Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 – Day 4

LFW Day 4 My style 9 Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 4 %tag

An early start on a Monday after three long days is hard, but made all the more easier by knowing that there would be embellished goodness hitting the catwalk for Mother of Pearl, plus the Claridge’s setting isn’t a bad start to any morning.

But as it was early and a little chilly I went for my new Foggy London Rizzo Ida jeans by Donna Ida, I am a huge fan of her denim, I do believe that all jeans should be high-waisted, super flattering and with enough stretch to make them uber-comfortable. I have to be honest I think today’s look is my favourite, the most me, I loved the polka-dot co-ords but the combination of black, grey and a touch of red is just so what I love to wear.

It was also a day where I got to hang out with one of my favourite bloggers, who I am so pleased is my friend, Briony from A Girl, A Style, it was just so nice to take some time away from fashion week to just catch-up. Sometimes fashion week can be a little too full on and I am glad that this season I have realised that I can’t do it all.

LFW Mother of Pearl 3 Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 4 %tag

Back to the fashion, Mother of Pearl for spring/summer 2015 is just gorgeous, inspired by the 60’s singer Sandie Shaw and her over-the-top embellished stage wear, as well as the ‘Kitchen Sink Dramas’ of the same era that brought about the silhouettes, colours, textures and prints. On top of all that goodness was a sporty aesthetic that really created a modern, relaxed and contemporary collection.

I promise I am going to bring you more from this gorgeous collection, I just didn’t have time to edit the crazy amount of pics I snapped, but here are some of my favourite looks, showing off the exquisitely crafted 3D embellishments, which were seen on dresses, two-pieces and even the oversized clutches, that I just adored.

I also really loved the juxtaposition of the jewelled creations paired with sporty looks, the pale pink hoodie with 3D embellishments on was amazing, and paired over a tennis-style dress was just perfection, I kind of wanted the whole outfit from top-to-toe.

I promise that I will share more pictures from the collection very soon.

Also at the Mother of Pearl presentation I came across the very handsome Sergio, The Outnet’s shoe hunter, who was accompanied by a very dashing model. I don’t know who was cuter, but I love that they had matching bow-ties on. A collective arhhh did go around the show space when they both walked in.

LFW David Longshaw 1 Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 4 %tag

From one great London hotel to another, I went from old school at Claridges to modern chic at the ME London where the incredibly talented illustrator and designer David Longshaw was live illustrating onto a dress from his collection in the lobby. I admire illustrators a lot, more so when they have to do it on display and have people watch you, but the pressure of doing it directly onto a dress from the collection must have been crazy. But I think you have to agree it looks amazing – check out the Instagram video before that I snapped while I was watching him work.

Finally, my day 4 outfit, as I said one of my favourite looks, even though the sweatshirt I am wearing tomorrow is pretty cool. I think the thing that makes this look very ‘me’ has to be the colour combination, I do love black with grey, the denim jeans fit perfectly and boost my confidence knowing that I went down a few dress sizes, and I really love the slouchy vibe of this Quiz waterfall cardigan/jacket with lace sleeves.

In fashion week standards I get that this look is tame, but why is that fashion week means you can’t feel yourself, why do you have to opt for the extremes, sometimes I just want to wear a great pair of jeans, a comfortable pair of shoes, and finish off my look with a rucksack-come-handbag that fits all my fashion week essentials in, yep a day without having to take a canvas tote bag is a great day.

To complete my look I went for a waterfall braid from the Blow Ltd team at The Apartment, which I think might be my favourite so far, and means I am running out of options for what I want my hair to look like tomorrow.

Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 – Day 1

LFW Press Pass Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 1 %tagLondon Fashion Week is upon us everyone, this means I will be frantically running to shows, hailing cabs, wearing fancier clothes, catching up with pals, and being amazed by the gorgeous fashion collections. Day 1 has been a long one but a good one, probably one of the best day 1’s I have had in a long time, which I think has a lot to do with how much I loved the dreamy, romantic and exquisitely crafted Bora Aksu collection.

LFW SS15 Bora Aksu 3 Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 1 %tag

Bora Aksu is always a highlight of LFW for me, and I promise to share and gush more about the ‘A Dancer With Wings’ collection, but I just had to share these few snaps of the Bora Aksu army, the incredible handmade embroideries and crochet detailing on the romantic pieces, and the designer’s first eyewear collection in collaboration with TD Tom Davies, LOVE!!!

What I always love about Bora is the attention to detail and the 3D appliques really did add a luxurious texture to the entire collection that was filled with such gorgeous playful dresses, I basically want them all.

Next up was a trip to The Apartment, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary, and of course it is bigger and better and that is just the lunch. This season they have teamed up with the Gourmet Burger Kitchen and it was so nice to take a break from shows to sit down and eat a meal with friends, catch up and have a giggle, and it really helped that the food was delicious.

Then it was time for a quick photoshoot to snap today’s outfit, my bargain Zara swishy leather skirt, I think it is more pleather than leather but it is a goodie and only costs £34.99, and I thought it looked perfect with this cute Red Valentino top with its back bow detailing, which was highlighted perfectly with my messy bun done by the fast beauty team, Blow Ltd, who really are my LFW rescuers.

Then it was off to see Fyodor Golan at The Vaults near Waterloo, the collection was an explosion of colour, and full on energy, inspired by conceptual artists Lucio Fontana and Robert Morris. It was great to see, but sadly my crappy standing position meant I have no decent photos to share, just a little Instagram video of the finale.

A very strong Fyodor Golan collection – loved the 3D embellishments and laser cut detailing #LFW

LFW SS15 Paul Costelloe 1 Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 1 %tag

Next up was Paul Costelloe, who was making his return to LFW after a few seasons off, sadly I missed the catwalk show due to the over running Fyodor Golan show but I did get to see the models showing off the collection at the presentations, which is probably better as you get to see the clothes up close.

The SS15 line is fun and playful, filled with babydoll vibes with empire line dresses in cocoon silhouettes, which really were adorable in mint greens, floral jacquards and navy blues. I also think this show has to take the award for best hair of the day – those beehives are amazing.

LFW SS15 CRaeburn 2 Fashion Week Diary: LFW SS15 Day 1 %tag

Last show of the day was Christopher Raeburn, who is always a highlight of Day 1 and his SS15 collection didn’t disappoint as it was stunning. The backpack still reigns, but it is prettier this season with marble-effect colour prints, which were simply beautiful. My favourite item had to be this multi-coloured parka, I really love the swirling print, which I am going to call fashion camo, and I am sure I am not the only one who wants to wear it.

Day 1 done, shattered but excited about tomorrow as I have lots on the schedule including Orla Kiely, Markus Lupfer, Holly Fulton and House of Holland.

My Style: Pretty In Pink

My style next lace dress 6 My Style: Pretty In Pink %tag

A couple of weeks ago the lovely girlies at Next invited me and a few of their favourite bloggers to see The Bodyguard for a girl’s night out and I wore this beauty of a pink lace dress. I was having so much fun, munching at STK London, catching up with my friends and then singing along to Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, boy can Alexandra Burke sing, that I totally forgot to get an outfit post. A crime I know for a fashion blogger!!!

What I love about this beauty of a dress is that it can be dressed up or down and it still looks so pretty, I think it is because the silhouette is so flattering and the lace is delicate and fun. To see The Bodyguard, I dressed it up with a statement necklace, a cute clutch and strappy black heels, but I love that it works just as well teamed with pumps for a day wandering around Cambridge.

I think the reason this dress works for a Sunday walk after brunch is the accessories, a pop of blue just works perfectly with this pretty pale pink hue. I love that it adds a touch of fun, which means that the addition of the denim pumps don’t seem too casual. Plus I love any reason to wear my new blue mini Links of London friendship bracelet that Paulie got me for my birthday, it works perfectly with my Shore Projects watch.

Do you have a summer dress that you love to dress up and down?

Wimbledon: Surely This Is The Only Bag To Carry To The Tennis

KateSpade Wimbledon: Surely This Is The Only Bag To Carry To The Tennis %tag

If like me you love this time of year with all the strawberries and cream, the pleated skirts, the outrageous tennis attire, I am talking about you Serena Williams, the smart Ralph Lauren outfits that the umpire and line judges wear, and even a spot of Rafa Nadal ogling – then I am sure you’re already glued to the TV watching the tennis at Wimbledon.

Well, as well as watching the TV, doing my work and my blog, I was also browsing the Kate Spade New York sale, as you do, and I came across what I can only describe as the most perfect accessory to carry to Wimbledon.

Seriously, could this faux grass Kate Spade New York Hold Court Quinn be any more perfect. I have to be honest Kate Spade is starting to become my go-to designer for cute and quirky, and I think this beauty at $111 down from $298 might be the perfect companion to my Armadillo bag!!!

But seeing this beauty got me thinking if this is the perfect bag for Wimbledon what other tennis-inspired pieces are out there? See below what I found – from a dress like Maria Sharapova’s to adorable jewellery, something to munch on, and even a sheer white tennis shade for your nails.

SYTYCD’s Cat Deeley Links New Role

Pic: Links of London

The gorgeous, very stylish and my favourite TV presenter since her days on SMTV, Cat Deeley, has been unveiled as the Global Brand Ambassador for jewellers Links of London.

I can totally understand why – you just have to look at these images to realise that she is a stunning face to front an ad campaign. I also think her popularity in America because of So You Think You Can Dance helps as they are obviously trying to target USA as well.

Creative Director, Elizabeth Galton, said: “We selected Cat for her beauty and fresh London feel – something that embodies the essence of the Links of London brand.”

One thing that does puzzle me is I thought she had her own vintage jewellery line in America with QVC – is there not a conflict? Or maybe there was no plans to do it again – anyhow good choice marketing peeps everyone likes Miss Deeley.
