Cover Loving: Diane Kruger In Hugo Boss For Vogue Germany

Diane Kruger Covers Vogue Germany july14 Cover Loving: Diane Kruger In Hugo Boss For Vogue Germany %tag

I do love a magazine cover that portrays movement, it always makes it more striking and appealing, and this is one gorgeous cover from Diane Kruger for Vogue Germany’s July 2014 issue.

Captured by Camilla Akrans, who always seems to impress me, Diane Kruger really does make a fairly boring sequinned top and skirt ensemble from Hugo Boss’ autumn/winter 2014 collection, the first designed by Jason Wu look amazing. It just shows what styling, setting and movement can do for a piece of clothing.

I also think the fresh pastel pink colour helps this cover, it really shimmers nicely, and I love the fun pose from Diane and how they’ve made the Vogue letters all quirky. I also have to say her hair slicked back and minimal make-up just add to the charm of this cover.

You might also be thinking that the look seems a little familiar to you, well that will be because Diane wore something very similar to the Met Gala, I really think if her Met Gala dress had been in this cute girlie colour it would have stood out more.

What do you think – are you a fan of Diane Kruger’s latest magazine cover?

Cover Loving: Rihanna For Glamour US

Glamour us nov rihanna Cover Loving: Rihanna For Glamour US %tag

Wow, now this is a whole different side of Rihanna. Gracing the November issue of Glamour US, Rihanna looks gorgeous and girlie showing off her curly cropped hair and striking eyes. Normally the singer is all about sex appeal, but what I love about this cover is how girlie she looks, with a touch of RiRi attitude of course!!!

Wearing a Dior bodysuit, Kenneth Jay Lane hoop earrings and a Lynn Ban cuff, this is one gorgeous cover, but what draws you in though has to be her make-up, from her dramatic eyes to the soft lip colour.

Made-up using products from her own Mac collection, I love the bronze and gold metallic eye shadow and strong eyeliner – it really does make her green eyes pop. With her eyes looking so incredible it looks like the rest of her face is make-up less. Simply gorgeous.

For me this is one captivating cover – are you a fan of RiRi’s latest editorial?

Cover Loving: Jennifer Lawrence Is A Vision For Harper’s Bazaar

harpers bazaar nov jennifer Cover Loving: Jennifer Lawrence Is A Vision For Harpers Bazaar %tag

With the second Hunger Games film hitting cinema screens in less than two months, I’m not surprised to see Jennifer Lawrence on the November issue of UK’s Harper’s Bazaar, and I think we will be seeing a lot more of the Oscar-winning actress before the year is out.

Not that I am complaining as this is another stunning cover of Jennifer, I actually think I prefer it to her recent US Vogue cover. Shot by Ben Hassett, this is the subscriber cover and I adore everything about it – the Dior Couture dress, the OTT rings, and the dramatic red lippy – but why does it look a little over airbrushed, she seriously didn’t need it, and what is she actually leaning her arm on???

I am being uber-picky, this is a gorgeous cover and I even love the phrase that Jennifer is a “reckless beauty” – I can’t wait to see the accompanying editorial and the newsstand cover.

Cover Loving: Carey Mulligan Is Pretty In Pink For Harper’s Bazaar

Carey Mulligan harpers bazaar Cover Loving: Carey Mulligan Is Pretty In Pink For Harpers Bazaar %tag

If you were a little disappointed with Carey Mulligan’s American Vogue cover, and according to my Twitter you were, well I am sure that the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar will more than make up for it.

Shot by Tom Allen, these covers not only showcase Carey’s beauty, but also a touch of her personality, especially the subscriber cover with her laughing, which I am so pleased to see as her other editorials have been so serious.

As well as adoring the blossom background and her subtly but girlie make-up, I am in love with her gorgeous pink Prada coat the floral embellishments are to-die-for!!!

I have to be honest I am not sure when I last picked up a copy of Harper’s Bazaar, much less when I added one to my growing magazine collection **I’m limited to keeping just the very best**, but I can’t wait to pick up this beauty on May 2 as I’m excited to see the accompanying ethereal fashion shoot featuring Erdem and Bottega Veneta.

Do you like Carey’s latest cover? Will you be buying the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar?

Cover Loving: Models Continue To Shine On The September Issues

SeptemberIssueModels Cover Loving: Models Continue To Shine On The September Issues %tag

I love celebrities and I do love seeing celebrities on magazine covers, yep even I have been persuaded to buy a magazine just because my favourite actress is on the cover, but I have to be honest I do love it when models take covers, more so when it is a September issue – as they are the fashion issues of the year.

It seems that this September the supermodels really are taking over and producing some amazing covers. I have already shown you ELLE UK’s gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, well the subscriber cover dropped through my letterbox over the weekend and I am so pleased they showcased her incredible pins!!! Well it seems that more magazines around the world understand the power of a model – Flare, Canada’s biggest fashion magazine has gone for Lindsey Wixson, Vogue UK and Japan both went for Karlie Kloss, Tokyo Numero have the lovely Candice Swanepoel, and Tatler shows that Cindy Crawford can still work it.

One of my favourite covers so far for September has to be Flare’s gold rush with Lindsey Wixson wearing a coat, top and skirt from Prabal Gurung’s autumn/winter 2012 collection, with incredible Laruicci earrings and a super pop of red lippy.

What I love about this cover, other than the obvious – her striking beauty, I still can’t believe that she is only 18-years-old, but that Flare didn’t go for one of the obvious, high-spending advertisers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton or Gucci – it is always refreshing to see, especially with a September issue.

I was expecting a lot from British Vogue, September as they state themselves is ‘Fashion’s Olympic moment’, but for me this vibrant  seventies-inspired look doesn’t quite cut it for me. Shot by Nick Knight, I love the Jonathan Saunders high-waisted gold printed skinny trousers teamed with a clashing printed silk shirt, but I am put off by Karlie’s pose, I am not sure Tara would approve, and I really dislike the orange and pink text – just too much.

I think I am going to have to give it to Vogue Japan, their September issue featuring Karlie in an Yves Saint Laurent chainmail dress is divine. I love the moody feel to this cover, the white background works perfectly with the smoky tones and of course it wouldn’t be Japanese without the text overload. Everything from the styling to the make-up to her pose and the text works on this cover shot by Mikael Jansson.

Special mention has to go to Cindy Crawford, how stunning does she look for Tatler, she really doesn’t age I couldn’t believe that she is 46 – she is giving these younger models a run for their money!!!

Have you been impressed with the September covers so far? Do let me know which ones are your favourites.

Magazine Loving: Marie Claire Runway

Day44 Magazine Loving: Marie Claire Runway %tag

As some of you may know I have been looking for Marie Claire’s Runway magazine since it came out, which was nearly two weeks ago, seriously hard thing to find but at the weekend in a service station this spring/summer 2012 round-up was finally mine!

I have only really done a quick flick but on first glance I feel like it is trying too hard with its collage-effect front cover, which is very similar to ELLE Collections that has been going for a number of seasons. I do however prefer the larger size, it has a bit more impact.

As with all round-ups of course it has the big shows, the play by numbers approach, best invites, and Anna Dello Russo. It does have a few cute features like ‘Dress Up The Duchess’ where you can kit Kate out with paper clothing, and the ‘Fashion Fortune Teller’ that you have to make, which means I am so not doing as I can’t cut into a keeper!!!

My favourite bits about the mag has to be the trends sections, I like the various collages – they really do illustrate the looks well – especially ‘From The Forest’, as well as the interviews with Donatella Versace and Mary Katrantzou, and the cute photo diaries from the likes of Nicholas Kirkwood.

I am not sure how many round-ups I need in my life but I think I will have to give Marie Claire one more go to make it into my permanent collection.

Have you read it yet? Let me know what you think – do you prefer it to ELLE’s one?

Magazine Loving: Elle Collections

Day31 Magazine Loving: Elle Collections %tag

I am big fan of ELLE Collections, I love a round-up of the season’s fashion, and the spring/summer 2012 edition which just went on sale is a beauty. Straight off the mark the magazine cheered me up with its pastel floral explosion on the front cover, which I think works perfectly with Instagram’s 1977 filter.

I have every single ELLE Collection produced and I love that each time there is a new quirky feature – my favourite from SS12 has to be Fashionopoly. Where instead of collecting money you lose two kilos as you pass go, jail has been replaced with ‘go to the back row’, and there is even a square for free champagne – well it is fashion darling!!! Now, how do I get Monopoly to produce this fabulous game??

Also don’t miss Chapter IV, In The Studio – where the ELLE team have interviewed the likes of Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, and Giles Deacon.
