SS12 Campaign: Chanel Goes Sporty And Simple

I knew as soon as posted that Mulberry was the best spring/summer 2012 campaign, I would find something else that I would fall in love with, and of course it had to be Chanel. Whereas most of the fashion houses for spring have gone for colourful and vibrant, I love that Chanel’s ready-to-wear campaign, lensed by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Carine Roitfeld, is simply shot in black and white and has a cinematic feel to it.

The other thing I love is the sporty vibe of this campaign, perfectly fitting with it being an Olympic year, and Saska de Brauw and Joan Smalls look incredible against the backdrop of gymnastic apparatus in the South of France. I love the parallel bars and the slicked back hair – everything about this campaign is perfection without being over the top. I love it!!!

AW11 Preview: Chanel Prestige Eyewear Collection

I love glasses, well I kind of have to as I wear them, and I adore sunglasses, so I was in heaven yesterday as I previewed the autumn/winter 2011 Chanel Prestige Eyewear collection. For most designer lovers sunglasses are the best option to have a piece of your favourite label in your wardrobe, and this Chanel eyewear line has all the signature touches of the clothing and iconic handbags.

The collection takes its inspiration from the interlaced leather chain from the classic Chanel 2.55 bag, with both the optical and sunglasses featuring the weave chain-effect along the arms. There are three styles square oversize, aviator and my favourite the cat’s eye style. As well as classic black, the frames are available in muted hues of blue, taupe, grey, and a wine red.

What did catch my attention was how adorable the optical eyewear was, I know we all love big sunglasses, but for fellow specky geeks it is nice to know Chanel has your back with stylish frames. I feel in love with these wine coloured ones – how amazing are they – roll on November when they are out.

As well as loving all the frames the campaign for the collection is completely stunning starring the gorgeous Claudia Schiffer. Shot in black and white, Claudia’ striking looks really standout and I love the addition of camellias in her hair, cute touch.

I also found this amazing video about the creation of the collection, which features Karl himself sketching out his designs, oh how I would love to meet him!!

As well as checking out the new collection the showroom had some of the sunglasses seen on the runway. Love the feathered sunglasses.

It was so sweet of the Chanel PR team to invite me I had a blast, and I was so surprised and thrilled that I got to take pair of sunglasses away, so now I finally own something Chanel!! I have the lovely cat-eye sunglasses in the gorgeous grey-brown hue, I just can’t stop looking at them!!!

I love them so much!!!

Harrods: The Enchanted World Of Chanel

I do love being a fashion blogger, especially on days when I get a tour around the new Chanel exhibition ‘Une Promenade’ created exclusively for Harrods. For three weeks only *seriously not long enough* the London department store will kind of looks like it has been sponsored by Chanel, with nearly all the windows redesigned with Chanel branding, the iconic green flags on the front have been replaced with Chanel’s logo, the store has built a pop-up shop on the ground floor with exclusive pieces *see towards the end*, as well as re-styling the beauty counter to look like a candy store complete with limited-edition beauty items and a photobooth fitted with a wind machine.

For me it is all about the magical Chanel installation on the third floor, it is simply stunning from entering via a curtain of white beads to walking through the Chanel garden of camellia trees, it was clear to see that a lot of thought has gone into creating this ‘Coco in Wonderland’.

As you pass through each room you delve into a different area of Chanel, from a room dedicated to the construction of the iconic Chanel 2.55 bag, Karl Lagerfeld’s library, a tweed room, and even an ode to the famous Chanel Number 5 perfume, which stunned me with a video literally playing a message in a bottle *sorry couldn’t resist*, and then there’s the giant Chanel 2.55 bag pictured above, which was an OMG moment.

However, my favourite room had to be the children’s bedroom, filled with giant chairs, a Chanel dolls house *love the chandelier*, my favourite B@arbricks similar to what I saw at the Colette x Chanel pop-up in Paris last season, and figures of Gabrielle Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld dotted about the room.

I took a shine to all the dolls *naturally*, not of the plastic variety but still just as amazing, I really wish that I could take this futuristic Chanel beauty home with me. Sadly, none of the dolls or teddy’s are being sold, which is probably a good thing as I wouldn’t be able to afford them anyway – but how cute is the Harrods bear!! Also can you see the wallpaper, filled with Chanel B@arbrick design, tres chic.

From the children’s playroom I went into a replica of Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment at 31 rue Cambon, complete with her Coromandel screens and tall mirrors featuring mannequins wearing Haute Couture designs. What I loved most was seeing the stunning cases which house the wonderful pieces, seriously you could pack me away in them they are so big.

As you can probably tell I loved it and I took way too many photographs to include on my blog, so I have created an album on my Facebook page, you just have to ‘like’ me and then click on the pictures here.

If you do visit make sure you stop by the beauty counter as the photobooth was lots of fun, there is a wind machine setting and I have to admit I wasn’t expecting it to be that strong!!

Pop-up Exclusives

The pop-up boutique is gorgeous, encased in white and black walls embossed with Lion’s heads it really stands out and the tourists were flocking over it today. Especially for the Chanel take-over there are Harrods iconic dark green exclusives, with prices starting at £640 for these cool weekend boots and rising to £1,830 for the large dark green vinyl shopper, which is gorgeous.

The Chanel experience at Harrods runs until September 24, you’ve been warned only for three weeks and then it is gone!!!

Also if anyone fancies buying me these earmuffs I would be your friend for life!!!

Chanel: The Tale Of A Fairy by Karl Lagerfeld

Once again it seems that the Chanel Cruise collection will be showcased alongside another short film imagined, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld. Entitled The Tale of a Fairy, the 30-minute film will be screened at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc at the Cap d’Antibes on May 9 alongside the 2011/2 Cruise line.

“It is a movie about an ill-advised use of money which begins with violence and ends with feeling” Karl Lagerfeld.

The flick features model Freja Beha Erichsen as the fairy of the title, and she is said to appear topless alongside co-star Chanel ambassador Anna Mouglalis who she shares a kiss with. Of course Karl’s favourite male model Baptiste Giabiconi also stars, as well as Amanda Harlech, Kristen McMenamy, Bianca Balti, Brad Koening, Jake Davies, Mark Vanderloo, Oriol Elcacho, Sébastien Jondeau, and Seth Kuhlmann.

Check out a clip on the Chanel website or below, and the full film can be seen on Chanel.com at 9pm on May 10 – I can’t wait.
