It seems like the BAFTAs 2016 brought out a lot of gorgeous heavy embroidery, sleek white gowns, as well as statement jewellery. For me, the BAFTAs 2016 red carpet was completely won by Cate Blanchett in this stunning custom Alexander McQueen gown. I adore Cate Blanchett’s fashion-forward style, she always hits the red carpet with great confidence, and this floral embroidered feathered Alexander McQueen gown really made a statement. Seriously is this gown fashion or art? The embroidery craftsmanship of this dress is exquisite, I would be interested to know how many hours it took to apply all those flowers
The Golden Globes are always exciting, it’s the first major award show of the season, and I always find that the fashion is more fun, which in turn means that the stars take a few more fashion risks, and this year’s red carpet trends were filled with fashion-forward looks. There were dangerous low plunging necklines as seen on Jaimie Alexander, romantic and pretty pale pink hues championed by Cate Blanchett in Givenchy, and even sexy featured cutouts as seen on Jennifer Lawrence’s custom Dior gown. There were other red carpet trends that caught my eye including the resurgence of midnight blue, pulled
There is something special about Cannes, maybe even more so than the Oscars, and that’s because everyone gracing the red carpet really does go big, always glamorous, and most importantly very over-the-top. The film festival really does deliver great red carpet magic for nearly 2-weeks, it is pure bliss for someone like me who is obsessed by gorgeous gowns, and the opening day really did set a high standard. As always Cannes attracts all the top actresses, some of my favourite Diane Kruger moments have been in this French Riviera town, I still get goosebumps when I look at this Jason Wu Barbie
Who: Julianne Moore Where: At the 87th Annual Academy Awards held at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, California Wearing: A custom white Chanel haute couture gown, featuring white hand painted resin sequins and flowers made of ivory, beige and black organza, tulle and sequins, teamed with Chopard jewellery Verdict: OK, so this gown didn’t blow me away like I hoped, Julianne Moore has been so amazing this season with her high fashion sexy numbers that this one for me falls a little short. For the craftsmanship alone, it took 987 hours of work and 27 people to complete as it features more
The Film Independent Spirit Awards rarely disappoints, I’m not talking about the winner’s of the awards, but of the red carpet, I love that the actresses opt for more relaxed looks than we are going to see at the Oscars. Fashion should be fun and I do adore that it is always such a stark contrast from the up-coming Oscars. I know I am all about full-on gowns, but I can appreciate that this award show has a different vibe and it gives the actresses a chance to try out something new.
