The Outnet Summer Style: All About The Marni Bag

When my good friend, blogger and photographer extraordinaire Abi Marvel told me to keep July 4th free for something fun, I have to be honest I didn’t even question it, because as Abi was organising it I was totally in. Well, Abi certainly pulled out all the stops by teaming up with designer discount fashion retailer, The Outnet for an afternoon of basically playing dress up, and it was so much fun.

The first of my three looks, and part one of my The Outnet Summer Style series, was all about chic dressing for lunch with my blogger pals – Alex, Naomi, Ella, Kate, Monica, and of course Abi. I originally picked out a gorgeous Barbie pink Thakoon dress, it was gorgeous, it just didn’t look amazing on me, so for my first look I actually stole something off Alex’s rail, well she did seem to pick out the whole shop.

As soon as I saw this striking pleated crepe Tube Gallery dress I was in love, everything from the bright orange colour to the bead-embellished straps, this dress was perfect for me. I finished my look with metallic cut-out Jil Sander heels and this divine, will fit everything, while still looking chic Marni bag, I loved it so much I had to include it in the group shot. I just really liked the size and I just thought that the woven leather bag was a great match with the cut-out heels. Now if only I had £500+ to buy it!!!

I really loved all the other girls outfits, Kate from I Am Not A Celebrity looked amazing in DvF, Ella from Coco’s Tea Party was stunning in Versus, I fell in love with Naomi from The Fash Pack’s neon Christopher Kane, Alex from Alex Loves wore the Felder Felder mini dress that I have been stalking for a while, and Monica from The Elgin Avenue carried the Rebecca Minkoff clutch that I currently have sat in my wish-list.

My two other looks, coming soon, are festival fashion with a twist, think more chic than mud-ready, as well as my favourite the evening wear look where I got to dress up in a gorgeous Felder Felder gown.

What do you think of my daytime look – do you like the combination of the orange Tube Gallery dress with nude Jil Sander heels and that Marni bag that totally made me swoon?

SS12 Campaign: Jil Sander Inspired By Hitchcock

I do love it when a femme fatale style ad campaign is done well and this spring/summer 2012 campaign from Jil Sander is a gorgeous, dark and moody display styled by Olivier Rizzo. Starring Natasha Poly and Daria Strokous, everything from the staging to the divine tailored pieces, especially this emerald-green dress, which accentuates all the curves, and the crack glass shots are just inspired.

It really is a beautiful campaign shot by Willy Vanderperre, it may even rival my other favourite SS12 campaign of the retro beach holiday from Mulberry, even if it is the polar opposite. This is why I love fashion, the different vibes of two very different brands, each works and both created such an impact on me.

Primark vs Jil Sander SS11

If like me you loved the Jil Sander spring/summer 2011 collection then get down to Primark quick to pick up this striped beauty. At only £23, this maxi won’t be in store for long, it really is perfect dress to wear at the moment with all the sun we have been having. I also really like the pink Grosgrain wedges, which again are a bargain price of £14.

Cover Girl: Drew Barrymore is Easy, Breezy, Colourful

Easy, Breezy, Covergirl

Who: Drew Barrymore

Where: At Covergirl’s 50th Anniversary celebration event in LA

Wearing: A strapless citrus Jil Sander floor-skimming gown from the spring/summer 2011 collection

Verdict: Well I think you will have to admit that not everyone could pull off this dress, but Drew does it with ease, and I love it.

One, the colour is divine, and I can’t wait for the high-street to be full of this shade!! Two, her make-up is flawless – that shade of red lippy on her is gorgeous. Finally, the elasticated detail on the legs is quirky, which suits her.

I know that I am probably alone in my love for this dress, and on her, but come on doesn’t this shade of orange just cheer you up?
