There is something cool about McQ Alexander McQueen, it has the rock-chick-meets-grunge-with-a-touch-of-glamour going on for it. At the autumn/winter 2015 presentation the design team laid out everything you need to be a cool girl, this wasn’t a collection about just making a statement, rather about styling up great everyday pieces including leather jackets, gorgeous chunky knits, and jeans.
I am still working my way through my September issues and the October covers are already being unveiled. September for me was all about Gwen Stefani, I love her cover for Harper’s Bazaar US, and it seems that October is going to follow suit as this is one of the best ELLE UK covers I have seen in a while.
Shot by Matt Irwin, Gwen looks incredible in this very high-fashion full of personality cover, I love the contrast of mixing the digital prints of Peter Pilotto with the flirty florals of the McQ by Alexander McQueen floral skirt. If you are thinking that the McQ looks a little familiar it is because I fell in love with the dress version at the press previews and adored it on Victoria Justice at the Met Gala.
For me the whole look gives the cover a 3D effect and I am sure even though I love it this cover is going to be a little like Marmite – you will either love or hate it.
I am desperate for my subscriber cover to drop through the letterbox, I am hoping that it isn’t just this image with the cover lines stripped off, I want more Gwen!!!
ELLE UK’s October issue will hit newsstands on September 5 will you be buying? Also do you think the mix-matched styling is a little too much or like me do you think Gwen can pull anything off?
Yeah, my subscriber cover just arrived, and it is so what I was hoping it would be. This cover totally shows off why I love Gwen as she is fun, quirky, but still drop-dead sexy. This pose looks even better in the mix-match styling than the newsstand cover and I am so pleased. This is what the subscriber should be – different, unexpected but striking. I love, love, love it!!!
Which do you think is best newsstand or the subscriber version?

My style crush on Emma Stone is getting nearly as bad as my one for Diane Kruger, I am not sure why but she just has the unique ability to make me smile. I completely adore her girl-next-door vibe mixed in with a chameleon who can work nearly any look, add in her goofy personality and her stunning beauty and she has it all going on. Seriously her Revlon beauty ads make me look twice, and her red carpet looks keep on wowing me.
With all that love I am so pleased to see Emma finally grace the cover of American Vogue, and what a beauty of a cover it is, surely the best one of the year so far. Shot by Mario Testino, Emma looks divine in a look from Nina Ricci’s autumn/winter 2012 collection on the July 2012 cover, and the accompanying editorial is just as gorgeous featuring looks from Jil Sander, Ralph Lauren, Prada, and Givenchy.
The Teen Vogue August cover, shot by Josh Olins, isn’t quite as striking as the American Vogue cover, but come on how adorable do Emma and Andrew Garfield look together. What I will say is that the purple Louis Vuitton dress that Emma is wearing is such a good colour on her, but I have to be honest I would have preferred it if they had gone for a solo Emma cover – especially if they’d used my favourite floral McQ Alexander McQueen dress that Victoria Justice wore to the Met Gala.
The rest of the editorial is cute, chemistry isn’t amazing considering they are an actual couple as well as co-stars in the latest Spider-Man flick, but I am loving the use of Marc Jacobs, Mulberry, Prada, Calvin Klein, and how adorable does Emma look in that Marc by Marc Jacobs hat.
I think I already know the answer – but which cover do you prefer grown-up or teen Vogue???

Who: Teen star Victoria Justice
Where: At the Met Gala 2012 in New York
Wearing: A floral embroidered tulle bustier McQ Alexander McQueen dress from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, over a velvet embroidered tulle body, velvet chain belt, and an Alexander McQueen black leather and gold studded knuckle box clutch
Verdict: I love it when a young actress dresses their age and this is great dress from the 19 year old, her sweet vibe really looks amazing in this edgy floral number from McQ that I have been looking forward to seeing on the red carpet after I saw it at the press preview.
Last night on the livestreaming Victoria didn’t get much time but I spotted this floral explosion in the madness and intanstly loved it on her. I also love that she didn’t do too much with her hair and make-up, she looks fresh and gorgeous, this is a great entrance onto the red carpet scene for her I can’t wait to see more from her.
Victoria is definitely my best dressed list – does she get your vote?
Also thanks to Miss Magpie on Twitter for cheering me up this morning this adorable sketch of Victoria in McQ – seriously amazing, and it was done in a matter of minutes. I so wish I could draw!!!!
