Beauty: My Dulux Collective Passion Nails

One beauty trend that I hope never dies is nail art, I love trying out new styles, new colours and techniques, and I get excited when brands do their own nail branding for events. One of my favourite nail looks recently was from the Dulux Collective Passion event, not only did they have some cute designs, but the painting giants even made the nail varnishes from their spring trend colours.

The Dulux spring palette is a mixture of vibrant blues, radiant oranges and yellow shades, and my favourite was the in-your-face pink. There were lots of looks to choose from, either solid bold colours, stripes which were everywhere on the catwalk this spring, and texture-effect nails, which as well as being striking I love that they achieved the style using cling film, a trick of the trade that I will be repeating at home.

So what do you think of my Dulux nails? I am hoping that the paint giant teams up with a nail varnish company as I need this blue shade in my collection!

P.S. Don't you think this House of Harlow 1960 ring is incredible – more to come from this collection soon on the blog but I just couldn't help sharing.

Beauty: Emma Stone Gets Her Own OPI Nails

I am an avid nail varnish collector, I am easily bewitched by pretty colours and quirky names, work in my latest style crush that is Emma Stone and I seriously believe that OPI had created their latest collection just for me.

Fresh from the success of the Miss Piggy and Minnie Mouse collections, OPI have now release six new lacquers to get your Spidey senses tingling to celebrate Emma Stone’s latest flick, The Amazing Spider-Man that hit cinemas over the weekend.

The collection captures the vivid colours of the film and includes a stunning range of sultry dark green and blue metallics perfect for Peter Parker, but I am more drawn to the look-at-me brights of the pinky-red ‘Your Web or Mine?’ and the coral beauty made specially for Emma Stone’s character ‘Call Me Gwen-ever’.

I haven’t had time to try both my favourites yet, but I couldn’t resist working ‘Your Web or Mine?’ last week, I have a lot of pink shades from demure light to uber-bright neon, but this is more of a glam pink with a hint of red and I love that it really stands out.

I painted two coats as I wanted it to really stand out, but if you wanted a more subtle shade just do one and it will still have a great feel to it. I am not sure my images do it justice but I love the metallic finish of this colour, and I am excited to try ‘Call Me Gwen-ever’.

Will you be wearing The Amazing Spider-Man collection?

My Nails: Neon Orange From Nails Inc

As you know I picked up a lot of Nails Inc varnishes at their latest press event and I am slowly but surely trying them all out, I won’t bore you with them all but I wanted to share this very cheerful neon orange that I absolutely love.

This shade is called Westbourne Grove and is one of the brand’s new neon shades for spring and what I love is how true to colour this varnish is. I snapped it without flash and I haven’t edited the image other than to make it smaller to showcase that it’s as you see it in the bottle.

It was easy to apply and only took two coats, which I think is pretty good, but I would recommend adding a quick drying top coat, I tried out Nails Inc’s Kensington Caviar top coat and I was super impressed with its ‘wet look’ I think it added to the neon perfectly.

If you like bright then you will love this neon shade – Westbourne Grove, £11, and I would totally recommend if you are looking for a shade to cheer you up!!!

Beauty: Nails Inc Know What Makes A Great Shade

If there’s one thing I do love beauty wise, it’s nails. I seem to collect pretty shades like I do with fragrance bottles, I have ever known brand and generally a lot of pink, so it was nice to see what Nails Inc have coming out soon to mix it up a bit.

What I love about Nails Inc has to be how trend focused they are, each season I always seem to buy their catwalk inspired nail collections, which not only are they excellent value but the colours are always spot on. I can’t wait for the autumn/winter 2012 collection to hit stores in August as it features a gorgeous deep forest green shade based on Victoria Beckham’s show, as well as a navy glitter, a delicate nude, and a glossy plum seen at Paris Fashion Week shoes Chloe and Louis Vuitton, this is one gorgeous collection of varnishes.

The press preview was fun, I was introduced the to the classic shades, the gorgeous new neons with my favourite being Notting Hill Gate, a shocking pink, I like the idea of trying a neon and nude manicure with just the tips having a flash of colour, and I also loved the Sprinkles Collection, which adds a cool glitter effect to the nails, as well as the scented Juicy Sheers, a high gloss transparent colour that is actually fragranced with orange and strawberry scents, it has to be tried to be believed.

One of my favourite collection had to be the amazing new fishnet magnetic effect polish, which is pretty special for people like me who aren’t so great at creating their own nail art, as this polish does it all for you in a matter of minutes just by hovering over the magnet close to the polish, it was amazing and I can’t wait to try it out. The new shades are: Piccadilly a gold shimmer, Soho a chrome metallic, and Spitafields, which is an unusual green metallic that looks great with the fishnet pattern.

The there is the Nail Jewellery collection another favourite, it is a polish that adorns your nails like jewels without the mess of gluing diamonds to them. I can’t wait to try Princes Arcade, another pink shade over Black Taxi for a dramatic look.

The Nails Inc website already have a service where you can Pick & Mix your own colour collection, which is perfect for gifts, but I was able to test out the Couture by Nails Inc, which allows you to choose from a variety of embellished lids, your own colour, and you can also name the label, and customise the gift box with fun stickers from fashionista or simply Thank you.

Watch this space for my very own Fashionista Barbie, I think you can probably already guess but it is a shade of pink!!!

It was a great preview and thanks to Nails Inc’s generosity I came home with stacks of new shades to test out from their very own Pick & Mix stall, which I of course will be sharing when I use.

My Nails: I Have Been Branded By Olivia Rubin

What I love about press day season, other than seeing what goodies I want to buy the following season, has to be the pampering whether it is a hand massage or even a facial, which I have to admit I have never had time to stop for, but one thing I love to have done is my nails.

The latest craze is for brands to commission nail artists to design complimentary manicures to go with the collections, and on Wednesday I had the pleasure of being branded at Olivia Rubin’s press day with a ball of wool, which features in her gorgeous autumn/winter 2012 collection **more to come on that next week**.

I got to choose my colours, I went for OPI’s Pink Friday as my base colour, because come on I am a Barbie girl it would be wrong not to add pink into the mix, and for my ball of wool I decided on the most gorgeous electric blue shade OPI’s Dating A Royal.

Thanks to Mercedez aka Miss Merx Mani’s who did an amazing job on the wool, this is all hand painted, no stencil here, which has surprised a few people this week, and best bit is Mercedez added the most amazing fast-drying top coat from Seche that left my baby pink nails chip-free.

So what do you think – will balls of wool nail art catch on? I hope so, I love mine!!!

Beauty: I Want Sophy Robson Nails

I do love nail art, I would like to say I was great at it actually I am awful it always seems to go wrong, so if like me you need a hand in nailing the design why not check out Kings Road salon, Hari’s where Sophy Robson is the resident nail artist.

From painting Kate Moss’ nails bright red in her latest Rimmel ad campaign to tending to Pixie Geldolfs talons, Sophy is one in-demand nail artist, and come fashion week all the designers want her backstage creating exclusive looks for them. Remember the Dalmation look at Topshop Unique’s autumn/winter 2011 show? Or how about the Eek eyes from Giles Deacon? Yep, all created by Sophy.

Well for her spring/summer 2012, Sophy has designed 15 new nail designs exclusively for Hari’s, with designs including House of Holland’s houndstooth print, a sea-inspired ‘Into the blue’ taking note to Chanel, Versace, and Holly Fulton’s spring/summer collection, and you can even have Rihanna’s new favourite label Boy London  on your nails, but my favourite has to be ‘talk to the hand!’

The new looks will be available from May, with manicures starting from £32 and pedicures from £55, I would recommend booking as I am sure with designs like that she will get booked up pretty quick.

Beauty: Kate Spade New York Launches Nail Polish

As well as falling in love with Kate Spade New York’s straw bags I was also drawn to the brand’s first nail polish collection inspired by Australian artist Florence Broadhurst. Once again the brand has created the varnishes alongside beauty expert Poppy King, who help with the label’s lipstick line, Supercalifraglipstick, and they work perfectly with the brand’s preppy style.

This limited edition travel set hits Kate Spade NY stores and online this month and comes in a gorgeous summer palette of yellow, blue, orange and pink. As you all know I am a lover of nail varnishes especially of the pink variety, and I love the ‘Watermelon Fingers’ shade, or to you and I that is the flirty watermelon pink shade in the set.

As well as great beachy bright shades perfect for summer, I love that each one is named after Florence Broadhurst’s iconic patterns, so the pale blue is ‘Sea Foam Swirls’, the hot orange is ‘Solar Orange’, and my second favourite the sunny yellow is called ‘Yellow Cockatoo’.

For miniatures they are a little pricey at £25 a set, but if like me you are hoarder of great shades and love a limited edition they these are the perfect addictions to your collection.
