Editorial Loving: Nicole Kidman For Vogue Germany

Vogue-Nicole-Kidman-1I know that everyone has already moved on to the September issues but I have only just picked up the August cover of Vogue Germany, which was an homage to Nicole Kidman. The Australian actress didn’t just get two gorgeous covers, but also three incredible editorials inside that really shows off her model potential and various personalities.

We have the whimsical editorial shot by Camilla Akrans that shows Nicole wearing Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry Prorsum, Louis Vuitton and Valentino in a gorgeous outdoor setting. I just love how Camilla has shot this editorial, the soft lighting and the fuzziness to the images makes it romantic and magical and Nicole looks absolutely gorgeous styled by Nicole Knels and I love the loose curls in her hair.

Then we have the high-fashion editorial shot by Patrick Demarchelier, this is a powerful spread that unleashes Nicole’s inner femme fatale and I love that the majority of the editorial is in black and white as it really suits the dramatic pieces by Rodarte, Yohji Yamamoto, Alexander McQueen, Prada and Haider Ackermann – plus did you spot that incredible studded Chanel glove?

For the final spread, Nicole gets sexy with the help of her pal, designer and stylist L’Wren Scott, who styled her in a check shirt and bra, while she frolicked in a field in a gorgeous editorial shot by Bruce Webber.

I don’t think we see enough of Nicole Kidman in magazines and after seeing these gorgeous but very different editorials I don’t understand why. There has been a transformation of the past few years with Nicole – not just in her editorials but also her red carpet looks and I am loving seeing her be a little more daring with fashion – she is so stunning.

Which editorial do you like the best? I think Camilla Akrans gets my vote as I just love the lighting, the setting and how beautiful Nicole looks.

Johnnie Walker Blue Final: Christina Hendricks In L’Wren Scott

Who: Christina Hendricks

Where: At the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultimate Game Changer Experience during the Diageo Reserve World Class 2012 Global Final in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Wearing: A black figure hugging L’Wren Scott dress that falls just below-the-knee, paired with black peep-toe heels and vintage jewellery

Verdict: I wasn’t sure whether to include this look, I generally only like to feature celebrity looks that really jump out at me, and this look from Christina just looking like her Mad Men character Joan is a little bland.

Don’t get me wrong, Christina wears it well, her body and boobs look incredible in this dress but I would have loved to have seen her move away from the Mad Men costume wardrobe.

Do you like Christina’s homage to Joan?

83rd Oscars: Penelope Cruz Sizzles in L’Wren Scott

Who: Actress Penelope Cruz supporting her husband Spanish actor Javier Bardem, who is a best actor nominee for his role in Biutiful

Where: At the 83rd Academy Awards in Hollywood

Wearing: A red silk L’Wren Scott with hand-embroidered sequins

Verdict: I just don’t believe that Penelope has just had a baby, she looks fantastic in this form-fitting sequinned beauty. I am so glad that she came tonight as I have certainly missed her this award season. I also love that she kept her hair down, I love it when it is sleek straight. Penelope certainly gets the award for hot momma with this amazing gown.

Spirit Awards: Nicole Kidman Wears L’Wren Scott

Who: Nicole Kidman

Where: At the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards hosted by Jameson Irish Whiskey at Santa Monica Beach

Wearing: A red lace L’Wren Scott dress which falls just below-the-knee, teamed with red and white pointed heels

Verdict: Red seemed to be everywhere during London Fashion Week’s autumn/winter 2011 shows, and this red lace dress looks perfect on Nicole. L’Wren Scott is one of her go-to-designers, and for a good reason, as she really does make gorgeous dresses which suit her tall frame perfectly.

What I love about Nicole Kidman is her elegance, she really does wear her outfits with such poise and where all the younger stars opted for flirty cocktail dresses, she worked her chic understated style perfectly.

Where: At the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards in Hollywood, California

Wearing: A sequinned peach and gold L’Wren Scott from the spring/summer 2011 collection teamed with nude Jimmy Choo strappy heels and a gold box clutch

Verdict: I love this body-con dress, the sequins are gorgeous I love the ombre colour bleeding from the peach to the gold, and I like the fact that the dress falls just below her knee, it kind of adds an extra elegance to an obviously sexy dress. Once again Jennifer doesn’t disappoint me.

Cover Loving: Nina Dobrev Stunning On a Bed Of Peonies

Pic: Flare - February 2011

Before I gush too much I have to confess: One, I love Vampire Diaries *addicted in fact* and two, I wish I was Nina Dobrev *stunning with hair to-die-for*. OK with that disclaimer out of the way, I love this February 2011 cover of Canadian fashion magazine Flare.

Shot by Chris Nicholls, the lovely Nina Dobrev looks amazing wearing a L’Wren Scott sequinned dress, on a bed of Peonies, which according to the mags Editor Lisa Tant on Twitter cost a whopping $1,000+. I think you will all have to agree that was money well spent.

Part of me thinks this cover looks like a great hair commercial, I am sure that L’Oreal are already considering her as their next ambassador, but I absoultley love the colours – the pinks and yellows look amazing in contrast to her porclein skintone.

I love it, and wish I could see this cover in person *sadly Flare is not stocked in the UK*, what do you guys think?
