founder and designer Graeme Ellisdon to take a tour around the treasure trove and a spot of lunch after its refurbishment.

What I love about Osprey Home, other than the obviously that it is full of pretty things that I want to fill my house with, has to be the charming feeling you get when wandering around the stable blocks, you basically never know what you are going to find. Plus as well as offering a gorgeous shopping experience this place has the most amazing cafe, seriously the cakes are to-die-for, and they have a collection of tea cups that I wish I had.

Since my last visit the main changes has to be that the place is bigger, they have extended the Saddlery Cafe, which was wise as it is very popular, they’ve repositioned the Home store slightly and have introduced new lines such as jewellery, which is curated by Graeme’s wife, Osprey London candles and fragrances, which smell divine, and generally they’ve allowed more room for the hand-selected vintage-inspired finds that I loved from my first visit.

As well as cute interior pieces, gorgeous food in the cafe, Osprey Home also has an outlet store for the Osprey London handbags and leather accessories at bargain prices. I have to be honest I haven’t spent a more relaxed afternoon in a while, I have added a lot of things to my wish-list, and I came away with some amazing interior inspiration as well. I wish all shopping trips were such a pleasure!!!

LFW Day 4: My Style – A Little Bit Prim and A Lot Proper

MyStyleLFWDay4 LFW Day 4: My Style A Little Bit Prim and A Lot Proper %tag

I am not sure why I am looking super grumpy in this piccie, maybe it was the chilly breeze outside the Topshop venue, but I am actually having one of my best London Fashion Weeks in a long time. Today was a very cool day as I got my first ever invites to the Pringle of Scotland and Michael Van Der Ham shows, which were amazing  - one had Olivia Palermo front row and the other one fed and quenched my first before the show – all will be revealed in my show reports.

I am a lover of cardigans, maybe it is because I am always cold, and I do mean always, and this chunky knit one from New Look is a perfect pastel shade for spring, but also a great length. I paired it with my knitted J by Jasper Conran dress, which has the cutest sleeves that I totally forgot to shoot, and to add some more colour to my look I added my favourite rose clasped Dorothy Perkins belt – I know I am crazy for the high street!!!

Finishing off my look was this quirky Wired Jewellery chalk-board ring, which came supplied with chalk so I could change up my look. I have to admit it is a little difficult to write in chalk – I have been trying all week to do #LFW, but in the end today I settled for a love heart as cute really suited this look.

**Thanks to Abi for taking my pic, holding all my layers, and generally being a fab pal.**

LFW Day 2: My Style – Added Barbie Charms!!!

MyStyleDay2LFW2 LFW Day 2: My Style Added Barbie Charms!!! %tag

Day 2 at London Fashion Week for me was all about the excitement of Barbie, as I blogged earlier this week my favourite doll is teaming up with Sister by Sibling as their model for their autumn/winter collection, so I thought in honour of her my outfit need to be a little Barbie-lious and it all started with my Barbie necklace and Thomas Sabo Barbie charm.

Been another hectic day, taking in shows from Daks, Elisa Palamino, Sister by Sibling, John Rocha, a cute presentation from Markus Lupfer, as well as seeing my friends over at Fashion Fringe for a presentation for former finalists Nabil Nayal and Alice Palmer at one of the most fantastic hotels the Corinthia, which Rihanna apparently was staying in.

Today, as always it seems on the Saturday at London Fashion Week was the day it rained, which always puts a dampen on things, mind the pun, and makes it harder to go to shows at different venues and I have to admit taking shelter at Markus Lupfer’s presentation wasn’t all bad!!!

My Style Details:

This wool blend skirt with pleated detail to the front and very Gucci-inspired block colours was a bargain at Primark, costing me just £5 in the sale. I love the pop of colours against the black, and the fit was perfection. I paired this skirt with my black Jaeger Boutique jumper, which has star cut outs, I got this in the sale a few seasons ago and recently found it in my closet and have fallen in love with it again. Today was very cold and the sleeveless top I was going to wear just wasn’t going to cut it.

MyStyleDay2LFW4 LFW Day 2: My Style Added Barbie Charms!!! %tag

Finishing off my look today was once again my Osprey London bag and Russell & Bromley brogues, I know bad blogger wearing something more than once, but hey the bag is perfection and I didn’t have time to change over all my stuff and I couldn’t be bothered to wear heels.

Finally pieces of my look were dedicated to Barbie – wearing her signature necklace that I picked up off Etsy at the start of the year, and my Thomas Sabo Barbie silhouette charm.

**Sorry for the poor pictures – with the rain meant no outdoor shots and the light at home is obviously terrible**
