Where: At the 69th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles
Wearing: A black and ecru couture J. Mendel draped front gown with embroidered cap sleeves, and open back detailing, inspired by a shorter pre-fall 2012 look, teamed with platinum earrings with princess cut diamonds from Bulgari’s High Jewellery Collection and a white gold bracelet with diamonds
Verdict: I love al the crystal embellishment detailing on the shoulders and around the waist – it kind of has a warrior-esq vibe to it – but as Claire rightly put it “is all about the back” I totally agree!!!
So who do you think has the best open back Claire or Zooey?
Where: At the world premiere of Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 in Los Angeles
Wearing: A black and iris sequin brushstoke print sleeveless J Mendel column gown from the spring/summer 2012 collection, with a thigh-high split to the side and belted detail; teamed with Jimmy Choo peep-toe platform heels and a Neil Lane cocktail ring.
Verdict: When I first saw this look from Kristen, who might I add looked spectacular, all I could think was how far she has come. This dress, with such a sexy thigh-high split I could totally see on Megan Fox, and never would I have imagined that Kristen would choose to wear something like this. But I am so glad that she did as she proved that she can work the red carpet, I have never seen her look as confident as this and I think a lot of that has to do with this completely stunning embellished dress.
It is a hard to pick my best dressed from last night’s premiere, especially when Ashley Greene looked so amazing, but I think Kristen’s confidence with this sexy dress gets my vote. What about do you think? Kristen or Ashley??
Wearing: A liquid silver velvet bias cut slip J. Mendel gown with chiffon inserts
Verdict: Seriously Selena is all grown-up. This is a gorgeous dress, it has an old-Hollywood feel about it and I love the fact she kept her hair down adds extra glamour that this dress most certainly deserves.
This week the Oscar nominations were finally announced, and I was super excited as this is one of my favourite award shows, as the stars really do shine in the most impeccable gowns.
Well here is a taste of who got nominated…going for the leading ladies as come on that is who is going to sparkle *fingers crossed* on the red carpet.
Fighting it out for Best Actress in a Leading Role we have: Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, and Michelle Williams. I have to admit I am so pleased that my latest style crush Jennifer is amongst this line-up as I was so impressed with her Louis Vuitton gown at the Golden Globes. Of course Nicole is going to bring her elegance, Natalie is continuing to show how to do maternity wear in style, and I have seriously got my fingers crossed that Michelle really brings it as I was disappointed with her Golden Globes gown.
I was also super pleased for Ken and Barbie that Toy Story 3 were nominated in both Animated Feature Film and Best Picture. But was a little disappointed that the Rodarte costumes of Black Swan didn’t make the cut. Check out the full list here on the Academy’s website.
Well of course I can’t wait for February 27, as this year’s event is being hosted by the stylish Anne Hathaway *by super stylist Rachel Zoe* and the gorgeous James Franco. I love the promo picture above as it really gives us a taste of what’s to come from Anne, especially as she looks so chic in this black silk jersey J.Mendel long-sleeve gown, with its detailed bodice and column skirt – gorgeous!!
Also below is the Oscar promo ad, check out Anne wearing Jeremy Scott’s gold wing shoes – LOVE these so much on her! Also Anne and James have chemistry – I really think this year is going be a great show.
Roll on February 27 – I can’t wait to be staying up all night long blogging away and enjoying the show!
Wearing: A strapless soft beige silk chiffon hand pleated beaded J. Mendel gown with Peplum, teamed with an amazing Cathy Waterman diamond fairy mesh collar
Verdict: Nude hues are definitely all the rage tonight, and this chic gown by J. Mendel is one of the best. I love the colour, not quite nude, not quite pink, perfect against her blonde locks.
It also has pleats which always gets my vote but it’s the peplum detailing that catches my eye as well as that gorgeously elegant fairy mesh collar necklace that she is wearing. I always think her style is years ahead of her age but she pulls it off with such ease.
Who: Actress and wife of Ben Affleck, the gorgeous Jennifer Garner
Where: At the 2010 American Cinematheque Annual Award Presentation at The Beverly Hilton hotel, supporting close pal Matt Damon who was honoured
Wearing: Navy blue strapless J. Mendel dress, teamed with Brian Atwood heels and a Bulgari clutch
Verdict: As always Jen knows how to glam up, this sexy-yet-structured frock looks amazing on her. I love the layered effect to the skirt as well as the black accessorises. She really does know how to do glamorous yet still sexy.
