Cover Loving: Models Continue To Shine On The September Issues

I love celebrities and I do love seeing celebrities on magazine covers, yep even I have been persuaded to buy a magazine just because my favourite actress is on the cover, but I have to be honest I do love it when models take covers, more so when it is a September issue – as they are the fashion issues of the year.

It seems that this September the supermodels really are taking over and producing some amazing covers. I have already shown you ELLE UK’s gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, well the subscriber cover dropped through my letterbox over the weekend and I am so pleased they showcased her incredible pins!!! Well it seems that more magazines around the world understand the power of a model – Flare, Canada’s biggest fashion magazine has gone for Lindsey Wixson, Vogue UK and Japan both went for Karlie Kloss, Tokyo Numero have the lovely Candice Swanepoel, and Tatler shows that Cindy Crawford can still work it.

One of my favourite covers so far for September has to be Flare’s gold rush with Lindsey Wixson wearing a coat, top and skirt from Prabal Gurung’s autumn/winter 2012 collection, with incredible Laruicci earrings and a super pop of red lippy.

What I love about this cover, other than the obvious – her striking beauty, I still can’t believe that she is only 18-years-old, but that Flare didn’t go for one of the obvious, high-spending advertisers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton or Gucci – it is always refreshing to see, especially with a September issue.

I was expecting a lot from British Vogue, September as they state themselves is ‘Fashion’s Olympic moment’, but for me this vibrant  seventies-inspired look doesn’t quite cut it for me. Shot by Nick Knight, I love the Jonathan Saunders high-waisted gold printed skinny trousers teamed with a clashing printed silk shirt, but I am put off by Karlie’s pose, I am not sure Tara would approve, and I really dislike the orange and pink text – just too much.

I think I am going to have to give it to Vogue Japan, their September issue featuring Karlie in an Yves Saint Laurent chainmail dress is divine. I love the moody feel to this cover, the white background works perfectly with the smoky tones and of course it wouldn’t be Japanese without the text overload. Everything from the styling to the make-up to her pose and the text works on this cover shot by Mikael Jansson.

Special mention has to go to Cindy Crawford, how stunning does she look for Tatler, she really doesn’t age I couldn’t believe that she is 46 – she is giving these younger models a run for their money!!!

Have you been impressed with the September covers so far? Do let me know which ones are your favourites.

AW12 Campaign: The Mulberry Forest Fairytale

AW12Mulberry4 AW12 Campaign: The Mulberry Forest Fairytale %tag

There is always something magical about Mulberry’s vision, whether it is for a celeb-studded party, a catwalk show, or a retail window display, the British brand under the helm of Emma Hill seems to just push the limit every season. For autumn/winter 2012, it seems that the Mulberry has captured the magic of the collection, which was inspired by the fantastical ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ perfectly with the help of its two giant furry beasts with claws to appear alongside model Lindsey Wixson.

Shot by Tim Walker in Blackheath Forest in Surrey, which I so need to visit doesn’t it look magical, I love that it has a Brother’s Grim meets Big Foot vibe about it that works perfectly against the gorgeous tailored, layered and textured collection. The lace and the tweed seriously pops against the trees and the claws.

All the shots are incredible, as are the bags I love them all from the Del Rey in Ostrich in the top shot to the  gorgeous embellished Alexa bag *second to last* and the divine new tweed Lily Shoulder with Chain Handle in the final image.

But  my favourite shot has to be Lindsay in orange or should I say flame as Mulberry have called it, she looks insane in that lace top and flared skirt, plus her arm candy is the new Maisie, I have to admit I did swoon slightly at the sight of this bag so wish I could add this to my collection of bags!!!

One thing I have to ask though – does the forest fairytale top the seaside shoot from spring/summer 2012?

Last week I shared with you a few scans of the spring/summer 2012 Mulberry campaign that I took from a few magazines, well today Mulberry released the full campaign and OMG I just love the ice cream cone shots.

I actually love this retro summer scene shot by Tim Walker and styled by Edward Enninful so much that I wish for the first time that advertising campaigns were made into posters. I can just see these images looking fabulous on the my bright yellow walls!!!

One thing, what happened to Lindsey and Frida riding the donkey?ss12Mulberry6 SS12 Campaign: More Seaside Fun From Mulberry %tagss12Mulberry8 SS12 Campaign: More Seaside Fun From Mulberry %tagss12Mulberry1 SS12 Campaign: More Seaside Fun From Mulberry %tagss12Mulberry4 SS12 Campaign: More Seaside Fun From Mulberry %tag

Who: Supermodel Lindsey Wixson

Where: At the Metropolitan Opera Season IV premiere of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory

Wearing: A black silk muslin dress with lace details, lace bustier with embroidered black crystal belt, finished with a black crystal ring, black velvet sandals and an ivory satin clutch with black velvet detail

Verdict: Lindsey is my best dressed lady in black, and a lot of it has to do with her sexy attitude in this dress, mixed with bold red lippy and slicked back hair. I love the sleeves, the cuffs, and the corset of this dress from the Edition Soir 2011 collection, but the stand-out piece of her outfit has to be that bling ring!!

Who: Olivia Munn

Wearing: A strapless black velvet Yves Saint Laurent floor skimming gown, teamed with a belt in black velvet with gold bow and piping details, and finished off with black suede gloves, black velvet heels and a black velvet clutch with embroidery detailing

Verdict: I always find that Olivia really knows how to work Old-Hollywood glamour to the full, and this dress really has an elegant glamorous quality to it that I adore. I love the addition of teaming it with slouchy gloves – gorgeous.

Who: Claudia Schiffer

Wearing: A black silk crepe Yves Saint Laurent halter dress with band details and open back, finished off with matching metal clutch and heels

Verdict: As always the German supermodel looked gorgeous and elegant, for some I am sure that this look is a little dull and boring, but come on Claudia is rocking this simply-yet-sleek floor skimming gown to perfection.

SS11 Campaign: McQueen All A Flutter For Spring

I got all excited when I saw this image yesterday, I actually think I might have squealed!! Sarah Burton has created a gorgeous butterfly campaign for spring/summer 2011 and I love it. Starring the gorgeous Lindsey Wixon, this is her second huge campaign already this season, I loved her in the Mulberry ad with her red wig, but this one is divine.

The sixteen-year-old model *yep she is only 16* looks completely stunning *and angelic* with her hair woven into a side-plait, wearing a sleeveless printed dress with scalloped edges, set against the most beautiful backdrop of orange butterflies.

Such a creatively gorgeous campaign, shot by Anne Deniau is going to be amazing on a billboard *think I might have to scout one down to snap a piccie*.

I brought you the first shot from the Mulberry spring ad campaign last week, inspired by The Secret Garden. Well I now have more of the campaign shot by Tim Walker starring Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit. Each shot is as gorgeous as the next.

SS11 Campaign: Mulberry Is A Florist Delight

Continuing the flower and red hair theme from the spring/summer 2011 presentation, Mulberry has cast the gorgeous Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit in its latest ad campaign, shot by Tim Walker.

This season ad campaign still has the whimsical and girly factor that the autumn/winter 2010 shots had taken by Steven Meisel, but instead of an exquisite boudoir, luxury handbag brand Mulberry have found the most amazing florist in Blighty!!

Also how amazing does Lindsey Wixson look, bet I wouldn’t look half as good slumped in a wheelbarrow. Also the fringe and satchel isn’t going anywhere for spring *yeah*.
