Chanel: The Tale Of A Fairy by Karl Lagerfeld

Once again it seems that the Chanel Cruise collection will be showcased alongside another short film imagined, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld. Entitled The Tale of a Fairy, the 30-minute film will be screened at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc at the Cap d’Antibes on May 9 alongside the 2011/2 Cruise line.

“It is a movie about an ill-advised use of money which begins with violence and ends with feeling” Karl Lagerfeld.

The flick features model Freja Beha Erichsen as the fairy of the title, and she is said to appear topless alongside co-star Chanel ambassador Anna Mouglalis who she shares a kiss with. Of course Karl’s favourite male model Baptiste Giabiconi also stars, as well as Amanda Harlech, Kristen McMenamy, Bianca Balti, Brad Koening, Jake Davies, Mark Vanderloo, Oriol Elcacho, Sébastien Jondeau, and Seth Kuhlmann.

Check out a clip on the Chanel website or below, and the full film can be seen on Chanel.com at 9pm on May 10 – I can’t wait.

Video Loving: Rachel Bilson Goes To Art Class

Last month I showcased the first of three short films by Karl Lagerfeld with Rachel Bilson for Magnum Ice Cream, and now Rachel has changed from being a discontented famous model to become an art student. I do love this series of films, Art Class is another creative film to advertise ice cream, but I have to admit I can’t wait for the final instalment where Rachel is going to be transformed into a ballerina.

Video Loving: Rachel Bilson For Magnum Ice Cream

With the sun shining, I think this video will make everyone reach for the freezer, as it is really is ice cream weather today. Shot by Karl Lagerfeld, Rachel Bilson looks gorgeous in the first of three short films for Magnum Ice Cream. Mood Photo, featuring Baptiste Giabiconi, premiered last night in New York, and sees Rachel playing a discontented famous model who finds pleasure in a Magnum ice cream, and she looks amazing!!!

Photo Mood, will be followed by Art Class, where Rachel’s character is an art student obsessed by Magnum; and Applause, which sees Rachel becoming a world-renowned ballerina who, when unexpectedly faced with an over-zealous fans and boyfriend, played by Baptiste, evades them all to savor a moment for herself by enjoying a Magnum. Each film will be released on Magnum’s website over the next three weeks, and I can’t wait to see them.

I don’t know about you but I love this short, it is cute, and has converted me to ice cream *yes finally an excuse*!!!

Paris: Colette x Chanel Pop-up

I love how fashion week can bring together two brands and produce something cool, and I was so excited that with my first time going to Paris Fashion Week that my favourite Parisian store Colette had teamed up with Chanel for a temporary space.

Located at 336-340 rue Saint-Honoré *literarly just up the road from Colette*, the pop-up boutique is being housed in a former garage, and has gathered some cool artists to decorate it alongside Chanel’s spring/summer 2011 collection.

I loved this space, not only for the collector’s doll by Karl Lagerfeld *sadly at €1,200 – a little out of my price range*, but the giant Be@rbrick’s holding Blake Lively’s favourite bag the Mademoiselle, to the nail bar and cupcake bar, and all this alongside a DJ playing great tunes.

I seriously could have spent all day here. Wish spaces like this would just pop-up in Londontown.

Sorry for the lack of great piccies, but these were the only ones I could get on my Blackberry before being told off by the burly security guys.

CHANEL Girl: Blake Lively New Face Of The Mademoiselle

Well I tweeted speculation regarding Blake Lively and CHANEL before Christmas, and this week the luxury French fashion house announced that the Gossip Girls is going to front its Mademoiselle handbag line.

“Like all girls, I grew up with a fascination for everything the house of CHANEL represents: timeless elegance, grace, sophistication, intelligence and feminine power,” Blake.

Like all girls, I grew up with a fascination for everything the house of CHANEL represents:timeless elegance, grace, sophistication, intelligence and feminine power”.

Of course, the campaign is going to be photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, I am sure it will be spectacular, and I can’t wait to see it when it breaks mid-March.

Looks like Blake has a long future ahead in fashion, as she got this Chanel gig after being introduced to Karl Lagerfeld by non-other than Anna Wintour. That is high praise indeed!!

I wonder how long it will take the Mademoiselle to hit the set of Gossip Girls? This line is perfect for Blair and Serena to fight over.

Pre-Fall 2011: Chanel Ode To Istanbul

Pic: Pre-fall 2011 invite

As always Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld showcased a luxurious pre-fall 2011 collection in Paris. With the help of an amazing 36 models, the Paris-Bryzance collection was shown at Métiers d’Art. Inspired by the Byzantine Empire, Karl’s collection was gorgeous and lavish with its tweeds interwoven with gold, the romantic feminine use of chiffon, lace and tulle that only Chanel can master, and then teamed with the satin, leather and velvets to give the line a rock and roll elegance. For me this is the best Chanel collection for a number of seasons.

I loved the exquisite stonework detail, the tight-fitted black tweed coats embroidered with gold thread, adorned bodices, jewelled buttons, tunics, and it worked amazingly well with a 60s vibe to the hair and styling – relaxed elegance and for Chanel – extremely wearable.
