Met Gala 2014: Battle Of The Pink

After the disappointed red carpet at last year’s Punk-themed Met Gala I was thrilled that this year’s event was celebrating Charles James the master courtier that really understood drama, sculpture, class, and what makes a great red carpet dress – generally something huge that makes a statement – so I am pleased that the celebs attendees really honoured his vision.

One of my favourite looks had to be Reese Witherspoon in this strapless Barbie-pink Stella McCartney gown. Everything from the colour to the sculptured take on the sweetheart neckline to the way it contoured her body and the slight train, everything about this look is perfection.

If the dress wasn’t enough to make me squeal with excited her Hollywood glamour hair and make-up sure would, the Oscar-winning star was simple flawless, I just loved the matching hot pink lips. I can’t believe that this is Reese’s first time at the Met Gala – this is a great debut look.

There were many hues of pink on the night and two came from Stella McCartney, to complement Reese’s hot pink gown, the gorgeous Kate Bosworth looked divine in this dusky pink slinky spaghetti strap dress. Her statuesque model figure really pulls off this great dress, which has sexy little cut-outs under the bust. But as much as I love the dress it is the styling of the accessories and hair-do that I adore the most – I love that she wasn’t afraid to add sparkle!!!

Combining an element of both Reese’s and Kate’s looks was Emma Stone who look modern, young and fabulous in this striking-yet-simple custom two-piece pink and magenta, colour-block Thakoon ensemble. What I love is that it isn’t a ballgown, I know that was kind of the theme of the night and this look might not quite have cut it, but for me Emma showed a contemporary look that still honoured Charles James with the flowing wrap skirt. Plus with hair like that she definitely had to be featured – love, love, love!!!

One last pink look that caught my attention was Taylor Swift who wore a custom blush pink embellished satin Oscar de la Renta gown teamed with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. While the front of this gown was exquisite, well it was crafted by Oscar de la Renta and embroidered with gold sequins, pearl beads and rose metallic leaves, for me this gown was all about the drama in the back – check out that fabulous bow and train. Stunning in an Old Hollywood glamour kind of way.

It is hard to choose who wins the battle of the pink, but I think Reese in that stunning hot pink number just gets it. Who was your favourite girl in pink?

CHOO.08°: Kate Bosworth In Dior & Jimmy Choo

Kate Bosworth Jimmy Choo CHOO.08°: Kate Bosworth In Dior & Jimmy Choo %tag

Who: Kate Bosworth

Where: At Jimmy Choo’s launch part of CHOO.08° in Los Angeles

Wearing: An ivory Christian Dior knee-length dress with embellishments on the bodice, teamed with glittery Jimmy Choo Anouk heels and a matching Jimmy Choo Calista clutch

Verdict: I have never really got the love affair with Kate Bosworth, maybe it is because she is more known for her street-style looks than red carpet, so when I saw her look at Jimmy Choo’s party to celebrate CHOO.08˚ collection I was floored and had to share.

Not only is this the most ladylike I have ever seen the actress, that A-line Dior dress is divine and really shows off her tiny waist. But it is her make-up that caught my eye – it is impeccable – I adore her pink lippy and her hair swept to one side. It is basically just gorgeous.

But what makes this look has to be those amazing heels. I have had my eye on the Jimmy Choo Anouk pointy toe heel for a while, it basically comes in tons of colours and is a classic, this a designer shoe you will wear a lot. Plus at just shy of £400 it isn’t the most expensive designer shoe out there.

What you think of Kate’s ladylike look?

Love the Jimmy Choo Anouk style – here are a few of my favourites in store now:

Coachella Festival: Mulberry Hosts A-List Barbecue

MulberryCoachella1 Coachella Festival: Mulberry Hosts A List Barbecue %tag

If like me you’ve been slightly avoiding some tweeters this weekend so not to see how much fun they are having at the Coachella Festival then I warn you look away now, as pictures from Mulberry’s barbecue and pool party hit my inbox over night and it looked amazing.

Yesterday the brand’s Creative Director Emma Hill and her giant monsters took over the Gene Autry House pool at The Parker hotel, in Palm Springs, and hosted a little R&R for some of its a-list pals and referenced the brand’s autumn/winter 2012 collection of mysterious monsters to create the perfect setting of sunbeds featuring the Mulberry monster fur print towels, monster cushions, and even giant monster lilos to relax in the pool.

Basically, the Mulberry monster invaded Coachella and served up BBQ kebabs and  lemonade popsicles to the likes of Emma Watson, Lily Collins and Kate Bosworth, and if that wasn’t enough they even got to wear prieces from the brand’s spring/summer and autumn/winter 2012 collections – think lots of animal prints, studs, and tassels.

Who: Emma Watson

Wearing: A Mulberry fuzzy tiger playsuit from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, teamed with a  black cardigan, belt, floppy hat, a Mulberry Mini Lily with Tassels in Oak from also from the autumn/winter 2012 collection, and gladiator-style flats

Verdict: This is a cute and pool party appropriate look from Emma and my best dressed Mulberry look, see Dree Hemingway at the bottom of the post in Dolce & Gabbana for my best overall look.

I am loving this playful look on her, sometimes I find Emma can be a little too serious in her style, which don’t get me wrong is generally impeccable, but I am loving that she is having a little fun with the animal print. I also love how she made the look her own with the addition of the belt, and that 70’s style hat. Also the tan version of the Mini Lily has so been added to my wish list – love that little beauty.

Who: Kate Bosworth

Wearing: A Mulberry fuzzy tiger scoop neck tee in acorn, teamed with studded black shorts, Mulberry black studded sneakers, and finishing off her look is a Mulberry Mini Lily with Tassels in Ink Blue, all from the autumn/winter 2012 collection

Verdict: Can Kate be any more cooler if she tried, I am loving her sexy casual vibe in these tiny studded shorts, which works perfectly with the animal print tee and those hot Mulberry sneakers. I also need to find out where her bright fish earrings are from as I am loving them!!!

Who: Actress of the moment Lily Collins

Wearing: A pale blue stripy straws Neely Mulberry dress, teamed with summer khaki stitched bow ballerina flats, both from the spring/summer 2012 collection, and completing her look is the ink blue Mulberry Lily with Tassels from the autumn/winter 2012 collection

Verdict: This was nearly my best dressed, I love the printed dress, the bag and her fresh face, but I am just not as sold on her shoes. Don’t get me wrong they work perfectly with the look, I am just not loving them, I much prefer the cross strap flats that she is wearing below with Kate.

Who: Dree Hemingway

Wearing: A Dolce & Gabbana chilli pepper-print cotton bustier and skirt from the spring/summer 2012 collection, teamed with very high platform heels

Verdict: Out of all the models who attended the party, which also included Arizona Muse, Tali Lennox, and Cara Delveigne, Dree really captured my attention in this very summery Dolce & Gabbana catwalk look. I am loving that she teamed it with hot red lips – LOVE!!!

So who gets your best dressed vote?

Video Loving: Kate Bosworth For Vanessa Bruno – Again

Last season Kate Bosworth was gorgeous in Vanessa Bruno’s Nordic-inspired campaign and once again the French designer has wowed me with another beautiful film called Moonlight. Directed again by Stephanie Di Giusto the spring/summer 2012 campaign has a retro-dreamlike feel to it that is just divine.

There is a softness to this film, which perfectly represents the Vanessa Bruno collection, and Kate Bosworth really does look stunning, maybe a little on the thin side, but stunning none the less. Everything from the camera angles, the filters, the location, and the radiance of Kate – I love this simple-yet-beautiful film.

I also love the way the director describes it: ‘A stellar girl, a radiant girl who clutches onto the moon and arrives in an unknown land, on unmarred ground, as immaculate as her white ensemble. Is this the end of reality, the beginning of a dream?’

Video Loving: Kate Bosworth For Vanessa Bruno

It is no secret that I like a fashion video, but I haven’t swooned at one in a while, that was until I saw Kate Bosworth in this gorgeous Nordic-inspired campaign for French designer Vanessa Bruno’s autumn/winter 2011 collection.

For me a fashion flick has to of course have amazing styling, but also great presence from the model as well as a story to it, and most of all has to convey emotion. I think Parisian label Vanessa Bruno has certainly done that, and I just adore Kate Bosworth in this very cool but spooky autumn/winter campaign entitled, LØV, directed by Stephanie Di Gusto.

Kate looks amazing channelling a Viking beauty, there is a strength and mysteriousness about her, and she looks gorgeous whether it is in her armour *better known as a metallic brocade jacket*, wearing just a white shirtdress, or my favourite styling in the film has to be this stunning brown capelet.

This is one enchanting campaign, I love the silent scream, the white horses and her finishing high in the treetops, oh and the clothes of course – simply gorgeous!
