This is the first London Fashion Week in years where I haven’t done a full-on schedule, and surprisingly I am feeling more inspired than ever, which I think comes across in my growing confidence with my style posts, helped a lot by the fab Ashanti from AdornGirl who captured my look on the day. When I say more confident, I mean I don’t get super embarrassed every time a camera is pointed at me, I actually enjoyed myself, only taken me five years!!!
Sorry for the lack of blog posts this past week or so but I haven’t been too well, which sucks especially when you are in the midst of last-minute planning for a wedding, but it seems that my body decided, with a very public fainting episode that I needed to take it a little easier, and who am I to argue that.
But it seems that taking a back seat from Fashionista Barbie has made me miss my favourite doll so I thought I would ease back into blogging with this recent style post I snapped at Audley End House a few weekends ago when my Mum came to stay, plus I totally needed to share these fab James Jeans skinny jeans.
I love relaxing weekends visiting historical landmarks, I am kind of obsessed by architecture, but lately I can’t help but become consumed by the gardens at these stately homes when I visit in the hope that the gorgeous displays will magically appear in my own garden. Audley End is particularly pretty not only because of its Jacobean features, but also because it has such grand water features, impressive grounds, as well as some gorgeous floral displays. It is one of those places that literally just takes all the stress away. The only thing I think it could improve on is its cafe, it certainly wasn’t like visiting a National Trust property, but that just means that next time I come back it will be with a picnic basket stocked full of goodies.
As it was sunny but not crazy warm I decided to wear my new James Jeans ‘Twiggy’ skinnys, which when you see them off I even questioned whether I would squeeze myself into them, but the magic of these mid-to-high rise skinnys is that they have great stretch, and in this slate colour they really are rather forgiving. But what I really want to test out was the famous bum-lifting pocket tuck that James Jeans is known, which is probably why the likes of Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Jessica Alba wear them, as they really do make you feel amazing, and hopefully makes my arse look hot!!!
As it was a causal day I decided to pair these beauties with a shirt/jumper combo, perfect for the weekend, and I really do love the pop of pink under this grey and black jumper, and they both worked with my uber-bright Nike trainers for wandering around the grounds and house.
What I love most about this outfit is that it is one of those looks that you instantly feel good in and that you can wear again, and again, and best of all it really doesn’t require planning or thinking – it is just comfortable, and so me.
I know people are saying that skinny jeans are on their way out, but I just think that is coming from people who haven’t discovered their perfect pair yet, and trust me there is a pair out there to suit everyone. I really do think that skinny jeans have a place in everyone’s wardrobe, but I have to be honest I can’t wait to dig out my flares again!!!
Have you tested out James Jeans’ famous bum-lifting pocket tuck?

The sun is shining so of course I need to get my Barbie pink on!!! OK, so this look seems like I am covered up for winter, the gorgeous Odd Molly cable knit definitely photographs heavier than it is, but when the weather is nice, bright, but still a little chilly I love wearing knitted jumpers and jeans at the weekend – and for me spring sunshine is all about those moments when you can leave the house without a coat!!!
I was introduced to Odd Molly at an event last year, I have to be honest I hadn’t heard of the Scandinavian fashion brand before, but I have really fallen in love with its contemporary boho vibe, especially the jumpers and the smock-style dresses, it really is a label all about comfort, which I love.
This coral pink Corset Sweater really caught my eye, not only for the great colour, but for the details – the front is cute with its cable knit but this beauty is all about the lace knitted tie-string to the back. It adds something a little different and it definitely makes it summer ready.
Embracing the sun and the brighter outlook with this outfit I went for my trusty Ida by Donna Ida jeans but in the ice wash, rather than my go-to dark vintage hue. I worry wearing such a light colour of denim normally, I don’t have the smallest of thighs, but there is something about Donna Ida that just makes you feel and look great.
Finishing up my look are a few fun pieces of jewellery, first up is my Flamingo adorned Anna Lou of London enamel bangle, perfect when worn with a three-quarter sleeve jumper as this beauty really needs to be shown off. Then I have my beautiful butterfly necklace from Swarovski, I just love how delicate it is, and the colours really work with this jumper.
Are you a fan of a bright jumper when embracing the sun?

I do love spring, the promise of gorgeous blooms, the expectation of sunshine, the hope of striping off those winter layers we’ve been living in. Well this week I planned to wear my new animal print Superga tennis shoes with a denim skirt and bare legs, however the weather totally tricked me with its bright blue skies and sunshine that was absolutely freezing if you stood still for too long, so I decided that a pair of skinny jeans would be the best idea.
I still did brave it without a coat, instead I paired my laid-back look with a three-quarter sleeve crop jacket that I picked up from New Look last year in the sale. This beauty can be teamed with nearly anything – as a cover up for a dress on a night out to being paired with a flirty skater skirt and even as the perfect jacket to wear with jeans.
I might have been a little disappointed not to get the denim skirt out but these G-Star Raw GS01 jeans are so comfortable for skinny jeans. Not only is the dark untreated look of the denim perfection, I do love jeans that make me look slimmer, I also love the fit with the twisted seams and the gathering at the hem. It takes a lot for me to stray far from Donna Ida’s high-waisted jeans but these really do feel great on.
Finishing up my casual look is the ‘Wavy Gravy’ look from blow dry bar Hershesons who were at a press day I attended. They transformed my poker straight locks in less than 30 minutes into this classic tousled beach meets rock’n’roll look and I absolutely love it. Much like Blow, who I have reviewed on my blog, Hershesons has a set menu of amazing styles from the ‘Carlam’ grungy plait to the sleek ‘Smooth Wave’ and ‘The Swank’ billed as the most perfect undone up-do. I can’t wait to make my way through the menu!!!
