AW13 Campaign: Sonia Rykiel Gets Inspired By Mad Men

If Don Draper was handling French fashion label Sonia Rykiel’s advertising campaign this is probably what he would have come up with – a striking, bold and very arty ad to mark new creative director Geraldo da Conceição’s first collection for the fashion house.

Featuring British model Sam Rollinson, the autumn/winter 2013 campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and pays homage to French advertising posters from the 1950s and ’60s.

I just love the styling, that sky blue coat is amazing, and I adore the graphic cut-out shapes – the keyhole, lips and a face silhouette, which is very Picasso, and Sam Rollinson looks stunning.

Everything about this campaign is bold, fresh and makes a statement – bravo Sonia Rykiel – these ads are going to literally pop off the page!!!

US Vogue: A Predictable Jennifer Lopez Cover

Last week I brought you Jennifer Lopez doing her best Million Dollar Baby impression with her very unexpected sporty cover for V Magazine, well it seems April is J-Lo’s month as she is also fronting American Vogue’s Shape issue with a more traditional glamorous look.

When I saw this cover, I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the other Jennifer – Lawrence that is promoting The Hunger Games as I am obsessed with the books, but I have to admit I don’t dislike it, however I am not wowed by it. Jennifer Lopez looks stunning in what looks like a Bottega Veneta gown in the cover shot taken by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, but after seeing her do something completely different for V Magazine this shot is just nice, nothing more, nothing less. Am I being a little harsh?

What did surprise me was that Vogue seem to be having a love-in with singers lately – February went to Taylor Swift, March to the lovely Adele and now J-Lo. I am hoping for something a little different and more creative for May.

SS12 Campaign: Givenchy Heads To The Beach

Trust Givenchy to bring a Gothic vibe to the beach, for the spring/summer 2012 campaign, the brand has enlisted its favourite supermodel Gisele to front its dark and stormy advert – it is gorgeous and captures the collection perfectly. Riccardo Tisci described the atmosphere as ‘the expression of a love story between a surfer and a mermaid’ and I think photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott have captured the mood perfectly.

At looking at this campaign I have to admit I am asking myself if for SS12 are Givenchy really doing black surfboards? As I could totally get on board with that!!!

AW11 Campaign: A New Era For Versace

Wonder if Mario Testino is a little bit peeved that he wasn’t booked to shoot the latest Versace campaign? Since 2004, Mario Testino has also been behind the amazing photography, well it seems 2011 autumn/winter campaign is the start of a new era for the Italian fashion house as for the first time ever they have worked with photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

I loved the edgy autumn/winter 2010 campaign shot in black and white and focusing on the blonde, well it seems that brunette is the new Versace girl!!! The campaign features Saskia de Brauw wearing the feathered dress that I fell in love with on the July ELLE cover, and I just love how they’ve gone for glamour rather than sexy, and the background looks amazing.

As well as the gorgeous Saskia the campaign also stars Sean O’pry. I think these images are stunning, but put them on glossy paper and they will be striking.

SS11 Campaign: Gucci Goes Glam For Spring

Pic: Gucci - Amber Double Raso Dress

For spring it seems that Gucci’s Creative Director, Frida Gianni has played with bold colours and sleek shapes to produce a gorgeous-yet-glam ad campaign. Once again shot by Gucci regulars Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot, the campaign features models Karmen Pedaru, Joan Smalls, Hailey Clauson. Nikola Jovanovic and Gen Huismans.

As SS11 campaigns go, this one is the one that has excited me the most, I think it is because it is bright and bold, but these images are great but trust me they look even better in print. Check them out in February issues.

My favourite image has to be the one above, gorgeous and striking, the Amber Double Raso dress with its feather, PVC, and metal elements embroidered detailing.

For more shots of the campaign visit Gucci’s Facebook page.

LOVE Issue 4: The Mannequin Will Be Mine

I gave you The Bombshell and The Heroine, both gorgeous, and I was worried about which LOVE Issue 4 was going to be mine come August 23 and then they released The Mannequin…LOVE it!!

Pic: LOVE - Buela The Doll by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

Buela is Ms Perfect, and I can’t wait for her to be mine!

I have loved every choice LOVE have made with their Gorgeous issue, playing out the different perceived sides of women, which couldn’t be complete without The Rebel and The Sweetheart.

Pic: LOVE - Agyness by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

There could of course be only one choice for The Rebel and it had to be British model Aggy. I want to love this cover, but I just can’t against the back drop of the others this is bottom of the pile for me – what do you think?

Pic: LOVE - Kelly Brook by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

Kelly Brook is obviously going for the most photo-shoots while being naked, she’s had a billboard, a playboy shoot and now her bum is showing on her LOVE cover. But come on if you looked as good as her wouldn’t you show it off? Well just in case you were actually looking at the bit actually covered up it is Marc Jacobs!!

Cover Loving: LOVE Magazines The Bombshell and The Heroine

Pic: LOVE/Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

So we’ve seen Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as The Siren, yesterday we had Alessandra Ambrosio and her red lippy as The Angel and now The Bombshell and The Heroine have been revealed as the latest covers of LOVE magazine’s Issue 4.

Of course Gisele was the perfect choice for The Bombshell role, a gorgeous cover and that hair is amazing. But for me it is refreshing to see a mature and gorgeous woman gracing the cover of a fashion magazine with Lauren Hutton cast as The Heroine.

There are eight collectible covers for Issue 4, so we’ve had four, with four more to go and I can’t wait! Each one has been stunning so far – role on August 23 – the choice of which cover to buy keeps getting harder.
