Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness – Autumn/Winter 2013

AW13 lulu guinness 28 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of checking out Lulu Guinness‘ autumn/winter 2013 collection, which is divine, a colour blocking mix of black, white and red, with a splash of emerald-green and animal print, a glittering of stars, and a new ‘Marcel Wave’ doll face, which kind of has a Betty Boo meets burlesque vibe about it with the large fluttering eyelashes. As you can probably guess I was in heaven!!!

Of course I adored the doll face designs, I have my eye on the coin purse as it is so cute, but the collection which caught my attention the most had to be the ‘Wild Cat’ with its striking animal print and green eyes – that ‘Lily’ tote has worked its way up to the top of my wish-list.

Another favourite of mine had to be the monochrome ‘Chevron Natalia’ clutch, I really am a sucker for any Art Deco inspired, and this clutch will instantly add a touch of glamour to any look. Plus a girl can’t have too many clutches right???!!!???AW13 lulu guinness 32 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tagAW13 lulu guinness 22 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tagAW13 lulu guinness 11 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag AW13 lulu guinness 6 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag AW13 lulu guinness 7 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag AW13 lulu guinness 4 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag AW13 lulu guinness 1 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag AW13 lulu guinness 13 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag AW13 lulu guinness 10 Bag Loving: Lulu Guinness Autumn/Winter 2013 %tag

My Style: The Kooky Cat

my style lulu guinness 3 My Style: The Kooky Cat %tag

I like black, I like colour too, but black has to me go-to wardrobe staple, I think it is because in my head it is slimming, and to be honest I need all the help I can get. But to jazz up an all-black look I like to either add bright accessories, normally a bracelet stack, a colour-pop handbag, or in this case a quirky top.

I have already shared my love for Lulu Guinness’ collaboration with Uniqlo a number of times, and I have to say that this second collection is better than the first and it is all to-do with the summer-feeling sleeveless tops. My favourite being the updated Kooky Cat, you might remember the grey t-shirt version last year, well this is the revamped style featuring a cute dotty Peter Pan collar.

my style lulu guinness 2 My Style: The Kooky Cat %tag When the weather is warmer I plan on wearing this without the cardigan, but to be honest even though the sun is shining at the moment it is still pretty chilly, but it works perfectly teamed with my Topshop skater skirt and ankle boots. I really think that this a versatile piece, you could pair with slouchy jeans and wedges, a denim skirt and kitty flats, or how about just showing off that fab collar under a bright jumper – there is so much you can do with this top and priced at only £12.90 it really is a bargain.

My Style: When Hudson Met Lulu

st albans my style 1 My Style: When Hudson Met Lulu %tag

This weekend actually felt like spring, it was sunny, it was warm, and it meant that I could finally wear something that wasn’t layered up – cue the crop jeans, the statement tee and a colourful pair of trainers!!!

A couple of years ago I am not so sure I would have got my ankles out for a pair of jeans, that was because I hadn’t been introduced to the boyfriend style of denim, since I got my Gap pair I have been a little obsessed in finding a pair that was a little longer in length that would be perfect with trainers, and then Jeanography came along and recommend these Hudson Jeans and I think I can safely say they are going to be my spring/summer staple.

As we had friends over this weekend we took full advantage of the sunny weather and took in the sights, shops, and gorgeous parks of St Albans, a market town that I haven’t been to in a while and it is so pretty. As we were doing a bit of walking around I decided to wear my new Onitsuka Tiger trainers, so, so comfortable and I am in love with the gorgeous pink colour, which works so well with blue denim.

To complete my look of first time wears, which wasn’t intentional I just realised while writing this post, was my Lulu Guinness for Uniqlo doll face tee. You may remember I was a big fan of Lulu’s first collaboration with the Japanese fashion brand, I have the Kooky Cat and the original doll face, so when the collection came out earlier this month I couldn’t resist updating my wardrobe with the new style and at under £15 this tee is a bargain.

If the sunny weather keeps up like this I think you will be seeing a lot more of these jeans, these shoes and an array of statement tees!!!

Do you have a go-to sunny Sunday afternoon attire?

Red Nose Day 2013

red nose day marilyn Red Nose Day 2013 %tag

If you haven't already guessed today is Red Nose Day, a charity that not only does such great work here in the UK but also in Africa, and this year is the 25th anniversary of the big red nose!!! As well as making me feeling a little old, I remember the very first one, I thought I would do my bit and style up my new Stella McCartney for Red Nose Day t-shirt, wear a silly red nose and share all the goodies I picked up off the high street.

I first have to apologise for the quality of my style piccies, normally I like to have someone take them, because basically I am rubbish with using the tripod – I think the majority had me looking away, blurred and a few even cut my head off the picture – but I really wanted to share today so I have tried my best to show off the t-shirt as I love it.

my style red nose day 2 Red Nose Day 2013 %tag

Each year the charity produces some amazing goodies and basically there is something for everyone and each piece of Red Nose Day merchandise raises money for the charity.

So why not pick up this year's red nose designs at Sainsbury's for £1 – there are three to collect: T-Spex, Triceytops and Dinomite – I am not sure which one mine is I just loved its cute grin. The supermarket is also selling everything from mugs, bubbles, wristbands, air fresheners, and the cutest Red Nose Day Dino Roar cuddle toy, which when squeezed makes the most hilarious sounds and I just adore it.

Then there are the fashion bits, how about a Stella McCartney designed t-shirt? I picked up the fun Marilyn one at my local TK Maxx for £14.99, not only is it cute, but at least £8 of the price goes to Comic Relief – I even matched my glasses so Marilyn and I could be BFFs!!!

Finishing off my goodies is from one of my favourite designers, Lulu Guinness who has teamed up with Sainbury's on three limited edition totes. I have the Kooky Kat tote thanks to my mum and I am still on the look out for the Dolls Face one but at £5 a pop these beauties literally flew off the shelves.

So you've bought the t-shirt, the nose, the roaring dino, the tote and the pin badge what's left? Well as a treat for being so good buy yourself some Maltesers as for ever special Red Nose Day pack the chocolate brand is donating money to the charity!!!

LFW SS13: Day 4 – A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink…Again

topshop LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tagDay 4 of London Fashion Week is generally about the big hitters Burberry and Erdem, unless like me you sadly don’t have tickets, one day here’s hoping. For me today was all about heading over to the Topshop venue on Bedford Square for the first time this fashion week, Barbie hitting the catwalk, seeing Mark Fast’s latest offering, as well as dropping in on the bloggers hangout The Apartment for a Forever 21 styling session.

First up Louise Gray at the Topshop venue and Barbie’s latest appearance at London Fashion Week, last year was Sister by Sibling but I was really excited to see the Louise’s three designs inspired by my favourite doll. My excitement for the show did sour slightly with the fact I nearly didn’t get in, sadly I only had a standing ticket and they said it was too crowded to let me in, thankfully I squeezed into the tent as the last minute. It does disappointment me that for a show that was sponsored by Barbie that they didn’t do more to support fashion blogs like mine that love Barbie, come on it is in my blog name!

But enough about that, back to the collection, I love how Louise Gray brings the fun to fashion. I love the energy and attitude of Louise’s shows, the soundtrack was incredible, and I loved the graffiti, doodles, and newsprint-esq prints on the shift dresses and tailored pieces. What stood out the most, other than the fab three Barbie-inspired pieces had to be the accessories – everything from the mirror-effect headgear, designed by milliner, Stephen Jones, to the Tatty Devine made jewellery, and the make-up was crazy finishing touch with cartoon crown’s pencilled over the top of the eyebrows and matte orange lips.

From Bedford Square I then stupidly along with Alex and Briony jumped on the press bus to Burberry, the furthest London Fashion Week venue, for some reason this fashion week I have been making some very rookie mistakes. To be honest though I kind of enjoy my bus trip through London!

Every day there has been something different at The Apartment today was Forever 21′s turn, they brought the specially curated Abi Marvel collection, which you must look out for in the Oxford Circus store, plus stacks of jewellery, sweets and their new shoe collections.

markfast LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

Then thanks to Get Taxi I got to Mark Fast in plenty of time. Mark Fast is always an intriguing show, whether it is to see the plus-size models or to see what else he can craft in knit, or to see who is on the front row – last season it was Kanye West, sadly we all had to make do with Kelly Brooke who is doing the rounds this LFW.

To the soundtrack of Salt n Pepper, Mark Fast’s ‘Broke’ collection sent down model after model all sporting the same afro hairstyle and hip hop swagger. Of course there was lots of figure-hugging knitwear, micro skirts, and lots and lots of fringing. Obviously Mark Fast is saying if it isn’t broken don’t fix it!!!

Tedbaker LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

My final stop of the day was the Handpicked Media suite to see the Ted Baker girlies, I love their autumn/winter 2012 collection so it was lovely to take a peak at my favourite pieces, but what I loved most was the Hunger Games-inspired display – very Katniss with the bow and arrow!!!

Day4Mystyle1 LFW SS13: Day 4 A Barbie Makeover, Mark Fast Goes Ghetto, and I Opt For A Flash Of Pink...Again %tag

To my look, well I went for a girlie vibe today as Barbie was in town, so I decided to team my Lulu Guinness for Uniqlo tee with my pleated black skirt, new Topshop boots, which simply go with everything, and I couldn’t resist a flash of pink with my Cambridge Satchel Company bag.

Disney Love: Minnie Mouse Is Coming To LFW

GilesMinnie Disney Love: Minnie Mouse Is Coming To LFW %tag

Last season Barbie came to London Fashion Week thanks to her collaboration with Sister by Sibling well it seems for spring/summer 2013 the hot trend is sure to be Minnie Mouse ears and polka dots as some of the hottest designers around have teamed up with the Disney’s most famous style icon, Minnie Mouse.

Minnie is one lucky cartoon character, she has a range of nail varnishes with OPI and Mawi created a range of jewellery inspired by her iconic silhouette, and come September she is set to get her own fashion collection designed by the likes of Giles Deacon (above), Richard Nicoll and Michael Van Der Ham, which Disney is calling ‘Minnie Mouse Must Haves’, one-off garments and accessories that will be presented during London Fashion Week.

Each designer has taken Minnie Mouse as their inspiration, so think lots of signature bows, her trademark polka dots, pops of red, as well as her iconic ears. Other designers taking part include Piers Atkinson, Bunney, Husam el Odeh in collaboration with Luke Hersheson, Katie Hillier, Lulu Guinness, Tatty Devine and Terry de Havilland. Plus there will be an “extraordinary collaboration” with Meadham Kirchhoff, the design duo known for their quirky catwalk shows – oh my I simply can not wait!!!!

All the sketches are gorgeous and have made me excited to see them in person, but I think I have to give it to Richard Nicoll and Michael Van Der Ham, their designs are whimsical and gorgeous. I am loving Nicoll’s statement ‘Minnie’ ear shoulders and the comic-book strip design, but I am a sucker for a sequinned Minnie silhouette and this one from Van Der Ham looks divine and I love that he went for black and gold rather than the traditional red. I am also glad to see Lulu Guinness designing a one-off bag and I can’t wait to see Terry de Havilland’s Minnie shoes.

MvdHamMinnie Disney Love: Minnie Mouse Is Coming To LFW %taglulutattyminnie Disney Love: Minnie Mouse Is Coming To LFW %tag

Following the ‘Inspired by Minnie Mouse’ showcase, each of the ‘Minnie Mouse Must Haves’ will be available at an exclusive eBay auction, so if your bid is the highest you could come away with a fab one-off Minnie Mouse-inspired creation. Proceeds from the auction will be donated by Disney to support the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation, a British Fashion Council initiative.

Roll on London Fashion Week…not long to go now!!!

Shopping: The Superheroes Edition

LazyOafBatman Shopping: The Superheroes Edition %tagBatman and Spider-Man have not only taken blockbuster success this summer at the cinema, but it seems that fashion has taken note and been inspired, as comic book and pop art-inspired pieces have started hitting the shops.

For me it all began with 3.1 Phillip Lim’s stunning pre-fall 2012 collection filled with graphic prints, including that incredible Break Up PVC pouch that has caught ever fashion editor’s attention. From there Lazy Oaf designed a batman collection, Zoe Karssen added some bat-appeal to her t-shirts, and even the king of fun jumpers Markus Lupfer added comic book lingo to his uber-cool signature sparkles, and it seems everyone has produced a cat ear headband in honour of our favourite female superhero/villian, Catwoman.

There are so many cool comic book pieces that it was hard to choose just 15, but I have brought you my favourites below:
