Critics’ Choice Awards: My Five Favourite Red Carpet Looks

Critics-choice-angelina-jol

So the award season is certainly in full swing, which I am loving, first up was the Golden Globes that was semi-disappointing this year, but thankfully this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards really did make up for some of the boring looks from last Sunday, I am talking about you Emily Blunt!!!

I know I normally do individual red carpet posts, but as I am late on this as I was actually travelling when the awards were taking place, I thought I would just share my five favourite looks, and trust me they are all beautiful.

First up we have Angelina Jolie who looked like a million dollars in her silver silk Atelier Versace gown. Granted this isn’t an original look, but if it isn’t broken why fix it comes to mind, but hey at least it isn’t black. I love how this gown flows and how it adds curves to Angie’s tiny frame with its fluty sleeves, draped bodice and plunging neckline. This gown is perfection with a real Hollywood movie star appeal and I adore it.

Critics-Choice-Diane-KrugerNext is Diane Kruger in a dramatic blue and white floral print strapless Naeem Khan gazar gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. I love Diane’s red carpet style but this is elegance on another level, I really love the stunning china-blue print, even if some of my Twitter followers felt it looked like a vintage plate design. I am not sure if I prefer this look to her gorgeous Golden Globes Emilia Wickstead gown but it is still beautiful and such a great award ceremony look.

Then we have Michelle Monaghan showing off her sexy-yet-elegant side in this stunning black Elie Saab gown from the pre-fall 2015 collection. Normally one to showcase colour on the red carpet, I am so pleased that she opted for the understated black, as I just feel that with the sheer lace bodice and slits to the skirt that it just works better in black. The fit of this gown is just perfect on her as well, and I love that she wore her hair up and kept her make-up to a minimum. This is simply glamorous.

For my fourth look I have gone for Jennifer Aniston as not only was I shocked that she wasn’t wearing black, I love that she took a fashion risk and went for a sexy Gucci tuxedo in a gorgeous burnt-sienna hue. I was disappointed with her yawn of a gown to the Golden Globes and I have to wonder why she didn’t wear this as she would have certainly stood out.

There is something about a woman in a tuxedo and I love that instead of going for a safer option by wearing this in black she went for it in red, it totally paid off as she looks hot!!! I know a lot has been spoken about the fact that she was on the red carpet for the first time in years with Angelina Jolie but I think this look is so different from her silver gown that it stops comparisons and that was very clever.

For some this had a little bit too much plunge, I have to disagree I think the neckline and opting for no blouse really works and I love that she accessorised her décolletage with a couple of gold necklaces. Another love from this look has to be those flared-leg trousers, they are so flattering and really give her super long legs.

My final look that I adored at the Critics’ Choice Awards had to be Emily Blunt, like with Jennifer her Golden Globes look didn’t excite me, and it is because I knew that she could do so much better like with this red embroidered lace Emilio Pucci halter-neck gown. How stunning is this, if it was in white it would make a great wedding gown with those sheer chiffon inserts.

I do love the colour choice, it adds a touch of sex appeal to the elegance glamour of the embroidered gown and I love her wavy hair, it all just looks so effortless. Also Emily and her husband John Krasinski really are leading the Hollywood pack for the cutest couple award.

Golden Globes 2015: Naomi Watts In Gucci

Who: Naomi Watts

Where: At the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California

Wearing: A chartreuse yellow silk strapless column Gucci gown with a draped bodice and crystal-detailed belt teamed with a statement Bulgari snake necklace

Verdict: It seems that Naomi Watts always gets it right for award season and this bold canary yellow gown is gorgeous and looks stunning on her.

What I love about this gown, other than the fab colour, which was one of the trends of the night, has to be the vintage vibe of the strapless dress with the ruched bodice and the diamond encrusted belt. I really think the whole styling on the look makes it perfect, from the red lippy to the statement Bulgari necklace, and the soft waves to her hair.

I really like this look, a few of my Twitter followers felt the reptile choker was too much, I thought it added just the right amount of drama to the look.

Does Naomi Watts make your best dressed list?

Red Carpet: Bella Thorne’s Homage To Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

TMNT-Bella-Thorne-1

I am an Eighties baby, so I am pretty excited about the return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the trailer looks amazing and I am so please to see Megan Fox back. The LA premiere took place over the weekend and I was going to share Megan’s sexy white Marc Jacobs mini, but then I saw Disney starlet Bella Thorne rocking a vintage 80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tee and I actually squealed it is so cool.

Bella who wasn’t even born in the 80s **totally makes me feel old** glammed up her look with a sexy H&M black leather mini skirt, caged black Gucci heels and a coordinated patent black and green Edie Parker clutch.

I love that this look is so teen appropriate, especially with the fact that she customised the vintage tee with gold studs on the sleeves and slashed the neckline to wear across her shoulders, it totally takes me back to my 16-year-old days where I customise everything. I also adore the green colour of the T-shirt against her strawberry blonde locks.

I know some might say this look is too casual for a red carpet, I would agree if the film wasn’t TMNT, it is fun not a heavy drama, and I love that she got into the spirit by showing off the original Turtles cartoon characters.

I think if Bella can keep bringing her personality to the red carpet she is certainly going to be a star to watch. I bet a lot of people **hint, hint – me** are searching eBay and etsy right now to find their own TMNT tee to customise!!!
