Grammy Awards: Katy Perry In Valentino Couture

The Grammy’s were held last night in Los Angeles and as always I found the red carpet to be a little predictable – metallics, shimmering fabrics, tight, tight and a very tight, and the odd quirky look to showcase the musician on the red carpet.

One star I can generally depend on to wow me has to be Katy Perry, do you remember when she wore that gorgeous sky blue Elie Saab gown in 2012, well last night she was a vision in tulle wearing a stunning Valentino Couture gown that might look a little familiar, yep it is one that I featured on my Couture Bride post last week.

Other that the fact it was fresh off the runway, I love that it seemed to have been made for the Grammy Awards with the embroidered musical notes on the tulle skirt. It is fun, elegant and romantic all at the same time and it really does look like a work of art. Apparently this beautiful gown took 1,600 hours to do all the embroidery – the craftsmanship is sublime.

Not content with just one look from Valentino’s spring couture collection, Katy also looked incredible in a shorter red tulle with a feathered serpent to the after party. As much as I love the red carpet gown, and I do, I think this flirty number is my favourite – I love the rich colour of the dress and the snake motif. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!katy-perry-grammys-valentinoMadonna-ralph-lauren

Another great look I just had to share was Madonna wearing a wide-leg Ralph Lauren tuxedo with a black felt gaucho hat, a sparkly fingerless glove, and a grill, yep if you saw her interview on E! she showed off her mouth jewellery.

If I can forget about the grill, as I hate them, I love, love, love this mannish look from Madonna. I am a huge fan of girlies in suits and this one will be remembered I am sure. Also no-one else works the red carpet like Madonna!!!

Were you a fan of Katy Perry’s and Madonna’s looks at last night’s Grammy Awards?

Truth or Dare: Madonna Looks Stunning In Black Lace

Who: Madonna, no longer just queen of pop, she seems to do everything lately – music, acting, directing, fashion through her Material Girl’s clothing label, and now it seems she wants a piece of the beauty market with her own fragrance

Where: At the launch of her fragrance, Truth or Dare at Macy’s in New York

Wearing: A sheer black lace Dolce & Gabbana dress from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, with three-quarter sleeves worn over a black bodysuit, teamed with her signature cross necklace, and black peep-toe heels

Verdict: Even though it wasn’t surprising that Madonna went with Dolce & Gabbana, what I was surprised and thrilled about was that she went for a mature-yet-sexy feel in this sheer lace accented dress. Known for her racy looks, she could have worn this dress with the bra and pants option that was seen on the runway and show off her midriff, I am so pleased that she resisted.

I have to give it to Madge she does look like she is getting younger and younger, maybe it is her fresh looking make-up, or that her hair is looking spectacular, but I am loving this look.

What do you think – does Madonna look good?

Superbowl: Madonna In Givenchy Haute Couture

Madonna really knows how to make an entrance, I absolutely loved her halftime show at the Super Bowl XLVI match between the New York Giants and The Patriots last night. From the word go with her coming on flanked by dancers dressed as gladiators, to the fab performance of ‘Vogue’ – and her amazing wardrobe created exclusively for her by Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci – this was a spectacular 12 minute set.

As well as ‘Vogue’, Madonna also delved into her massive archive and sang some of her other hits including ‘Music’ and ‘Like a Prayer’, as well as her new song ‘Give Me All Your Lurvin’, which I have to say isn’t growing on me – yet.

Some people on Twitter were saying that she looked tired and didn’t move great – come on people let’s not forget she is 53-years-old – I thought she worked the performance really well – especially loved her shuffling with LMFAO.

My favourite of the Givenchy Haute Couture looks by Riccardo Tisci had to be the hand-embroidered gold cape that Madonna wore for the performance opener, which was worn over a black mini dress accessories with a hand-studded belt and an exquisite Philip Treacy headpiece.

I also adored this gorgeous embellished black coat with sequins and micro pearls for her divine performance of ‘Like A Prayer’.

What did you think of Madonna’s first performance at the Superbowl?

Hot, Hot, Hot: Madonna Wearing Markus Lupfer

The world has gone a little Madge crazy of late, it does seem to cycle around every couple of years, all the latest buzz has been about her new film, W.E. but now it seems the focus is back to her music, oh and her fab styling. For 2012, Madonna is releasing her 12th studio album titled M.D.N.A, cleverly named for the hashtag cool kids, and the first single is Give Me All Your Luvin’ featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A..

My post though isn’t about her new music, which I am sure is going to be mega, especially with the music video being football and cheerleader theme – inspired by her up-coming Super Bowl appearance apparently. My focus has been completely taken over by the fact that the Queen of Pop has chosen to wear the amazing ‘intarsia star’ jumper from British designer Markus Lupfer’s spring/summer 2012 collection on the cover of her new single.

As well as it being a great jumper,  I so want it, I also love how amazing Madonna looks in the shots taken by Mert & Marcus – sexy, sultry and extremely youthful – oh and of course she’s making a stand that she is the only real musical ‘star’ around. Madge is one hot 53 year-old!!!

Do check out the music video as even Barbie has a starring role – granted only as Nicki Minaj’s bling necklace – but still very cool.
