So is this cover loving or just coat loving – I am in love with this gorgeous yellow and blue Miu Miu coat that Girls star Allison Williams is wearing on the February cover of InStyle UK.
I am a little obsessed with pastels, so I am a little pleased that it is set to be one of spring’s hottest trends and the styling of this cover and accompanying shoot is perfection. I have a few issues with that pose and positioning of her hand, but I can let that all go for this incredible coat.
What I also love about this cover, other than the fab coat, have I said that already, is that it is nice to see a covered-up cover for February – as yes it is still bloody cold and January is just too early to be handling summery covers.
Inside the editorial is just as gorgeous as the cover, Allison gets all ladylike modelling must-have spring pieces from Burberry, Michael Kors and Isabel Marant – I didn’t think I wanted a lilac coat until I saw this one below!!!
I am literally obsessed with The Hunger Games, it is my bath-time reading, and I have to admit as soon as I read the section on Katniss’s fire dress I have wondered how it will look when the book hits the big screen in March. Well it seems I wasn’t the only one as American InStyle asked a dozen New York Fashion Week designers including Charlotte Ronson, Tommy Hilfiger, Nicole Miller, Christian Cota, and The Blonds to sketch how they envision this amazing moment **noted this first went up on the site in December, but I have only just come across it** – there are so very hot designs.
“I am dressed in what will either be the most sensational or the deadliest costume in the opening ceremonies. I’m in a simple black unitard that covers me from ankle to neck. Shiny leather boots lace up to my knees. But it’s the fluttering cape made of streams of orange, yellow, and red and the matching headpiece that define this costume. Cinna plans to light them on fire just before our chariot rolls into the streets.” – Katniss in The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I have to admit even though I am loving Charlotte Ronson’s flame cape my favourite has to be the vision of Katniss being engulfed in satin flames by design duo Phillipe and David Blond from The Blonds – I just love that they added some crystal bling on her bodysuit – very sexy. Nicole Miller also went for it with a leather and feathered parachute-inspired cape with a very carnival vibe headdress, where as Christian Cota decided to change it up with a two-tone bodysuit with the fiercest boots that I totally want. Seeing these visions has made me more excited to see this scene on the big screen – check out all the other looks on InStyle.com.
I just wish I could sketch my own version – maybe I will give it a go and get back to you all!!!
Excited about the film as much as I am? Well check out the official trailer – I seriously can’t wait!!!
I thought September was supposed to bring all the fierce covers, well that memo clearly didn’t get to InStyle as they have gone all out for the October issue with the gorgeous Diane Kruger, and I LOVE it.
Celebrating its 10th birthday, I don’t know why I just thought that InStyle was older than that, they have styled Diane Kruger in a striking gold sequinned star beauty from Dolce & Gabbana. I know I am slightly bias when it comes to Diane, but I have to admit I am not a regular InStyle reader, I only really pick it up when the cover shouts at me, and this gorgeous cover certainly does that!!
The dress may look familiar as Beyonce worked a very similar dress for the September cover of the American version of InStyle. I do think though that Diane’s long-sleeved gold version works better for me.
