LFW SS13: Louise Gray Is A Barbie Girl!!!

So my favourite doll Barbie loves coming to London Fashion Week, last season I loved her modelling for Sister by Sibling, and the season before she made Ken a little more stylish by working with Casette Playa, but this season is the best yet as she will be sponsoring the amazing Louise Gray’s catwalk show.

I actually squealed a little when I heard, Louise Gray is the perfect Barbie girl, not only has she openly admitted to loving Barbie as a child, she is a fellow blonde, she loves sequins and pink and her quirky take on girlie is just what Barbie needs for her latest fashion makeover.

“My clothes are always about colour and fun – making a bold statement through the way you dress.  I wanted to see Barbie® in some separates and layer up her look, giving her a different way to be girly and fun, than how people are used to seeing her.”  Louise Gray

I am super excited to see Louise Gray’s spring/summer 2013 collection on Monday, as not only will it be a bold spectacle, I always love attending her shows, but three of the looks have been inspired by Barbie, and they aren’t going to be just for show, these Barbie looks will be sold as part of her collection.

The good news keeps coming though as I am most excited about the fact that Louise Gray will also be dressing a special one-off Barbie doll in one of the new season looks she has created for her – OMG scream!!!

Granted I wish it said that it was going to be sold, a Louise Gray Barbie would have made a great addition to my collection. I was trying to guess what a Louise Gray Barbie will look like, I have to be honest I am kind of hoping that Barbie gets a little rag doll makeover similar to Louise Gray’s spring/summer 2011 collection, or a sequins overload like her Topshop collaboration, I could keep going on but I am sure pink will play a part!!!

I was excited about London Fashion Week before, but now I seriously can’t wait for Friday when the shows begin and come Monday I will be hyper waiting for Louise Gray and I promise that I will tweet a piccie of the Barbie doll as soon as I track her down!!!

Shoe Obession: Barbie Is A Shoe-a-Holic

BarbieShoe4 Shoe Obession: Barbie Is A Shoe a Holic %tag

It has been a month or so since I bought my last Barbie, I know fashion month really does screw with my doll needs, so I am on the look out for my next addition and I came across this shoe-obsessed Barbie doll. Working a white tulle bubble dress that has been customised with yellow, purple, black and pink shoes inside the skirt, this doll really has it bad for shoes that she is even wearing them around her neck, which is so cool that I want it in an adult size!!!

I love this fun Barbie doll especially because of her fun ponytail hairstyle, I have been known to buy dolls just on the face and hair alone and this one is perfection.

What’s not to like – just a fun shoe-loving doll – I think she would sit right at home with my dolls.

Do you have a Barbie collection? Would love to know what your last purchase was.

nickiminaj1 Charity Barbie: I Need Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj Dolls!!! %tag

The annual One-of-a-Kind Barbie auction for Divine Design, Project Angel Food’s fundraising event has now gone life and it is bigger and better than ever. Last year I was lusting over the divine Janet Jackson doll and this year I wish I had lots of money to bid on the fabulous Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj Barbie dolls, both have an estimated value of $15,000. Well I can dream!!!!

Both auctions run until December 19, but be ready to spend a lot as Katy’s doll-size replica inspired by her California Gurls video, is already up to $1,750. But come on how amazing is it. I love it just for the gorgeous couture cupcake skirt, which features 70 hand-painted mini cakes, a candy-coloured glitter-kissed bodice and fishnet stockings dotted with shimmering Swarovski crystals. Seriously good enough to eat!!!

The Katy Perry doll also comes with her own too-sweet-to-eat waffle-cone stage complete with swirly pops, ice cream mountains and cotton candy clouds. However, no sign of Snoop Dogg!!!!

The Nicki Minaj Barbie doll pays homage to her Pink Friday album cover, which she kind of looks like a Barbie doll – minus the arms!!! Well now the doll-loving rapper has been made into a 11 ½” fashion doll sporting a complete replica of the gorgeous tulle gown and pink booties that she worn on the cover.

Of course, this couldn’t be Minajesty without her Barbie bling necklace and cotton-candy pink hair. Everything about her style has been recreated by doll-tastic designer Stephen Sumner, from her hand-rooted eye lashes to the tattoo on Nicki’s left arm, he even hand-placed each crystal accent on her jewellery.

“It’s just a one of a kind, limited edition for charity, and so I never thought Mattel would even pay attention to me,” Minaj said on the red carpet at Billboard’s Women in Music event in NYC yesterday. “For me this is a very major moment, because it just shows that you can come from nothing and still be a force in the main world, a business woman, and hopefully a mogul one day.”

If you want Nicki though dig deep for charity as it is already up to $1,355!!!

If you can afford to bid, do, as all the money goes to the amazing Project Angel Food charity, which provides meals for men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Maybe I need to start saving now for next year’s auction!!!

Want, Want, Want: Holiday Barbie 2011

I may have already had quite a lot of my Christmas presents early, with my new camera and fish tank, I know it isn’t even November yet, but hey that doesn’t stop me adding things to my wish-list especially when it comes to Barbie!!

Exclusive to John Lewis in the UK, Holiday Barbie 2011 looks amazing in her one-shoulder floor-length emerald green gown embellished with gold embroidery and jewel accents. I completely love the colour and the shape of the dress with its golden lamé underskirt – this is one glamorous outfit. Completing her festive look are some glitzy dangling earrings, a very old-Hollywood glamour hair-do and the most gorgeous shade of red for her lips and nails.

I am also hoping that with Holiday Barbie comes the matching Christmas bauble – I would love a Barbie Christmas tree this year.

I have to say it, I don’t think my Christmas will be complete without Holiday Barbie. Maybe a present to myself!!!

First UK Campaign: Barbie Hits The Red Carpet

Apparently this is Mattel’s first UK-specific brand campaign for Barbie, I know crazy right, but it seems the global company wants to build Barbie’s relationship with girls of the UK, finally.

The first of the two campaigns created by ad agency Ogivily, in which it attempts to revive the doll’s ‘cool factor’, showcases what looks like a Fashionista Barbie *not me, the doll line* as a celebrity walking the red carpet, with Ken trailing behind.

I suppose it is a great move to make Barbie a celebrity as it seems everyone is obsessed with the celeb culture, but it also shows Barbie as a superstar, which I kind of approve of as she is!!!

This campaign is aimed at 4-9 year old girls, which is fine and all, so then why are all the screams coming from women in their twenties?

What I love is that with this advert I have hope that more than just Fashionista Barbie’s hit the UK stores, maybe once in a while we might get an exclusive, and I seriously hope the prices might reflect that of else where in the world.

I also love Barbie’s two-tone sequined gown, very glamorous, and kind of reminds me of my Heidi Klum Barbie. Also the tagline is perfection, ’you can’t get bigger than Barbie’, which is very true!!

This advert hits TV’s last weekend, and the second spot, the salon, features Barbie being pampered by her stylist, hits screens next spring. I just hope the campaigns work and girls of Britain embrace the wonders of Barbie!!

I got excited about this collaboration without even knowing that it was the amazing nOir Jewelry when I showcased the Barbie Dream House Ring, but now it seems the whole amazing collection of 26-pieces are now available to buy, and I’m in love.

If you aren’t familiar with nOir Jewelry then you have to check back at my previous post about their hook up with DC Comics, I still really want the Wonder Woman logo necklace, and they even did one with Walt Disney. Well it seems that the labels latest muse is the one-the-only plastic fantastic Barbie. Cue my screams!!!!!

barbie charm necklace 500x500 Barbie Bling: nOir Jewelry Presents Its Latest Muse %tag

This collection is cute but with an edge, featuring statement rings, quirky necklaces, and my favourite items have to be the charm necklace based on Barbie’s staples. There are 16 charms to choose from, think shoes, perfume, a curling iron, hair-dryer, her signature lippy and even a special ring from her lover Ken!!!

I just love that it is a jewellery line that is accessible, prices range from $30-$375, so this is a collection that every Barbie fan can get involved in.

I have picked out a few of my favourites below:

good girl gone blonde 500x500 Barbie Bling: nOir Jewelry Presents Its Latest Muse %tag

I adore this Good Girl Gone Blonde Necklace, $120, quirky statement jewellery at its very best, I love the gold lettering enamelled in pink, but if you want you can also go for this in black.

Even nOir’s classic pyramid ring has been Barbie-fied and I love it!! Featuring pink enamel on top and a pink Barbie silhouette on the side this is a cute addition, and isn’t too pricey at $60.

However, I think all my penny’s will have to be spent on the charms, it is like they’ve created it just for me as I am additcted to charms. Thomas Sabo created a Barbie line for her 50th birthday and I have them all  *thanks to Paulie*. I have chosen the five charms I don’t think I could live without, also this is a huge hint as my birthday is less than a month away *hint, hint loved ones!!!*.

1. Lipstick Charm, $35

2. Shoe Charm, $55

3. Mirror Charm, $45

4. Head Charm, $35

5. Hair Dryer Charm, $45

I love it when collaborations work, this collection still has the edge of nOir Jewelry but the cute factor of Barbie, which pieces are you lusting over?

For weeks Ken has been stalking - sorry wooing – Barbie, well this week the plastic pair rekindle their romance when Barbie said yes!!

They’ve been apart for seven years, but after cupcakes, billboards, dating sites, and even adverts declaring his love, oh and the masses of fans who voted, Barbie just couldn’t refuse. Keeping up with the social trail of the wooing, Barbie aptly changed her status on Facebook to “in a relationship” and the couple even merged their Facebook pages, how very sweet!!

“Barbie and Ken have an epic love story that has stood the test of time,” said Stephanie Cota, Senior Vice President Global Marketing, Girls Brands. “As the ultimate boyfriend for every occasion, Ken knew just what to do to win Barbie back. The iconic couple is truly made for each other and this is just the beginning of their next chapter together.”

To celebrate their rekindled romance, Barbie and Ken dolls appear together in a limited edition ‘Together Again’ gift set. I am not sure if this is just available in America, but the gift set shows them sporting sun-kissed tans and modern fashions inspired by their original 1959 and 1961 swimsuits, as they go for a romantic date in Malibu.

Not only is this a cute set, the limited-edition set is only $5 – BARGAIN!!
