Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For Vogue US September Issue

It seems every time I do a September issue post another one gets released and of course it had to be Vogue US’ special anniversary issue starring a very statuesque Lady Gaga. This is Gaga’s second American Vogue cover, do you remember her pink wig for the March 2011 issue, well for September it seems that Gaga has gone blonde with a wig that kind of reminded me of muff handwarmer – sorry but it does.

Shot by Mert & Marcus and styled by Grace Coddington I am excited to see the accompanying editorial. The cover itself is going to take a little getting used to – I love the incredible Marc Jacobs gown – the silhouette and colour is insane, and I also love that they haven’t gone too crazy with the text. I just think her hair is going to make this cover a little bit like Marmite - you will either love or hate it.

On Vogue.com they have a preview of Gaga’s interview and her accompanying editorial, of course it features a naked Gaga, did you see her fragrance advert she does love being naked, and very similar to Gwen Stefani there is an oversized pink hat involved, this time designed by Steven Jones.

The magazine will hit newsstands on August 14 and I for one will be rushing to snap up this issue, not only does this cover deserve to be seen in print, the September Vogue issue is its biggest ever – a staggering 916 pages – serious fashion overload!!!

What do you think of Lagy Gaga’s September issue – do you love or hate it?

Beauty: Is Gulliver’s Travels Lady Gaga’s Favourite Movie?

ladygaga Beauty: Is Gulliver’s Travels Lady Gagas Favourite Movie? %tag

When it was announced that Lady Gaga was releasing her own fragrance I have to admit I was more excited to see what the campaign imagery would look like – and oh my words she certainly hasn’t disappointed.

Shot by Steven Klein, who has worked with Gaga before on her video Alejandro, it shows Gaga naked wearing just a black eye mask, oh and tiny men strategically placed climbing her body, check out the little man smelling her armpit, and the bottle of Fame is delicately place on her hand.

The image was released via Gaga’s social media site, LittleMonsters.com as well as on Twitter, which Gaga added:

Don’t get me wrong, she looks stunning, but come on surely the first thing we have to discuss is whether anyone else got a Gulliver’s Travels vibe from this image? Please say it isn’t just me.

After seeing this bizarre advert and the branded that claims it is the first ever black eau de parfum, and the crazy rumours from it smelling like blood and semen, which isn’t true apparently Grazia is reporting is smells more like an expensive hooker, which is much better. Even with all that I am intrigued to smell this scent, which launches in September, and I am sure will be a top seller.

Will you be buying Lady Gaga’s debut fragrance, Fame?

Airport Style: Lady Gaga In Atelier Versace

GagaVersace 462x1024 Airport Style: Lady Gaga In Atelier Versace %tag

Who: Lady Gaga

Where: At Seoul’s Gimpo Airport in South Korea

Wearing: A long-sleeve cream Atelier Versace gown with a full skirt, plunging deep V-neck and delicate beaded gold stripe details at the arms and waist, from the spring/summer 2011 collection; styled with sheer cream gloves and a pearl encrusted mask.

Verdict: Seriously I can only think of maybe a handful of celebrities who could get away with working couture to arrive at an airport, but only Gaga could work a full on couture gown with a pearl encrusted mask, she totally looks ready for an award ceremony. Getting past the strangeness of Gaga wearing such a gorgeous gown after jumping off a plane, you have to give it to her this is definitely one way to make an entrance for her Born this Way tour across Asia.

Back to the dress, which is utterly divine, I have to admit I wouldn’t have pictured her in this, but now I can’t imagine anyone else pulling it off as well, as she looks stunning. Everything from the colour to the gold detailing, the plunging neckline and the ruched fabric on the sleeves, and draping to the front this is a great statement frock. Add the mask, gloves, and pearls in her chic hairstyle and this is styling to perfection.

The only thing letting it down slightly for me is the location, surely this gown deserves so much more than an airport setting.

How do you feel about Gaga’s couture airport style?

Born This Way: Giorgio Armani Designs For Lady Gaga

look03 Born This Way: Giorgio Armani Designs For Lady Gaga %tag

Lady Gaga is known for wearing outrageous outfits, do you remember that Versace cage that she wore and that Charlie Le Mindu look made of hair? Well for the Asian leg of her Born this Way tour she will be wearing these amazing custom-designed Giorgio Armani looks.

Of course it wouldn’t be very Lady Gaga if the outfits weren’t a little out or should I say a lot out there and I am loving these futuristic looks, featuring everything from latex to metal, studs, mirrored embellishments and even PVC, which isn’t the fabric that you think of when thinking of Armani.

My favourite design has to be the top sketch where the black bodice is embellished with transparent Plexiglas, black crystals and luminous  studs  to create  a Cubist composition of abstract guitars. Seriously insane, and it even has a matching  headpiece in the shape of a keyboard – it really does scream only Lady Gaga it is amazing.

The second look features a shiny black grid-patterned PVC bodice with point structure shoulders embellished with sharp spikes,  black Swarovski jet crystals and flowing fringe.look01 Born This Way: Giorgio Armani Designs For Lady Gaga %tag

For her third look, I am feeling like this outfit is becoming Gaga’s signature look, a PVC bodice teamed with lots of studs, mirrored embellishments, and of course finished off with a statement headpiece and thigh-high boots. Simply divine!!

The  final  design, below is the most covered up of the lot, but still a little on the weird side with a long tunic with leg-o-mutton sleeves made of skin-toned  latex, and apparently the PVC elements create flashes of synthetic light  inside  the garment, and do you think a beam of light will be coming out of that triangle on her chest?

“Collaborating with Lady Gaga is always an exciting experience for me. I  admire  the way she uses fashion as a scenic element and as a means to  build a character,” says Giorgio Armani. “She is an artist of many talents  and great intelligence.  Creating stage costumes for her is a stimulating and creative exercise.”

Which is your favourite look?

NYE: Lady Gaga Striking In Crystal Encrusted Versace

GagaVersace2 NYE: Lady Gaga Striking In Crystal Encrusted Versace %tag

Who: Lady Gaga

Where: Performing at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve held at Times Square

Wearing: A black Versace catsuit fully adorned with Swarovski crystals, teamed with a large black accessory that resembled a cage over her head, which was then removed to show a glittery mask and statement shoulders

Verdict: Kind of made me think of catwoman, I think Gaga would give Halle Berry a run for her money in this outfit, but what I don’t get though is the cage – seriously insane. I really don’t think it did anything for the outfit.

Where: Helping NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg to lower the New Year’s Eve ball at midnight

Wearing: A silver Atelier Versace beaded gown from the spring/summer 2010 collection, teamed with a jewelled headpiece that covered most of her face and long gloves

Verdict: Now this is a headpiece I can understand it completely works with this gorgeous Versace gown – it is like Gaga is working the disco ball look and I like it!!! The dress alone is exquisite with its crystal embellished trimmed straps but for me this look is all about that headpiece - Gaga looks completely divine.

Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For ELLE – Not Once, But Twice

GagaElleCovers Cover Loving: Lady Gaga For ELLE Not Once, But Twice %tag
I know I am a little late on sharing these amazing Lady Gaga covers for ELLE UK, but in my defence I did think I had done it last week until I search on my blog and couldn’t see it.

First off, let me say what a shock it was realising that Gaga had never graced the cover of ELLE UK before, I know crazy right. In true Gaga style, she has done just one cover, though the magazine is releasing two newsstand covers. It is hard to choose my favourite between these two pastel shade covers, but I think the Alexander McQueen orange embroidered organza dress from the spring/summer 2012 collection just pips Simone Rocha’s green number. Only just mind you!!!! When you see the full length shot of Rocha’s mini in the editorial spread it is striking.

Both are completely stunning covers snapped by Matt Irwin and I do love the matching headpieces over the eyes. The only disappointment is that the subscriber cover is just the McQueen dress with less text – I was hoping for something else. Greedy I suppose!!

For an exclusive behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot, pop on over to ELLE and see Gaga in another Alexander McQueen dress and a purple Richard Nicoll dress.

So which is your favourite cover?
