Olivia Wilde: One Night, Two Stunning Looks

There is something different about Olivia Wilde of late, don’t get me wrong she has always been stunning, extremely beautiful and graceful, but she seriously hasn’t wowed me in a long time, so long I had to delve deep into the Fashionista Barbie archives to find her in that gorgeous Marchesa gown that she wore to the  68th annual Golden Globe Awards – now that was a frock. Since then she really hasn’t stood out on my radar, well that was until last night in New York where she wore two amazing dresses as she promotes her new film Butter.

First up was a very chic Alexander McQueen white leaf crepe pencil dress from the Resort 2013 collection, which fitted her perfectly. What I love most about this look, other than being very envious of her fab body, is that she wore this in white, she could have so easily gone for black and it wouldn’t have had the same impact, plus I adore white teamed with gold accessories – those Giuseppe Zanotti heels are amazing. Plus what better way to finish off a look than with an Alexander McQueen skull box clutch – absolutely love it from head-to-toe.

Second up, and by no means least, was her incredible transformation into a green printed Calvin Klein Collection cape dress for the afterparty and the launch of Calvin Klein’s new men’s fragrance, Encounter, you know the one with hunky Alexander Skarsgård as the face.

Her stylist, Karla Welch, who has been a busy lady lately also styling Zooey Deschanel and Kelly Osbourne at the Emmys, has really done an incredible job. I love cape dresses – hey Gwyneth Paltrow really did steal the show at the Oscars in Tom Ford, and I love any cape on a gown – especially when being worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, her red Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown was divine, and I really do feel that Olivia’s Calvin Klein look is just as gorgeous.

I have to admit I love seeing cape gowns go dramatic and skim the floor but I actually think those Calvin Klein Collection cobra chain heels really pull off this look falling just above the ankle. Another stunning look from Olivia.

Which of the looks do you think Olivia works best?

Empire Awards: Olivia Wilde In Carolina Herrera

Who: Olivia Wilde

Where: At the 2012 Jameson Empire Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London presenting an award to her ‘hero’ Gary Oldman

Wearing: A sheer silver beaded long sleeve Carolina Herrera gown from the spring/summer 2012 collection, teamed with a black Jimmy Choo clutch

Verdict: I am in two minds for this look – on one hand I am loving this delicate beaded gown it has a shimmering glamour that no-one else brought to last night’s awards red carpet, but on the other hand I just not sure if I am loving it on Olivia.

Everything from the heavy necklace-style embellishment to the dot-print silk chiffon should make this a standout gown, and on the catwalk it did but for some reason Olivia doesn’t shine in it for me.

What do you think – hit or miss from Olivia?

Winter Warmer: One Gerard Darel Coat – Three Celebrities

What do Emmy Rossum, Olivia Wilde and Katherine Heigl all have in common – other than the obvious choice of career? None other than this gorgeous Gerard Darel wool wrap coat – so chic isn’t it. A camel coat is a wardrobe staple, I am still looking to find my perfect match, but I do love the oversized lapels on this wool wrap.

The thing with the neutral camel shade is its versatility, which is shown here with their different looks, both Olivia and Katherine have opted for the casual look teaming the coat with jeans, knee-high boots and of course ever celebs favourite accessory, sunglasses. But for me I think Emmy has capture the elegance of this coat perfectly pairing it with her DKNY resort 2012 fuchsia skirt and top – the pop of colour really does compliment the coat perfectly.

After seeing these snaps I think I am going to have to hunt down my own camel coloured coat.

Buy Their Style: Priced at £435, this Geral Darel wool wrap coat is a great investment piece.

Who: Olivia Wilde

Where: At the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills

Wearing: A strapless chocolate brown sequinned embroidered Marchesa ball gown from the Pre-Fall 2011 collection, teamed with amazing Christian Louboutin heels

Verdict: LOVE this!! It is going to be a great dress to take this off the top of my best dresses list. I love the ‘princess moment’, yes I have been watching too much Rachel Zoe, but what a gorgeous gown. Olivia wears it so elegantly, and I love those fierce Loubs, shame that you can’t see them

Charity Gala: Olivia Wilde Works Michael Kors LBD

Who: Olivia Wilde

Where: At the Bulgari’s Save the Children and Artists for Peace and Justice benefit in Beverly Hills

Wearing: A long-sleeve black matte jersey Michael Kors dress from the pre-fall 2011 collection, with asymmetric draped detailing

Verdict: Black dresses have become my staple, and I love long-sleeves, not so much on the red *or black* carpet – but this body-hugging Michael Kors looks absolutely stunning on Olivia. Also special note has to be given to her great bangs and make-up as she really does look flawless.

Tron: Olivia Wilde Goes Gold in Emilio Pucci

Who: Actress Olivia Wilde

Where: At Walt Disney’s TRON: Legacy World Premiere held at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California

Wearing: A floor-skimming metallic gold sequinned Emilio Pucci gown from the Resort 2011 collection with keyhole detailing

Verdict: Olivia Wilde really does look stunning in this metallic Pucci gown, I love the full length sleeves, the sexy keyhole detail and the waist band nipping it all in – but most all I in love with how great such a striking colour looks on her. Not everyone can pull off head-to-toe gold, but Olivia certainly can as it looks wonderful against her skintone and her brown hair.

Art Of Elysium: Heavenly Fashion Statements

The stars came out to play last night in the height of the awards and party season to support the 3rd Annual Art Of Elysium ‘Heaven’ Gala Event in Beverly Hills. At the charity bash on Wilshire Blvd, Kirsten Dunst was awarded the Spirit of Elysium award in recognition of her endless dedication and support to The Art of Elysium. For me there were some great fashion statements made, maybe due to it being a charity gala the celebs brought more personality than they do for award shows. Check out my favourite outfits of the night: Stunning beauty Dita Von Teese completely rocked this Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture. Adding on her Twitter, “From my closet, my most♥dress!” Ashley Olsen in Alexander McQueen – love the lace train.

Kate Bosworth in a sleek grey Alexander McQueen dress.

Camille Belle in grey Valentino – love the movement of this skirt and the satin bow!

Nicole Richie – I am really loving her hair dark brown. This Etro dress though seems more of a summer outfit though to me.

Olivia Wilde – Marchesa frock complete with embroderied flower detail and accessorised with celeb favourite Brian Atwood heels.

Rachel Bilson stunning in Chanel teamed with YSL shoes.
