When I first saw this cover of Anne Hathaway on the January issue of Glamour US I have to be honest I was stunned – I love her movies, her red carpet looks, but never have I seen her look so happy, young and even sexy – for me this a great cover.
Shot by Alexel Hay, I love the styling and direction of this shoot, not only does Anne look like she is having so much fun but she also looks incredible. I love the combination of the $50 Monrow charity vest in aid of One Billion Rising, a good cause highlighting rape and violence against women, teamed with the sexy Clover Canyon embroidered briefs and very cool Skullcandy headphones – she looks hot!
I am also pleased that Anne has grown into her pixie cut, her hair looks cute in these pictures, and oh my that yellow Alexander McQueen gown in the editorial is simply divine.
I am sure that some will feel this is a cheesy cover, but come on peeps it is for Glamour, but I have to be honest I really do love it.
What do you think of Anne showing off her fun side?
Well the September issues keep on flooding in and one of the most anticipated covers for me was seeing Victoria Beckham for Glamour US. Not content with just being the cover star, the Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer also guest-edited the magazine’s “Full-On Fashion” issue alongside Cindi Leive.
I get VB as guest editor for a fashion issue, what I don’t get is why they went for such a playful cover. I am not saying I dislike I actually love seeing the goofy side of Victoria and come on only she could work a bubble bath and a Stephen Russell tiara, but surely with the tagline “Full-On Fashion” a full-on fashionable cover was needed.
I’m often asked, if I weren’t designing, what other job I would love to do. Once upon a time I would have said I’d be a ballet dancer—I trained as one for years! But if not dancing, I’d be a fashion editor – Victoria Beckham.
The cover and the accompanying editorial made a little more sense once I had watched the behind the scenes video, see below, as the concept was all about being a glamorous soccer mom. So we see Victoria Beckham drinking a milkshake wearing a skimpy pair of knickers and an orange lace top by Lover, playing on a swing in a gorgeous Monique Lhuillier skirt, and showing her best editor pose in some geeky specs **which are apparently Victoria Beckham Opticals – LOVE** and of course wearing a dress from her own collection.
OK, so I am not blown away by the cover, but the editorial is fun and I can’t wait to read the interview as Victoria talked to Glamour about her famous pout, her marriage, where she sees herself in five years, and why she’d never say never to having another baby.
On guest editing the September issue: “It’s been exciting for me to see my ideas come to life, from type colors to photo selection to casting. I even made my own list of Glamour fashion Don’ts to keep out of the issue: boat shoes (unless of course you’re designer Alber Elbaz or on a boat!), Bermuda shorts, nose rings, Crocs, and American tan tights (that’s nude pantyhose to you).”
On her husband, David Beckham, coming to see her fashion show in New York this past season: “It was the first time! He’s always been working or training. But I was nervous about this show. I was feeling a lot of pressure. He phoned me the night before, and I just said, ‘I want you to come be with me. I want a cuddle. I really do.’ And it was great to have him there. I think he was surprised; I don’t usually bother him with much detail. And then you get there, and the models, the hair, the makeup…I think he was blown away!”
For more information on the shoot and to read Victoria’s editor note head on over to Glamour.com, and check out the behind-the-scenes below – I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for the magazine to hit the newsstands on August 7.
Wow, this is a side of Lauren Conrad that I haven’t seen before, there is an added confidence from her in this risky nearly nude cover for the May issue of Glamour US. Unlike other celebrity topless covers this one has a natural feel about it, LC looks fun and flirty without being trashy, and come on those are the cutest Bluemarine floral applique briefs.
I really do think that the whole editorial shot by Peggy Sirota is just gorgeous, the use of Miu Miu, her own label Paper Crown, and Bill Blass is just cute and girlie, and lots of incredible bling from Tiffany’s.
In the accompanying interview that I can’t wait to read, Lauren discusses her love life, how she feels about her body, what really happens on reality TV, and what keeps her grounded.
One sneak peek that was on the Glamour website that caught my attention had to be the LC talking about her friendships on The Hills, “The show is what brought a lot of us together, and when it was gone, we didn’t have anything in common anymore.” Does this make anyone else sad? I still think that she meets up with Whitney in the fashion cupboard, goes clubbing with Audrina, and flirts away with Brody!!!
What do you think of the cover and fashion spread?
