Shoelaborations: Sophie Theallet for Nine West

Nine West launched a new creative platform this week named Shoelaborations, not only do I love the name, but I adore who they chose as the first designer – Sophie Theallet.

The Sophie Theallet for Nine West collection tells the story of “Sophie from Paris Takes a Trip to NYC”, which means instantly I am sold, I love Paris and New York. Then I saw the pieces and I think I actually squealed slightly, and I love Sophie’s take on summer essentials.

The line for spring/summer 2011 includes: a ballet flat, a double platform sandal, a raffia wedge *above – completely divine*, two satchels, as well as a charm necklace and bracelet *want, want, want!!*.

How cute is the girl and the Eiffel tower charms? So amazing – and if your initals are ST then this bracelet is so made for you.

“Partnering with a well-established footwear and accessories business such as Nine West has given me the opportunity to live out my life-long dream of designing on a larger scale. I was able to take one of my favorite patterns and create a collection that captures both my design aesthetic and the spirit of the Nine West brand.” Sophie Theallet.

The collection will be available globally, but in limited distribution to the top Nine West stores, but it will also be sold online, so keep an eye out from May. Pricing is also very reasonable, $36 – $109 for a double platform sandal or espadrille. UK prices haven’t been released.

But this collaboration will get better come autumn as Giles Deacon is the second designer to take part. I can’t wait!!

SS11 Press Day: Nine West Goes For 70s Chic

Last week I had the pleasure of a walk through the Nine West’s spring/summer 2011 collection by Creative Director, Fred Allard. As with the autumn/winter collection it was spectacular. Like last time the space was elegantly decorated, whereas for AW10 Home House was decked out like an elegant banquet, for SS11 it was more relaxed, colourful and sense of art and style set out in the Art Space Gallery, on Maddox Street. Fred was telling me how he picked out all the furniture and styled it accordingly with the shoes – and what a job he did as it looked amazing.

For Nine West this season is all about the wedge, and how it makes me so happy, with its super-high, and its candy colours. I want them all!!

There were a lot of bright colours, which were complemented nicely with whites and natural textures, of wood, Hessian fabrics, and I love the jewels which added a glamorous touch. For spring/summer there is a perfect mix of casual and glamour in Nine West’s collection.

As with every Nine West collection, the high-quality craftsmanship comes out, and I love the Tali flats, in tan and gold, the laser cut-out detailing is exquisite.

I am a sucker for espadrilles, and why not they are super comfie and perfect for summer, and I think I will be popping down to Nine West as soon as this collection is in store. Gorgeous footwear mixed perfectly with quirky accessories, my favourite bag being the big round straw number and the colourful weave straw hat.

Actually – why not just add the whole collection onto my wish list – especially all the bright funky prints!!

Model Cause: Nine West Boots Made For Walking

Pic: Nine West

Nine West, CFDA and Modelinia are hitting the pavements in New York City for SS11 fashion week to raise funds and awareness for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, with the Nine West’s Runway Relief Program. Modelina fashion models Coco Rocha (above), Jessica White, Michelle Alves and Lisalla Montenegro to wear a limited edition Nine West boot during New York Fashion Week.
Each military-inspired knee-high, multi-buckled boot is equipped with a pedometer to track how many steps each model takes while going from castings and fittings to post-fashion show fetes. What makes it more than walking in models footsteps is that for each step taken in the boot Nine West will make a $10 donation directly to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
Modelinia have put together a dedicated website so you can follow the models step-by-step throughout fashion week, check out exclusive articles and behind the scenes videos from each of the participating models, and best of all the models are keeping video diaries and you can sponsor your favourite model.
To kick off Nine West’s Runway Relief Program, notable fashion photographer Nigel Barker will be photographing forty models from Modelinia, Elite, IMG, Next and Marilyn modeling agencies in an iconic New York City location, to capture the official campaign shots.
Like the look of these cool boots? Well a limited number will be available for sale on Nine West’s Facebook page for $199, or at Modelina or Nine West’s website from August 31.
What a cool idea, you get to follow your favourite model in her footsteps for fashion week, which means great insider access all in the name of charity. I don’t know about you but I am already championing Coco – who is your fav?

Nine West AW10: Vintage Elegance

Last week I attended Nine West’s AW2010 press day at Home House – a great setting for a collection all about opulence and elegance. I do love footwear previews as the styling is always so stylish and this one was no different set up as an elegant banquet with the shoes the main appetiser displayed on vintage china.

There to showcase the Victorian-inspired collection was Nine West’s Creative Director Fred Allard who is currently on his world tour, first NY, then London, with the next stop Hong Kong.

The boots as always really stood out with this collection, featuring great variety of textures from leather, suede, shearling and beading. Teamed with sophisticated fasteners – including ski clasps, buckles, zips and one of my favourite (below) books with these military inspired clasps.

There was also a sophisticated palette of colours, from rich reds, purples and greys. I know summer hasn’t even begun – but with this collection of boots I am already dreaming of autumn.
