Who: Lupita Nyong’o
Where: At the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California
Wearing: A purple and white Giambattista Valli couture gown from the autumn/winter 2014 collection, teamed with Chopard jewellery
Verdict: Lupita Nyong’o was one of the best red carpet stars last award season and I love that she has kicked off 2015 in the same spirit. Unlike most stars who opted for red, yellow, white or silver, it seems that Lupita didn’t get that memo and went for something more dramatic with this floral-like couture gown.
Not only was the colour a statement, I love that shade of purple against her skin tone, but I love the flower-like qualities of the dress, it is like the bodice is embellished with petals, as well as the movement of the chiffon skirt.
This gown is like a work of art and I think Lupita showed it off beautifully with matching lavender make-up and a short afro hair-do.
I am so pleased that Lupita Nyong’o is gracing her first Vogue cover, she really did make the 2014 award season *do you remember her white Calvin Klein gown*, and I am even more pleased that it is a great cover.
Shot by Mikael Jansson, Lupita looks incredible in this Marrakech photoshoot wearing vibrant designs by Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Vera Wang, Jonathan Saunders, Givenchy and Prada that gorgeous red and purple print dress looks insane on her.
I think one of my favourite shots has to be where Lupita is reclining against a red velvet couch wearing a printed Rodarte gown, I love that the prints are so similar that her beauty really becomes the focal point of the picture, and I think the gorgeous Moroccan setting was just genius. So beautiful.
I think this will be the first of many major covers for Lupita and I can’t wait to see what else this gorgeous actress has to share.
Are you pleased that Lupita has scored her first Vogue cover?

Who: Lupita Nyong’o
Where: At the Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2014 in West Hollywood, California
Wearing: A seafoam green Miu Miu belted silk gown with green beaded fringe along the neckline, teamed with matching peep-toe heels and the same Fred Leighton headband from the main event, oh and carrying her Oscar statue
Verdict: I loved the pale blue Prada gown and it was perfect for Lupita to float up the stairs to collect her Best Supporting Actress Oscar, but this cute column gown was the fun party frock that the Vanity Fair party needs and kind of reminds me of the change Jennifer Lawrence made last year in its silhouette.
I love the green beading on the bodice, it really does make this dress shine, and I love that she kept that cute Fred Leighton headband on – it was such a hit on the Oscars red carpet.
Which look do you prefer – her blue Prada gown or this Miu Miu beauty?
Who: Best Supporting Actress winner Lupita Nyong’o
Where: At the 86th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, California
Wearing: A custom cornflower blue silk georgette pleated Prada gown featuring a deep V-neck top to the front and back, teamed with gold and diamond jewellery from Fred Leighton including a headband, earrings and bracelet
Verdict: Lupita really has been a breath of fresh air this award season, each red carpet I have been excited to see what she wears as she mixes up her designers, silhouettes and isn’t afraid to wear colour.
This for me was easily one of my best dressed looks – not only was the colour perfection, which she said reminded her of Nairobi her home, but I loved how the crystal embellishments on the skirt sparkled when it hit the light, especially when she went up to collection her well deserved award for her role in 12 Years A Slave.
It was also youthful, fun, and modern, as well as being fashion-forward and appropriate for the Oscars red carpet – Miucca really did well.
As well as loving the gown I also adored how the actress styled up the look with her gold jewellery including a delicate diamond headband and gorgeous ear cuff.
I love everything about this look from head-to-toe and I am so pleased that she won her speech was moving and emotional I loved that she ended it with “no matter where you’re from your dreams are valid”.
Was Lupita one of your best dressed of the night?[Pics: facebook.com/Prada]
This year the EE British Academy Film Awards fell in the middle of London Fashion Week so I felt like I kind of missed the whole excitement of the red carpet, seeing it back in pictures is just not the same, especially when it seems to have produced the best fashion in a number of years.
It was sad that both Jennifer Lawrence and Sandra Bullock didn’t attend, I would have loved to see what they would have worn, but I was glad to see that ’12 Years A Slave” actress Lupita Nyong’o was once again on top form in this stunning emerald-green silk Christian Dior haute couture strapless gown from the autumn/winter 2013 collection.
Everything about this gown was beautifully and was easily my best dressed gown of the night and it was nice to see that Lupita really did come to London to impress. I loved it all from the jewel colour to the metallic belt and arm cuffs to the dramatic train – simply gorgeous. I really couldn’t have asked for more from her and seeing this gown has made me excited to see what she wears for the Oscars.
Another look that caught my eye was Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in near-identical outfits. Not quite as cool as Madonna and her son at the Grammy’s, but I love Angie in this menswear-inspired look from Saint Laurent – it is so chic and sophisticated.
What makes this look great is the styling, I love that she wore her white shirt slightly unbuttoned to add a causal vibe to the look, which looked perfect with the untied black bow tie. Finishing off this look were those black Saint Laurent heels – the patent shine really worked with the tuxedo-stripe to the trousers. Another great look for my women in suits Pinterest board!!!
I really think that Angelina pull off this tuxedo better than Brad Pitt in his Valentino – what do you think?
