My Style: Day Five At London Fashion Week

OOTD Day5 yellow pow My Style: Day Five At London Fashion Week %tag

The final day and even though my fashion flu has come on early I will be sad to see this fashion week go – I have enjoyed the spectacle, seeing the collections, and generally pushing myself to try new things with my outfits. So we’ve had boyfriend jeans, some sneaker love, a statement blazer, a pinafore dress and today’s look is a ‘boom’ ‘pow’ ‘zap’ of a look as I channel my inner super hero.

When I saw this skirt online at Topshop I love it, I was also worried I wasn’t cool or skinny enough to pull it off, but when I tried it on I really liked how fun it was and all the colours. I did plan on buying a red jumper to match the ‘boom’ but then I spied this neon yellow jumper in Toppers and it was a OTT colour match made in heaven.

Finishing up my colourful look is this gorgeous 13inch cobalt blue Cambridge Satchel Company bag that I borrowed from the Covent Garden stores lending library, I just couldn’t resist it – great colour, big enough to fit my iPad in and tickets, but not too big that it overpowers the look – plus I love carrying it like an oversized clutch.

The only thing with test driving a new Cambridge Satchel is now I am creating a mental list on why it ends to become a permenate member of the Fashionista Barbie bag collection!!!

My Style: Day Three At London Fashion Week

OOTD LFW Day3 gap My Style: Day Three At London Fashion Week %tag

Day three and the sun has been shining all day, granted still not that warm, but I don’t mind shivering when it is bright. Once again, another look, another shade of pink – so we’ve had a bright pink jumper, bright pink accessories and today I went for my new Gap blazer which I picked up in the sale last weekend.

Considering a blazer is a wardrobe staple I only seem to have two very ill-fitted ones so I thought it was time to invest for fashion week as you can dress an outfit up or down with one and lots of my friends recommended Gap. When I saw this bright pink beauty I couldn’t resist, even more so when it was £20 off – serious bargain that I am sure to wear all-year round.

As the trim of the blazer is a dark grey I thought it would make the bright pink stand out even more if the rest of my outfit was charcoal grey and black – and I think this is one of my favourite looks for a while.

As you know if you follow me on Twitter I love jeans but like most people I struggle to find styles that fit and look flattering and a number of my followers answered my pleas for help and suggested Uniqlo, a shop I love for t-shirts but have never tried for denim, but I have seriously been missing out.

These dark grey beauties are from the super soft, super stretchy skinny range, and I can assure you they are exactly that, they are just so flattering and for a long time putting skinny jeans on didn’t make me feel instantly fat. Plus they are super long, I have them turned up as wearing with boots today, but in the summer I will actually be able to wear jeans with flats and not feel like I am showing half my leg off!!!

Finishing off my look is my trusty Osprey London bag, this is so perfect for fashion week – classic colour, classic design and fits everything from my iPad, tickets, make-up, chocolate, phone, diary, notepad, pens, etc, etc, in, as well as my Ice-Watch, which sadly has the wrong date on it, my Topshop ankle boots that I am literally wearing to death, and a new statement necklace from New Look.

Gadget: My Barbie Pink Retro Ice-Phone

Ice Phone pink 4 Gadget: My Barbie Pink Retro Ice Phone %tag

Sunday’s are generally catch-up days, whether that’s reading through my stack of magazines, writing my very long to-do lists for the up-coming week, or catching up with friends and family on the phone. With being away last week in France and still feeling slightly ill, yesterday seemed to be one long catch-up and I have to admit I quite enjoyed it, especially as I got to use my cool Ice-Phone gadget.

Ice Phone pink 2 Gadget: My Barbie Pink Retro Ice Phone %tag

From the brilliant Ice-Watch peeps, the Ice-Phone is a cool gadget that not only brightens up any office – it comes in ten funky colours, it is also a practical-yet-fun device that adds a little nostalgia to any room with its retro shape and rotary dialling, plus the best bit is that it really does offer the most comfortable way to natter away an afternoon with friends.

If like me you don’t really use your house phone, basically we have one for internet and emergency purposes, and your mobile burning against your ear puts you off chatting for too long, then the Ice-Phone is  a great way of bringing the comfort back into chatting on the phone. Plus this beauty doesn’t just hook up to your mobile it is also compatible with tablets like iPads and computers, which means Skype just got a lot more chic!!!

I of course went for the Barbie pink colour, but just like their amazing range of watches, the Ice-Phone comes in ten different colours, which basically means there is one to suit every need – also at £29.95 this beauty isn’t going to break the bank.

So which colour would you go for?

My Style: Autumnal Layering and Breton Stripes

MyStyleBreton8 My Style: Autumnal Layering and Breton Stripes %tagI am a huge fan of autumn, mainly because it suits my layering style, and this week with the lingering fog and chill in the air my need for layers has become more apparent. We are in the midst of press day season, lots of time away from my computer, mentally making my spring/summer 2013 shopping list, as well as constantly being in and out of different venues – so this look was perfect.

I am a fan of parka coats and this one from Dorothy Perkins is one of my favs and has been in my wardrobe for around five years and still looks fresh each season. It isn’t the warmest of coats, so generally autumn is when I wear it, but I love the shape, the drawstrings and the pockets – plus khaki green really does work with most colours.

When I look at this outfit I realise how many capsule wardrobe pieces it contains, that wasn’t intentionally but does show that when you buy classic pieces such as black jeans, a long draping cardigan and a Breton striped top what you can come up with.

This Breton striped top from Crew Clothing is fast becoming one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe, I love that it is perfect for layering under a cardigan and it is comfortable to wear, which is ideal for a busy day.

Today, I also went to the OPI Nails spring preview, checked out all the fab colours coming and also got a pretty manicure – I am in love with the new Liquid Sand shades coming – I do love matt textured looks. I also think that my purple splash nails also goes well with my pink arm candy, especially my Chamilia bracelet that was designed in aid of Breast Cancer awareness month.

Finishing off my look are my new biker boots from Tribeca shoes a cool footwear emporium of the latest trends. What makes these boots my new favourites has to be the style – I love the studs, they are seriously comfortable, and every time I wear them I can’t believe they are only £35 – serious bargain!

Do you love autumnal layering? And are you a fan of Breton stripes?

Shopping: All About The Jubilee

jubilee Shopping: All About The Jubilee %tag

I love a good celebration, whether it is my birthday **hint, hint it’s this weekend**, a wedding, or an anniversary, so The Queen’s DIamond Jubilee is right up my street. Not only am I becoming a little bit of a royalist but I am loving that so many fashion brands have got behind the Union Jack, which if I do say so myself is by far the prettiest flag!!!

There are so many cool Jubilee-related items out there and I am loving places like Selfridges and Liberty’s that have put together dedicated Jubilee pop-ups and gorgeous window displays. It was hard narrowing down my choices for this special Jubilee shopping edit, but here are my 15 must-have/wishlist purchases:

1. Tatty Devine Crown Tiara, £66 exclusive to Selfridges – this is the perfect finishing touch to any Jubilee outfit.

2. Thomas Sabo Crown Charm, £59 – I am a Thomas Sabo addict, I love a good charm and this beauty complete with a real diamond would be the perfect addition to any bracelet.

3. House of Holland Tea Towel, £25 from Browns – leave it to Henry Holland to bring cheeky to the Jubilee – I love this slogan tea towel.

4. Ice-Watch Union Jack Watch£75 - put together my new fav watch brand and a patriotic face and I am there!!!

5. Nails Inc Jubilee Crystal Colour, £15 – inspired by the Union Jack this is a fun nail varnish featuring red, blue and silver glitter, it also comes with a crystal cap and a patriotic British themed gift box.

6. Aspinal of London Jubilee Clutch, £595 – OK granted very pricey but very pretty, this clutch is limited to just 50 and each one is numbered. I love the studded Union Jack and the iconic queen’s head silhouetted in vibrant colours.

7. Topshop Corgi Shopper, £10 – well I couldn’t miss out including The Queen’s favourite dog now could I – plus if you are a little fed up of the red, white and blue colour-scheme this could be perfect for you.

8. Stella & Dot Elizabeth Bracelet, £26 – this bracelet is not only cute but 20% of the proceeds will go directly to The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

9. Simeon Farrar Great Britain Kitten T-shirt, £45 – I am a big fan of Simeon Farrar and this is the cutest Jubilee-inspired piece that I’ve seen a cool kitten with punk rock on his paws – seriously, what’s not to love!!!

10. Filofax Jack Vintage Personal Organiser, from £17 – want something patriotic and practical? Well this Filofax is perfect, comes in two sizes pocket or personal – I love the matt finish.

11. Pretty Ballerinas Commemorative Crown Slipper, £189 – love these suede slippers that pay tribute to The Queen with an elegant crown motif on the toes.

12. Maggie Angus Silver Queen’s Jubilee Crown Necklace, £20 – I have to admit I didn’t realise how pretty crown’s were until looking at all the Jubilee pieces, this quirky silver-mirrored acrylic necklace is fun. It also comes in gold but I think I prefer the silver.

13. Ted Baker Lowbow Purse Union Jack, £79.20 at John Lewis – bows, Union Jacks and a dachshund I am sold!!! How sweet is this leather purse?

14. Alexander McQueen Silk Chiffon Shell Patchwork ‘God Save McQueen’ Scarf, £445 – want to rebel a little against the monarchy? Well not work this Union Jack-printed McQueen scarf.

15. Barbie Collector Royal Wedding William and Catherine Doll Set, £66.19 – I am sad that The Queen doesn’t have her own Barbie, I would have loved to add that to my collection, but Mattel did do one to celebrate Will & Kate’s wedding. I felt at £99 it was a little pricey but not you save over £30 I think I might need to buy it.

Are you as excited as me for the Jubilee?

My Style: Working My New Nike Kicks From Schuh

MyStyleKicks My Style: Working My New Nike Kicks From Schuh %tag

At the weekend it seems Cambridge was one of the few places to actually resemble summer, it was sunny, very sunny in fact, and actually warm, I even burnt a little, which was unexpected. I had friends staying for the weekend so we took in the sights of Cambridge, which meant a lot of walking, so I decided that I had to work my new Nike Delta high tops that I bought from Schuh.

This weekend was their first outing, I bought them about three weeks ago, but I had been worried that I wasn’t cool enough to pull them off, but once I had them on my feet I didn’t care they as they are so comfortable. I know everyone is about wedge trainers, which I love, but I just love that the classic high top shape.

I paired my beauties with their coral swoosh and laces with the casual vibe of my favourite navy cotton shirt dress from H&M, which for £7.99 is one of my go-to dresses at the weekend as it is so comfortable, not too tight, not too baggy, it’s perfect. I paired it with my rose belt that I bought months ago in the Dorothy Perkins sale, I love the pale blue against the navy and black and I love that it pops nicely against the pink.

I have a little scarf obsession lately, New Look seems to have a lot of cool designs and this zebra print is one of my favourites at the moment, I love the pale pink colour as it generally means I can get it to work with anything, while it still has the quirky vibe of the zebras.

Finishing off my look are my trusty CK shades, I love these beauties, plus my rather large, very bright Ice-Watch, and the tiniest bag I own my cross-body bag that I bought from Debenhams last year, it basically fits my Blackberry, purse and car keys and that’s it!!!

So what do you think – do you like my kicks?

My Style: Punting In Cambridge In My Mou Boots

MouCambridge3 My Style: Punting In Cambridge In My Mou Boots %tag

This weekend I did tourist things as my good pals Mat and Becky came to stay with my cutie of a Godson Sebbie, so for the first time in five years of living just outside Cambridge I finally went punting. Admittedly it did take some convincing, but I am so glad I did it as it was so much fun, and it was lovely to see Cambridge from the river, plus the sunny weather was the perfect backdrop.

Unlike last week when it was scorching yesterday in Cambridge was the right amount of sun and heat, cold enough for me to still wear my new tall Eskimo Mou Boots, but still warm enough to not have to wear a coat. I am much more of a layering autumn/winter doll, I love wearing sheepskin-lined boots, gloves, and wrapping up in a funky scarf, but I do prefer not to have to hide my look behind a winter coat, so yesterday was perfection.

As it was a Sunday and a day of fun with friends I went for something comfortable, and generally that means layering my simple black H&M skirt over my leggings for warmth, and teaming with a plain black tee, and then an added pop of colour with my cardigan and scarf, and generally that means some hue of pink, yesterday’s shade was light but sweet, which sat perfectly against the bright pink from my Ice-Watch.

MouCambridge2 My Style: Punting In Cambridge In My Mou Boots %tag

As you already know I have a lot of sheepskin-lined boots of various colours, heights and styles, and these beauties are my ninth pair, and my first black and my first Mou boots. What I love about them has to be the crochet wool seams, it just makes them a little bit different, and a little bit smarter than the standard Ugg boot. I can imagine getting a lot of use out of these boots, as well as working with a skirt or jumper dress they also go perfectly over my skinny jeans, and with their double-face sheepskin I can’t wait to test out later this week if the reported snow comes!!!
