Editorial Flashback: Lindsay Lohan’s Superhero Shoot

Over the weekend my friends and I were having a discussion about Lindsay Lohan, as you do, and we were trying to figure out how many comebacks this 27 year-old has had – not the most intellectual of conversations and to be honest we aren’t sure how we even came to be discussing her but it got me thinking about some of her editorial shoots.

There have been a few that stick in my mind – like the incredible cover she did for ELLE UK in 2009, the Interview cover looking like Elizabeth Taylor in 2006 and who can forget her Playboy cover in 2012. But one of the editorials that really stands out for me has to be her ‘I Need a Hero’ fashion spread for Harper’s Bazaar US captured by Peter Lindbergh for the March 2008 issue.

What I love about this editorial, other than the fact Lindsay actually looks good, has to be the contrast of the wannabe heroes and everyday settings with the high-fashion of her styling – as well as the fun comic book fonts. Who would have thought a Dior slip would be seen in a laundrette alongside Captain America, but I think seeing Lindsay hand-in-hand with Batman while wearing that gorgeous Nina Ricci gown has to be favourite. Seriously why do we not have editorials like this any more?

Do you love Lindsay’s superhero shoot as much as me?

Cover Loving: Kate Hudson For Harper’s Bazaar US

Kate Hudson is really having a moment lately, wowing on the red carpet, and now looking incredible on the latest cover of Harper’s Bazaar US for the magazine’s December issue.

Shot by Alexi Lubomirski, Kate shows off her super toned body in a gorgeous selection of designer clothing from the festive red Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress and Alexander McQueen gowns to her shimmering Lanvin gown on the cover.

As well as working gorgeous gowns, the actress also looks hots in a cut-out gold embellished Roberto Cavalli swimsuit, which doesn’t scream December issue to me – but hey she looks stunning so why not!!!

In the magazine she chats about her family, keeping fit, as well as discussing her favourite red carpet moments: “The black-and-gold Alexander McQueen dress I wore to the Golden Globes, and a red Stella McCartney and a red Prabal Gurung. I haven’t really done Valentino yet, but I want to.”

I think Kate would look amazing in a floaty Valentino number – here’s hoping that happens during the up-coming award season!!!

Will you be buying the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar US?

Editorial Flashback: Remembering Steve McQueen

When we talk about male Hollywood legends surely at the top of everyone’s list is the incredible Steve McQueen – not only for his rugged good looks but also his long list of amazing films. My favourite is hard to choose, I love The Great Escape, The Towering Inferno and the original The Thomas Crown Affair – but I think if I had to watch one right now I think it would have to be Bullitt. This gritty crime drama has it all – a great backdrop in the city of San Francisco, 60’s fashion, and one beauty of a car – the Ford Mustang.

It was because of my love of his films that when I came across this editorial he did in 1965 for Harper’s Bazaar with Jean Shrimpton that I just had to share. Shot by Richard Avedon – I love how the editorial shows off his cheeky side as well as even with a few wrinkles that he was one good-looking guy.

The shot with him looking into Jean’s eyes is my favourite – not only are her eyelashes incredible but I reckon it took a while to capture as he looks like he couldn’t stop laughing.

Are you a fan of Steve McQueen?

Cover Loving: Jennifer Lawrence Is A Vision For Harper’s Bazaar

With the second Hunger Games film hitting cinema screens in less than two months, I’m not surprised to see Jennifer Lawrence on the November issue of UK’s Harper’s Bazaar, and I think we will be seeing a lot more of the Oscar-winning actress before the year is out.

Not that I am complaining as this is another stunning cover of Jennifer, I actually think I prefer it to her recent US Vogue cover. Shot by Ben Hassett, this is the subscriber cover and I adore everything about it – the Dior Couture dress, the OTT rings, and the dramatic red lippy – but why does it look a little over airbrushed, she seriously didn’t need it, and what is she actually leaning her arm on???

I am being uber-picky, this is a gorgeous cover and I even love the phrase that Jennifer is a “reckless beauty” – I can’t wait to see the accompanying editorial and the newsstand cover.

Do you like Jennifer Lawrence’s latest cover?
