Met Gala 2011: Best Dressed – Isabel, Ashley and Rosie

After the Awards season one of my favourite events to cover has to be the Costume Institute Gala in New York, and this year’s event honouring Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, did not disappoint me. It seems that the Honorary chairs of the gala benefit François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek (in Alexander McQueen couture) seen above with co-chairs Colin Firth, Stella McCartney, and Anna Wintour, really did a good job on the guest-list.

I always like time to reflect on my favourites, but I think I have finally pinned it down to my top three looks.

Snapping up the top spot for me has to be Isabel Lucas, I love everything about her enchanted look, from the colour and the pleats to the bow-shaped button accents, oh and did I forget to mention the most amazing headpiece I have ever seen. Isabel looks divine in her Louis Vuitton gown.

Second up has to be this exquisite Donna Karan gown worn by Ashley Greene, the detailing on this dress is so amazing and every event needs that princess moment for me – and this one is perfection. If like me you are a little obsessed with this gorgeous gown and you are lucky enough to live in New York then head on down to the Madison Avenue Donna Karan store where the dress will be on display.

For my third slot I went back and forth a lot, as I loved all the McQueen looks especially Coco Rocha in her navy gown and Salma Hayek in blush, however I think in true Barbie fashion it is only right to go for a blonde in pink, so my third best dressed is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

You have to admit, the FHM’s World’s Sexiest Woman does look absolutely stunning in her custom Burberry frock, I am excited to see what looks she brings out for Transformers 3 promo tour.

Check out all the dresses here. Let me know which is your favourite.

Met Gala 2011: Ashley Greene Wows In Donna Karan

Who: Actress Ashley Greene

Where: At the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

Wearing: A custom made blush tulle draped strapless Donna Karan gown embroidered with platinum sequins in a fishbone pattern, teamed with a Judith Leiber clutch

Verdict: This was of the best surprises of the night for me, not only is this a gown with intricate detailing but I was surprised that Ashley Greene was the one wearing it. This I think is my best dressed of the night, truly spectacular, and I am glad that she worked this dress as it could have easily overpowered her.

Met Gala 2011: Eva Mendes in Stella McCartney

Who: Eva Mendes

Where: At the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

Wearing: An electric blue silk one-sleeve pleated Stella McCartney gown with a gold belt

Verdict: The colour, the pleats and the silhouette of this gown is gorgeous, however on Eva it just looks a little safe, elegant but still safe. I only say that because I always feel that Eva can pull of anything, she is still beautiful but I am going to have to list this as, was expecting more.

Met Gala 2011: Coco Rocha Goes Navy In McQueen

Who: Model Coco Rocha

Where: At the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City

Wearing: A navy halter-neck Alexander McQueen gown from the pre-fall 2011 collection with an embellished feather belt and feather clutch

Verdict: It was a hard choice between the models for me, Coco generally gets my vote I think she is an amazing model, and this is a stunning gown with all the feathers embellishments. But does she beat Gisele and Rosie? I am just not sure.
