Christmas 2013: My Festive Wonderland

2013 christmas 24 Christmas 2013: My Festive Wonderland %tag

There is something relaxing and satisfying about laying out my Christmas decorations, organising which ones will make the tree this year, lining them up against my new purchases, and then finally making my home all festive.

This year it took me a whole day, a little longer than usual as I have added more lights thanks to the amazing selection at Marks and Spencers, with their LED holly berries, snowflakes and reindeer now draped across my units. In recent years I have only had time to do the tree and a drape some garlands over the mirrors, well this year I have kind of gone all out and made the living room my Christmas grotto.

Other highlights this year – my Laura Ashley reindeer light, it really does shine up a corner of the room next to the poinsettia and my favourite angel statue that I picked up at a vintage store one year. Another favourite is the musical snow globe also from M&S, it is nice to shake it up watch the snow fall while listening to ‘God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen’.

The tree itself this year, is once again the focal point, and it is a beautiful Nordman Fir and I have to say I think it is the best one we have ever had. There is a little bit of a nostalgic feel to the tree this year, I don’t generally go for themes except always having to include red, but the addition of the pompom garlands, honeycomb baubles and glass angels just makes me think of Christmas trees from when I was little.

Of course there are classic pieces, such as my ballerina, my wooden decorations, and the various stars, but I have also added new holly printed baubles, tiny Santa’s and snowmen, as well as drop icicles that just sparkle beautifully against the white lights.

I start watching Christmas movies in November, well October, but it never feels festive until the tree and decorations are up. I think this year might be my best-ever display, there is something mesmerising about seeing all my decorations twinkling and I have found myself loosing minutes just starring and smiling and I like it.

Have you made your house all festive?

My Style: ASOS Floral Dip-Dye Dress

Fashionista Barbie asos dress 7 My Style: ASOS Floral Dip Dye Dress %tag

Before the fashion craziness of September, my boyfriend and I always try to get away for a mini-break, so last week we headed to Wales for a spot of relaxation at a spa in Anglesey. More to come on the amazing hotel, the treatments and the island, but as I haven’t blogged an outfit post in nearly a month, so I thought I would share with you one of my favourite looks from my holibob.

This floral dip-dye smock dress is from ASOS and I bought it on a whim as it was in the sale, it still is and is only £18, I like the shape and the idea of wearing florals without being too girlie and bright. The thinking was I could wear during the summer with bright accessories and then come winter I could layer up with tights, boots and a chunky cardigan.

For dinner at the hotel one night I decided to wear this beauty paired with my bright orange heels from Marks & Spencer, I got them for a wedding last year and they are super comfortable and I love the pop of colour with the burn-out floral design of the dress. As I don’t have an orange belt, seriously the only colour I don’t own, I went with my trusty flower clasp beauty from Dorothy Perkins as this dress really needs to be nipped in a little otherwise it looks a little unflattering.

Finishing off my look I kept my jewellery simple, mainly because we were away to relax not get dressed up, so I wore my trusty Fossil watch that my mum got me for my birthday and my new favourite piece of arm candy – this cute bow bracelet from Kate Spade.

There is something about this dress that I love, and I think it works against the gorgeous backdrop of Anglesey, as it makes the pop of colours in the flowers and palm trees look even more vibrant.

Are you a fan of floral dresses and would you wear this beautiful dip-dye number?

Shopping: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Launches Her M&S Lingerie Collection

Yesterday I was a lucky blogger, I got to be in a room with the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who as regularly readers will know I am slightly obsessed with and she totally didn’t disappoint. Presenting her inaugural collection of sexy and luxurious lingerie for Marks & Spencer, Rosie talked through her inspirations, mainly her love of the 20s era, drawing on her experiences as a model, as well as replicating her favourite vintage Kimono vintage from her own wardrobe.RosieLingerie19 Shopping: Rosie Huntington Whiteley Launches Her M&S Lingerie Collection %tag

I was hoping for colour, especially as her lingerie line is a like a floral bloom, but I wasn’t disappointed in seeing Rosie looking stunning in a £55 fitted black dress from the M&S Autograph collection. Yep, you read that right, Rosie the supermodel wore and looked stunning in a dress we could all rush out and buy. The black peplum dress is gorgeous, I love the leather panel detail to the front, and I was surprised that it was off the high street. Finishing off her look were two skinny belts in black and burgundy, which really did highlight her tiny, tiny waist, and every celebrities favourite nude heels. It was classic and professional.

Unlike other celebrity lines, which I have to be honest I am always wary about how much they actually put into the collections, hearing Rosie talk in such detail and passion about each piece that came out in the presentation was refreshing. If the collection wasn’t stunning enough on its own, I loved it even more after hearing Rosie talk about it, I loved that even though she is drop-dead gorgeous she still has a shyness about her, her hands were glued to her notes and she didn’t look up much from them, it is nice to know that public speaking even makes one of the most stunning women on the planet nervous.RosieLingerie3 Shopping: Rosie Huntington Whiteley Launches Her M&S Lingerie Collection %tag

The 33-piece collection really is stunning, I loved everything from the colour palette of muted tones of dusky pink and green through to the scarlet blooms, and my favourite aspects of the collection had to be the intricate detailing of the Art Deco-inspired embroidery. M&S must really be patting themselves on their back for snagging Rosie as she is a star and this collection will no-doubt do well as it is gorgeous.

Prices start at £12.50 for knickers, through to £22.50 for bras and £65 for the silk kimono. Plus this collection has been made for nearly everyone, bra sizes range from A-E cups with selected styles G cup, and the knickers range from size 8 to 20.

I think £35 for a gorgeous bra set is amazing, but I can’t wait for the gorgeous cashmere pyjamas that are due later in the year they looked divine.

The Rosie for Autograph Collection is on sale in stores and online now – will you be buying her designs?

My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks

Wedding1 My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks %tag

At the weekend I went to my boyfriend’s oldest friends wedding, they were born an hour apart and have been friends ever since, so I decided to work two very different dresses from the Marks and Spencer Limited Collection. I know what you are thinking two dresses to a wedding that isn’t my own is a little excessive, well in my defence I was invited to the wedding ceremony at the church and then the evening bash, so with the downtime in-between I decided that I wanted to try out my new LBD in the evening.

WeddingDay3 My Style: One Wedding, Two Looks %tag

So, for the main event the wedding ceremony was in the most gorgeous church just behind Poole Quay, and I decided to be extra brave and work this amazing bright coloured digi-print from Marks & Spencer’s amazing Limited Collection. As soon as I tried it on I knew instantly that I loved it because of the colours and the flirty silhouette, I was a little worried however if I could pull it off. As it was so bright, I knew that working a bright pair of shoes would be perfect, as well as a bright colour on my nails, I went for Rimmel’s Peppermint shade. I did also look for a bright blue clutch but I couldn’t find one anywhere, but I am so glad that I went for this Art Deco-style clutch box from Warehouse as it will go with everything.

For the evening bash, which was in the RNLI’s Head Quarter’s right on the quay, I decided to work my new little black dress, basically I loved the print number but I forgot my white blazer and the black didn’t work and it was a little nippy, so I went for a black number teamed with my fiery heels.

Firstly I am in love with this dress, only £25 from Marks & Spencer it is a complete bargain and it is super flattering, I felt slim and sexy all night and I loved it paired with my blazer from New Look. I broke up the black with a skinny cream belt from Warehouse, which matched my clutch perfectly. I also changed up my jewellery a little and added a cool gold beaded doll bracelet from Maggie Angus’ new autumn/winter 2012 collection, which got a lot of lovely comments.

Shopping: The Sports Luxe Edition From M&S

womens ss12 03 Shopping: The Sports Luxe Edition From M&S %tag

I have been a little pre-occupied with my Birthday, thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes, as well as the Jubilee, which was super fun that I nearly forgot to share the amazing picks I found in the Marks and Spencer’s Limited Collection.

I know what you are thinking M&S isn’t the first shop you would hit when looking for key trend pieces but be prepared to be surprised with the spring/summer 2012 Limited Collection, which is M&S’s fashion-forward brand as I am loving so many pieces.

I have decided to focus on its Sports Luxe offering, as it us one of the hot trends that has hit the high-street off the back of the catwalk collections from the likes of Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant and even our very own Victoria Beckham. Think vests, zip-detailed dresses, comfortable trousers, jersey sweaters, parkas –  high-end casuals that will look amazing with wedge-style hi-tops that everyone seems to be lusted over.

As I am obsessed with Pinterest, if you aren’t already on it and love piecing together lots of things that you love into one place then hit me for an invite, I decided to create a pin-board dedicated to my favourite #MandSLimited SS12 Picks, which you can also see below.

AW11 Campaign: Marks and Spencer Go For Hollywood Glamour

ryanrosiems1 AW11 Campaign: Marks and Spencer Go For Hollywood Glamour %tag

I know the news of Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds and model and Transformer’s actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley fronting Marks and Spencer’s latest ad campaign isn’t breaking news, but the new Autograph collection that they are fronting went live yesterday, and I just had to share.

First up, we have to discuss what a weird but actually brilliant choice it is using Ryan and Rosie; random as this is hardly the age range or glamour reputation you picture with M&S, but so right because they look amazing together and actually make a great couple. If you knew how much I loved Ryan Reynolds you would know how hard it was for me to write that as come on Rosie is one of the sexiest women on the planet *love her pout*.

But we have to remember they are fronting the Autograph collection, this is more premium and I do think younger in its audience, come on who hasn’t bought some pieces from this collection?? I think this campaign is a clear statement that yes even M&S is fashionable. I am loving what Rosie is wearing and I have my eye on that bowling bag!!

The new Marks and Spencer Autograph collection is available in stores and online now, will you be shopping the new collection?

M&S always do put a lot into their ad campaigns, and if they have such big hitters for the autumn/winter – Christmas is going to be huge. As well as R&R, the high street retailer has also signed up the gorgeous David Gandy as the new face of their Collezione  autumn collection, I do love a man on a scooter!!

What do you think of the latest campaign?

Designer Copy: Marks and Spencer vs Erdem

I think this red lace Erdem dress may be one of the most copied pieces on the high street, well it is truly gorgeous, but I have found that none are great in colour, fit or even quality, well that is until now. I think this online exclusive from the Marks and Spencer Autograph collection is one of the best I have seen, especially as this Floral Lace Dress is only £89.

I just love its flattering silhouette, which nips in at the waist and flares out, add in the luxurious feel of the scarlet lace and this is one hot dress!!
