Wearing: A strapless silver-embroidered lace column Marchesa gown, teamed with Fabergé jewels, and a silver box clutch

Verdict: Best Old Hollywood glamour award most certainly goes to Naomi Watts she looks lovely in this Marchesa gown.

The intricate detailing in this gown is incredible and it really shimmered beautifully on camera and it works perfectly with her sideswept wavy locks.

This is just one beautiful look.

Primetime Emmy Awards: The Trends – Citrus Hues, A Sea Of Blue, and Shades Of Grey

trend1 Primetime Emmy Awards: The Trends Citrus Hues, A Sea Of Blue, and Shades Of Grey %tagI am a lover of the red carpet, I love seeing my favourite actresses, singers, and TV personalities looking all glamorous in designer couture gowns, and last night I was blown away by the standard of the Primetime Emmy Awards.

As well as spotting which designers they are wearing I also like to see the trends taking form, last award season there was a lot of open backs, and this Emmy Awards was all about a hint of colour, the various shades of blue and grey, with a little oxblood and floral mixed in for good measure.

I have already blogged some of my best dressed looks from January Jones’ statement Zac Posen gown to  Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier, to the shimmering beauty that was Lucy Liu in Versace, and the bombshell that is Sofia Vegara.

But with so many good looks I thought it best to do a trend post – so here are some more of my favourites.

Citrus Hues:

trendcitrus1 Primetime Emmy Awards: The Trends Citrus Hues, A Sea Of Blue, and Shades Of Grey %tag

Normally there is a lot of black on award ceremony red carpet, that isn’t to say there wasn’t any last night – did you see January Jones, but what I was pleased about was all the citrus hues – ranging from vibrant oranges to canary yellow – maybe it was the California heat but the red carpet was sizzling.

Leading the orange pack was definitely Monique Lhuiller she dressed Ginnifer Goodwin in an orange floral embroidered beauty and Padma Lakshmi looked radiant in her strapless trumpet gown – the colour was perfection on her.

Then there was Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan, I love the contrast of the marigold coloured skirt with the embroidered ivory halter-neck bodice – seriously beautiful.

Finishing up the orange hues is Lindsay Pulsipher in Bibhu Mohapatra – everything about the colour to the Grecian styling of her hairstyle this is a gorgeous look.

Yellow was another key trend, which I was a little on the fence with as I am not sure about yellow on the red carpet, but I loved Julianne Moore’s canary yellow Christian Dior Couture gown – the full silk skirt looks stunning on her.

A pregnant and Emmy award-winning Claire Danes went for Lanvin, she said ”it’s very bump friendly”, which is very true the draping was flattering and the colour really complemented her skin-tone.

But my favourite of the yellow gowns had to be ‘New Girl’ star Hannah Simone in a sunny yellow custom one-shoulder Emilio Pucci gown. I love the shade, I love the sexy thigh-high split, and the Lorraine Schwartz leaf earrings. One thing I can’t cope with though is her visible tan marks!!!

A Sea of Blue:

trendblue2 Primetime Emmy Awards: The Trends Citrus Hues, A Sea Of Blue, and Shades Of Grey %tag

The blue tones ranged from aqua to midnight blue and each really stood out on the red carpet. Leading the pack were the darker shades, it is hard to choose my favourite but the two that really stood out were Sarah Paulson in Reem Acra, the embroidery was exquisite, and I adored the Louis Vuitton gown that British actress Michelle Dockery wore, it was simple but elegant.

I also added in Hayden Panettiere into the mix, I have to be honest I kind of like the dress the gold-embroidered Marchesa gown with blue tulle overlay works well, but I worry that it is a little too mature for her.

trendblue1 Primetime Emmy Awards: The Trends Citrus Hues, A Sea Of Blue, and Shades Of Grey %tag

The aqua and pale blue hues were a little more playful and sexy. From the neck down I adored Julianne Hough’s Georges Hobeika Couture, I just don’t understand what she did with her hair. Heidi Klum showed off her sexy side in in Alexandre Vauthier - showing Angelina Jolie how to work a thigh-high slit.

But the gown that caught my attention had to be Zooey Deschanel’s princess gown designed by Reem Acra, it was whimsical, quirky and cute and she looked amazing, but why in all the pictures is she not smiling???

Shades Of Grey:

trendgrey1 Primetime Emmy Awards: The Trends Citrus Hues, A Sea Of Blue, and Shades Of Grey %tag

There is always something nice about grey and silver tones on the red carpet, always makes me think of Old-Hollywood glamour, and there were some elegant gowns last night.

Emily VanCamp from my new favourite show Revenge looked gorgeous in a delicate pleated J. Mendel gown, I adore the dove grey shade and the sheer bodice. But what makes this outfit has to be her bow tie Van Cleef bracelet – the best jewellery of the night!!!

With grey comes shimmery silvers and Lucy Lui in Versace and Kerry Washington in Vivienne Westwood Couture both dazzled at the Emmy’s, Kerry’s gown just looked effortless and sexy. I am going to call it tie between these two.

There were a number of Vivienne Westwood Couture gowns on the red carpet last night, with Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt leading the charge in this incredible corseted gown, which had a belt to nip in her tiny waist, and a split to add a touch of sexy – this dress had it all!

But my favourite shade of grey goes to Homeland’s actress Morena Baccarin who wore a sexy Basil Soda gown with a plunging neckline. I love the daring flash of cleavage, hey if you looked like Morena wouldn’t you flash them, and the David Webb drop earrings – this is a statement gown that totally floored me I love it!!!

So do you have a favourite from last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards?

Venice Film Festival: Maika Monroe Wows In Marchesa

MaikaMonroeMarchesa1 Venice Film Festival: Maika Monroe Wows In Marchesa %tag

Who: Professional kite boarder-turned-actress Maika Monroe

Where: At the Lancia Cafe ‘At Any Price’ Cocktail Party during the 69th Venice International Film Festival

Wearing: A white short sleeve, sequinned and feathered embroidered Marchesa gown featuring a chiffon trumpet skirt, a plunging neckline and an open back from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, teamed with diamond drop earrings

Verdict: Wow, what a way to make an entrance onto the red carpet circuit by wearing a show-stopping Marchesa gown. I have to admit I had to google Maika as I hadn’t heard of her before, but with her starring opposite Zac Efron in her first feature film, I think we will be seeing a lot more of her.

This gown instantly hit me as it kind of reminded me of the short red Marchesa that Jennifer Lawrence wore for her Hunger Games promo as well as the Marchesa gown Fergie wore to the Met Gala last year, but I have to give it to Maika as she really pulled off this eye-catching frothy gown.

Everything about this look shouts star in the making and I love that she makes this dress youthful. Sometimes feathered embroidery and frothy chiffon can age the wearer, but not for Maika. I think the clever styling keeps her looking fresh – I love the messy side gathered plait, her barley-there make-up, and the dark nail varnish adds personality. I really do love this look from head-to-toe!!!

I will definitely be keeping an eye out for Maika Monroe on the red carpet in the future – this debut appearance has really impressed me, I think it is because she has a Kate Hudson/Blake Lively quality about her – strikingly gorgeous.

What do you think of this Marchesa gown on Maika?

Jacob & Co Charity Gala: Diane Kruger In Marchesa

marchesaDiane3 Jacob & Co Charity Gala: Diane Kruger In Marchesa %tag

Who: Diane Kruger

Where: At Jacob & Co’s charity gala held at the Salle Empire, Hotel de Paris in Monte-Carlo, Monaco

Wearing: A white column Marchesa gown featuring feathers on the sleeves and waist and gold embroidery embellishments to the bust from the Resort 2013 collection, teamed with Jacob & Co. diamond drop earrings, a cushion cut diamond ring and diamond cuff bracelet

Verdict: Wow, what a beauty Diane Kruger is, my crush is going into serious overdrive after seeing this look. I think if you saw this dress on anyone else with all those feathers it might have been a touch OTT, but on Diane this show-stopping gorgeous gown just looks perfection.

I love that the fact that she wore her hair pulled tightly up, it allowed the dress to shine as well as those incredible drop earrings.

I am in love with this look – what do you think does Diane pull off this gorgeous Marchesa gown?

Cover Loving: Rose Byrne Looks Gorgeous For Flare

flareaug Cover Loving: Rose Byrne Looks Gorgeous For Flare %tag

I have said it several times before but Flare is a fab magazine and they really do produce gorgeous covers, and the August issue with the stunning Rose Byrne is another example of a great high-fashion cover.

Shot by Max Abadian, Rose is a picture of elegance wearing a stunning red lace Marchesa dress from the autumn/winter 2012, which if you are thinking it looks familiar it is probably because it is the same one that Jennifer Lawrence wore on her Hunger Games promo tour, and it is quite similar to the one that Blake Lively wore last year at CinemaCon.

The accompanying editorial spread is just as stunning, Rose looks incredible in a variety of autumn looks from labels such as Christopher Kane, Marc Jacobs, and Balenciaga, styled by Elizabeth Cabral. I am also loving her make-up, her Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in shade 01 on the cover is perfection.FlareRose2 Cover Loving: Rose Byrne Looks Gorgeous For Flare %tag

In the interview, Rose discusses her off-duty style, red carpet preparation, as well as talking about that gorgeous Elie Saab jumpsuit that she wore to the 2012 SAG Awards, which I think kind of started a red carpet trend on Elie Saab jumpsuits, and her sparkly Vivienne Westwood Oscar dress.

On her Elie Saab jumpsuit at the 2012 SAG Awards: “When I wore that jumpsuit, Penny [her stylist] and I fully discussed that you can’t please everybody, that it will probably be loved by Vogue and hated by People. It’s just clothes, it should be fun. It’s been good, to take risks knowing that’s the reality of it.”

On her Vivienne Westwood dress at the 2012 Academy Awards:
“[Vivienne Westwood] worked so well with us altering it, it ended up totally different from the original dress.”

On preparing for red carpet: “You’ve got to get your stamina ready. Particularly for an awards ceremony, that’s a different league. But I have my group around me, and it’s fun. I think for the red carpet in general it’s important to keep it youthful. A lot of people can look very dressed up and old and severe. That’s sort of my worst fear, is erring on that side.”

On her pre-red carpet ritual: “Try to get a good night’s sleep, don’t go out at all the night before. In the morning, get some exercise, for mental health. Then it’s just fun.”

On her off-duty style: “I go through phases. But I mostly dress in high street clothing, like Urban Outfitters. Every day, really.” FlareRose1 Cover Loving: Rose Byrne Looks Gorgeous For Flare %tag
